Beads of sweat dripped down your forehead as you quickly shot up from the bed. Another nightmare had interrupted your precious sleep. Not that is was unusual anymore, ever since Mount Weather, youâve never really been the same. It was a touchy subject too, nobody really spoke about it so you would just keep it to yourself.
Tonight, was different. Tonight, you felt as though that even if you closed your eyes, you would be back there. Without any hesitation, you pulled back the damp covers-from your sweat- and clambered out of bed. Arkadia was quite cold tonight but you didnât care. You needed Murphy. You needed him now.
A few moments later, you arrived at his bedroom. You stood outside of the metal door for a while, contemplating whether you should go in or not. The last thing you wanted to do was annoy your boyfriend. Â After a few more moments of silent pacing, you pushed the door open.
Much to your surprise, Murphy was awake and was flipping through a book that he was holding on his bed. His eyes darted up towards you and a small smile played on his lips. He shut his book quickly and threw it on the floor.
âI was wondering when you were going to come inside. What can I help you with?â He asked, rising to his feet.
âCan I-âYou paused for a moment and sighed, âI canât sleep, can I stay here?â
Murphyâs suggestive look turned soft when he realised how small your voice was. Quickly, he stepped closer to you and pulled you close to his chest. Warmth radiated from his body, already making you feel at home.
âOf course. Is everything okay, princess?â He questioned, running his slender fingers through your hair.
There was a long silence. Youâd never talked about Mount Weather with anybody except Jasper. With a big inhale, you started.
âNo. Ever since Mount Weather, I feel, I donât know. Different. I canât get the images of them taking my blood and killing all my friends out of my head. They haunt me, Murph. Iâm scared.â
âWhy havenât you told me any of this?â Murphy asked, worriedly.
âI donât know. I didnât want to annoy you and itâs just, hard.â
âYou could never annoy me. Well, most of the time. But I want to always help you. Okay?â He explained, pulling slightly away from you so he could hold your face and brush the hair away from your forehead.
âIs there anything else you wanted me to do for you?â Murphy asked, his fingers brushing over your cheeks, gently.
A smile spread across Murphyâs lips as he shook his head. Slowly, he leaned down and carefully pecked your lips. But you needed more. You craved the way his lips felt on yours. You snaked your arms around his neck and pulled him back to your lips. The way he kissed you, helped you forget. It made you feel safe, again. Something you havenât felt in a long time. His lips were the only familiar thing you have felt in a long time. You felt as though they were the only thing that were going to keep you sane at that point in time.Â
Sadly, he pulled away from you, his head still resting on your forehead and his taste still lingering on your lips. You inhaled deeply, taking in his scent and enjoying the fact that for once, you didnât feel completely petrified.
âYou look amazing tonight, by the way,â He whispered lowly, his hands tangling in your hair.
âIâm a mess, Murph. You donât have to lie,â you chuckled softly but appreciated the way he made you feel.
âWell, youâre the most beautiful mess Iâve ever seen,â he replied, kissing your forehead softly and pulled away from the embrace he had you in.
Murphy softly grabbed your hand and pulled you along to his bed. He helped you in and then quickly followed. You pulled the blankets over the both of you and rest your head on his bare chest. The sound of Murphyâs heartbeat was so soothing that you were already falling asleep on him. Murphy sighed with content before he spoke.
âGoodnight, Princess.â
And with that, you fell into a peaceful slumber where the halls of Mount Weather were absent and serenity of safety wasnât.
