the  baby  blue  bird  is  cradled  in  hands  that  have  known  of  war   /   the  soft  feathers  brush  against  bandaged  hands   (   &   for  a  moment   /   the  world  around  you  disappears   /   as  you  quietly  stare  at  the  bird  that  rests  peacefully  in  your  hands   ).   upon  further  inspection   /   you  notice  something  peculiar.   the  feathers  on  it’s  wing  is  all  messed  up   /   this  poor  baby  bird  has  been  injured   (   &   it  rests  quietly  in  your  hands   /   flightless   /   &   you  too  understand  that  feeling   /   of  being  unable  to  be  all  that  you  can  be   ).

“ Well stop being an absolute fool then, Byleth! “

head  turns  to  a  familiar  voice   /   ah   ,   sylvain.   it  is  of  no  surprise  to  you  when  his  voice  sustains  little  to  no  subtly  at  all   /   yet  ever  still  your  patient  eyes  simply  watch  his  antics.   his  hand  slithers  itself  into  your  own   &   fingers  interlock   /   perhaps  the  coldness  of  the  moon  is  the  front  you  wear   (   but  underneath   /   a  warmth  like  the  sun  breathes  into  you   /   it  feels  of  love   /   it  feels  of  life   ).   he  too  knows  of  this  warmth   /   you  see  it  in  the  way  he  smiles.  the  fact  his  eyes  do  not  drift   &   fear  of  abandonment   /   he  looks  at  you  as  though  he  has  found  the  one   (   &   perhaps  your  tired  eyes  don’t  look  it   /   but  you  know  that  you  recriprocate  those  feelings   ).
