Only July 19th 2017 I finally got to putting my feet into the last of the great lakes! I also met the founder of @veganschoicemc who I am glad to have met and hope to see again sometime soon. We got some food at the great @copperbranchcourt and went for a short ride around the toronto area before heading off to the 1000 islands on the 20th. I really want to see more of Canada but sadly it has now been a year since I have been to Canada. On July 18th 2017 I continued my trip into the great lakes and swimming in every since one of them. The one downside of camping the whole trip is some areas have lots of mosquitoes, as when I started to set up camp at a public campground between Lake Michigan and lake Superior I was getting bit so much that I actually finished setting up my tent with all my bike gear on including the helmet. I tried to meet up with someone outside of detroit but that did not happen so I continued into Canada for my 3rd visit to the country by the port Edward crossing. So I missed a few days due to life happening but who does that not happen to. So July 14-17 2017... Following more routes suggested by my hos ton the 13th I found some nice twists continuing my trip into Montana. I saw many people wind sufing along the river and hopefully someday I can do that too. I made my way up through the complete cell dead zone in Idaho before the mountain range. It was very very hot and while I should have teste dout using evaporative coolin while in California this is where I gave it my first try, it works wonders and all I need to do to get more water for the t-shirt was to hop off the bike and soak it in the river next ot the road! just a little bit before I got to my host for this night I just barely missed a nasty tunderstorm that I could hear and just a few raindrops fell, somehow this was also th eonly rain I experienced for the whole trip. When I got to my host we chatted about bikes and plans and then he and his wife made some pizzas from scratch and his dough was already free of animals so all he had to do for me was not put cheese on one! It was an amazing pizza and totally unexpected. The next morning they both became my witnesses for the beginning of my saddlesore 1000 which I have yet to actually submit for the award. while not exactly something i should have been doing since I was now on the clock I picked up some more bread and pb/jelly from a local store. Doing the 1000 miles in 24 hours was not fun as it was way faster than I wanted ot go but luckly the speed limit was 80 and 75mph in MT and ND but I had a crosswind the whole way which even caused a wear mark on the tire. I stopepd for a shower at a motel 6 before continiuing to MN where I finished the saddlesore and got some bikers to signed the offical end. So July 12th 2017 I made my way up to Portland OR and met up with @thegreenhairdoc who I had planned to meet while I was in San Diego but our schedules did not line up. Anyway I got a bit of a tour of Portland with him and met another friend of his who was kind enough to let me spend the night. @thegreenhairdoc Also gave me a wonderful haircut/beard trimming that was much needed after 12 days on the road without shaving. I highly recommend him. I finished off my trip to Portland by going to @homegrownsmoker for an awesome meal and I believe they had some kombucha too. So on the 13th I made my way up to Mt St Helens and then followed from great route suggestions from another @advriderofficial taking me far from the beaten path that everyone else takes and off into some great twists where I also happened to have no cell service(I love it when I'm truly on my own). I was quite amazed at the temps in eastern washington, I was not expecting it to be so hot but I finally made it to pasco WA and got a nice and spicy indian meal before meeting up with my host. July 11th 2017 Marked the end of my second trip to California after just 11 days I made my way into a new state, Oregon and I moved inland as I was getting tired of the cold and fog from the Pacific, the number of one lane roads on CA Rt 1 was amazing and the roads themselves amazing too, someday I want to make a trip south on Rt 1 but starting up in Washington state, probably when I start my world travels. Anyway When I got to Eureka CA I stopped at a very very busy vegan cafe called @cornbreadcafe for dinner before making my way up to Sweet Home where another ADVRider offered me a place to put up my tent next to a nice stream. I really wish I had more than 3 weeks for the trip at this point as I was starting to realize how many miles I had to cover in the next 12 days with so much to still see. #california #oregon #eugeneoregon #camping #bikelife #veganfood (at Eugene, Oregon)

A year ago on the 10th I made my way up the the California coast to a small little town near the Oregon border where I stayed with another biker how was a local Lawyer. He let me set up my tent in his small backyard and we went to get some dinner at a local restaurant that had some Indian or Thai food if I remember right. On the way up I got to see so many redwood trees and drove through one too! the coast was still so foggy the whole way. I got a few shots where it let up a little but I was mazed at how much fog was along the coast and the major temperature difference just a few miles inland. #bikelife #redwoods #northerncalifornia #fog (at Drive-Thru Tree Park)

A year ago today I finished up my second trip to San Francisco where I met an awesome biker(motor and petal) and fellow vegan who offered me her backyard to use for a place to put a tent and showed me around Oakland a little as I had never been to oakland before. Getting to San Francisco was hotter than getting to San Diego by a degree and as I was passing the mountain rance into oakland I thought it felt cool but I looked down to see my bike telling me it was still 103f(an improvement from 107) I rode up and down the golden gate and around the golden gate recreational area seeing much of the outskirts of SF that I had not seen on my weeklong trip in 2014. Before leaving SF @jrc2011 gave me a bunch of bling for my bags which only one came off during the trip home as well as some AAA backup paper maps which I luckily did not need. Before leaving SF I got some dinner at @millenniumrestaurant for some wonderful food, pictured is the desserts we all had. Traveling up the coast was really cool(no really the temps along the northern cal coast are really cool(lower 60s) and foggy, much of the time it was hard to see the ocean to my left until I dropped into one of the many Tsunami zones. after hitting many awesome twisties I made up up to Mendocino where I grabbed some lunch while listening to tunes in the park with another ADVRider who graciously let me stay in his airstream trailer for the night before heading further north. So on the 5th I had an uneventful day except for starting in the 60s then having it reach 106f on the way to fresno before getting to a small primitive campsite in the national forest before getting to Yosemite on the 6th where I met up with a old friend/co-worker who I had not seen for years as we climbed up yosemite falls together having some good conversations and catching up while going off trail a bit for some photo shoots(I still need to edit these this weekend) saw a deer at the top and tested how comfortable I was with heights going to the edge of the falls(It was AWESOME) I don't think Amy appreciated that though. Today I took a trip to hampton beach and tested out my waterproof phone in the atlantic ocean, so far the results are great, for the time being it still thinks a pair of headphones are plugged in but once it fully dries I would assume that will go away. However a year ago today I started my trek up the west coast, but before that I went to Ocean Beach and went into the pacific ocean for the first time in my life and decided to bring my Galaxy S7 which should have been waterproof had I not dropped it the day before I got a case and ended up lifting the front screen partly..... anyway the phone seemed ok until I got back out of the water and went to my bike to head back to my aunts. It was at this time that the phone stopped seeing its sim card and then the display started to act up. I tried to pull out my spare phone to put the sim in but that phone appeared to not turn on anymore(It turns out that somewhere between my fight from NH and that moment the screen actually cracked so now my only working phone was a low end freedompop phone. it however worked to get me back to my aunts and to best buy to purchase another phone which ended up being a long process as the one I bought ended up being locked to someones google account so I had to go back in and have them troubleshoot trying to have it let me log in before they would exchange it. after all this I am now well behind schedule and my estimated time to my host for the night was around midnight. Lucky for me Lyle was very understanding of the situation and welcomed me when I finally did arrive, freezing as I had not planned on so late travel or how chilly it can get at night next to the coast(I started out riding around 80f and arrived around 54f wearing my sweater and multiple t-shrits under my jacket.) He even set me up with a cot and sleeping bag. This also meant that I was riding through the Los Angeles coastline at night during the middle of 4th of July fireworks which was quite an experience itself between the traffic and fireworks display. Day 3: Now that I had finished installing the @EasternBeaverCompany power distribution block, headlight relay as well as a fork brace and power/volt meter on the handlebars I was ready to hit the road with my Aunt’s son who happened to also be a new rider. We took a trip on some of the roads her knew in the area north of San Diego and I took a short stop at a dam in the area. Before turning back I realized we were close to @evwestdotcom so we took a stop in and chatted with John about their projects and he showed me around the shop a bit. I really do want to make a independant suspension transaxle campervan someday but that is a project for in the future. I finished up the day heading down to the beach and getting an amazing raw vegan dinner at @peacepiesraw which was an awesome place and I even met someone who was also on ADV Rider however I have yet to talk to them since as we never exchanged info. #sandiego #bikelife #evwest #electriccar #electricmotorcycle #delorean (at San Diego, California)

One year ago today I flew out to San Diego, California to start a 3 week vacation riding a motorcycle I bought over the internet back to the east coast. I had little planned for this trip except a rough route heading to Yosemite and Portland Oregon. So I packed up a suitcase and a Givi Trekker topcase with some clothes, tools, and some additional add-ons for the bike I had yet to see in person. Got a cab from my apartment to the Boston express bus to fly out from logan for the first time. I had never checked a bag that was at both the weight and dimension limit before nor did I really have a good plan for how to carry it into/out of the airport as I had wrapped it in a tarp to protect the finish of the case while it was in transit. All went well and the bag made it to LAX in one piece along with my suitcase. My aunt who I had not seen in over 20 years was gracious enough to pick me up from the airport and bring me to the dealer and let me stay with her family for a few days while I worked on my bike and checked out southern Cali a little. Over the next 3 weeks I am making the time to finally go through all the photos I took and share my 3 week, 5379 mile experience of solo travel across the US with some amazing help from some other bikers in the ADVRider community.
