Robby put his phone back in his pocket and continued to work as if nothing happened. He had to keep himself composed, he couldn’t let himself slip over being jealous over nothing, right? He had to get his head out of his arse and focus.

Though he found it hard when he saw The Shark come back down from ortho for another patient and decided to make a quick detour towards Dennis who was sitting down at Robby’s desk.

All Robby could do was watch from afar, watching their body language to understand what was going on like a creep.

Meanwhile Dennis could feel a shift in the air as Park headed towards him, he watched as Park leaned against the desk with a smirk. Dennis could only glare. “What do you want?” Dennis snarked. Park’s eyes could only widen with excitement. He loved felt aroused by this new side of the meek and shy Dennis he once knew.

“You’ve finally grown up, gotten yourself a voice now, huh?” Park teased. Dennis could only scowl.

“Don’t you have something more important to be doing to than bothering me?” Dennis bickered. Park gave him a smug look before replying, “how about instead of you sulking from the past, I buy you some dinner and we have some fun. What do you say?”

Dennis could only scoff. He couldn’t believe the nerve this guy had.

During the meantime of the conversation, Robby had slowly been approaching closer to hear what was being said and felt his heart drop as he heard what The Shark had said. He couldn’t believe some lowly shark was trying grab a bite of his resident.

Robby did the most logical thing he could think of.

“Hey Whitaker, I need you to lend me a hand.” He casually exclaimed as he walked towards where Dennis was sitting and Park was standing. He gave a side glare towards Park who just gave a knowing shrug and walked off. Smug bastard. Little did Park know was that he bit off more than he could chew.

Robby guided Dennis towards whatever odd case he could give him, just to keep him away from the biting shark. A shark would always win in a fight against a dog but maybe a bear and a wolf had more of a fighting chance.

Eventually the shift went on and came to an end. Robby had been waiting for the moment for Jack to come in, to handover but to also debrief.

“Brother am I glad to see you” Robby patted Jack’s back as he walked in, a sense of relief washed over him. He finally wasn’t alone. He wish he could just kiss him but not in here, never at work.

“So, where’s the boy?” Jack questioned, Robby sighed. “He’s over at my desk finishing the rest of his charting.” Jack hummed.

Before Jack and Robby could start with the debrief, they both stared at Dennis as they watched the shark approach Dennis once again.

They could hear the conversation properly this time, the Pitt had quieted down.

“Are you ready to leave?” Park leaned against the desk, Dennis could only ignore him. Park scoffed, “you know you can’t try to ignore me forever, I know you miss me” he snarked.

That comment could only make Jack and Robby’s blood boil. He could see Jack clenching his fist. And Jack thought he was the jealous one. But he knew what Jack was like, he liked to keep what was his and not let it go. Almost like resource guarding to not loose anything ever again.

As Dennis continued to ignore the shark that just couldn’t stop biting, Jack and Robby had enough.

They walked towards where Dennis was, careful to not provoke the shark but to get Dennis’ attention. Dennis decided to only look up and acknowledge them and not Park, as if he knew who he belonged to.

Dennis gave a questioning look, “Hi Dr abbot, Hi Dr Robby. Can I help you?”

“Actually yes, Whitaker. I was wondering how are you getting home. I noticed Trinity leave with Garcia earlier and I wouldn’t want you watching the bus in weather like this” Jack causally commented. He wasn’t going to let some smug surgeon steal what was his.

Dennis looked at Robby and Jack and then looked at Park.

He had 2 options

Be taken home by his attendings he’s crushing on or be taken to dinner and fucked by his ex situationship who’s an arsehole.

He chose the latter.

He glanced back towards Robby and Jack, “if it’s not any trouble. I’d appreciate that. I’ve finished my charting so I’m ready to go” he gave a polite smile, all while ignoring Park who looked dumbfounded. He found it hot when Dennis was angry at him but shocked at the thought of being ignored.

While Dennis grabbed his belongings from the locker space, Robby and Jack turned to look at The Shark and gave a knowing smile that they had won. “Guess you don’t have a strong enough bite” Jack snarky commented towards Park, who could only scoff and walk away in defeat.

Once Dennis emerged from the lockers he shrugged as he noticed that Park had left, probably bothered he couldn’t have a quick fuck tonight like he used to. He felt safer going with Robby anyways, someone he trusted. He was almost disappointed though as Dr Abbot wouldn’t come with.

Jack looked at Dennis and Robby and gave Robby a quick kiss on the cheek as nobody was watching and ruffled Dennis’ hair, “See you later tonight, pup,” giving a knowing smile, the kid didn’t know what was coming for him.

Dennis gave a questioning look and looked towards Robby who shrugged. “I think what Jack means is that, you’re staying with us as I know you don’t want to steal with Santos and Garcia” he casually said, walking out the door.

“Oh.” Was all Dennis could say as he accepted his fate.

Once Robby made it to his and Jack’s apartment he realised Dennis had fallen asleep during the car ride. Robby decided to carry Dennis towards the couch and lay him down to where he lied down on the other side, exhaustion taking over his body.

When Jack came home that morning he found both of them cuddled together on the couch with Robby snoring and Dennis drooling.

Park and Dennis used to hook up during Dennis’ surgical rotation, through him Dennis got more experienced within bdsm etc etc. Dennis enjoyed the sec he had from Shark but it had to come to an end due to Dennis moving rotations. They didn’t reconnect or hook up after Dennis left, as there was no point anymore Shark thought, well he mostly ghosted Dennis.

Fast forward to the present, Shark comes down and sees Dennis, the tension could be felt throughout the room. The slight bickering Park and Dennis had made the room fall silent. Dennis had seen Park around a few times in the ER but hadn’t directly had any contact with him since their last hook up. He felt some resentment towards the man, he couldn’t understand why but he just got under his skin. The way he was smug and didn’t give a fuck about anything. Shark on the other hand bathed in the hate he could feel radiating off Dennis. It honestly made him smirk, giving sly remarks towards him to hit a nerve. (Honestly it aroused him how much annoyance he could feel from Dennis) he purposely shut Dennis down to take him down a notch like he used to do did when they were in bed.

Robby on the other hand, was seething with jealousy. He couldn’t understand why Shark was talking to his resident like that, like he knew him. He hadn’t ever seen either of them interact together, he was the chief for godsake he knew what happened in his ER. Who knew who and so on. Robby could only watch as the two interacted with small bickering, grimaces and smirks between the two.

“What was that about?” Was all Robby could ask as he and Dennis took off their PPE and sanitised their hands. Dennis looked confused for a second. Had he done something wrong?

“What do you mean?” Was all he could ask. Robby gave him a knowing look, “the tension between you and Shark” Robby answered.

Dennis sighed. “There was nothing going on, Park is just an asshole who likes to get an ego boost every once in awhile” he complained. Robby glanced at Dennis, “he looked like he wanted to eat you alive” like wanted to fuck you , went unsaid.

Dennis rolled his eyes and moved on to his next patient. Robby could only stand there. He needed to text Jack, maybe he’d have some sort of insight. The night shift loved to gossip, they had nothing better to do.
