listening to a new podcast to heal my bbc sherlock trauma
helloooo this is a MASTER POST of my Sherlock Holmes annotations, aka shitpost doodles of my favorite parts with occasional headcanons. I will pin this so it's available and update it as I go because this feels like it's becoming a full series, god help me.
I'm reading the stories in the order they occurred (according to Baring-Gould, who I am currently arm wrestling in the astral plane over how many wives Watson had) so that's how I will present them!
EDIT: decided to draw them in the order that makes sense to me, Baring-Gould you’re too silly
EDIT 2: this is basically a webcomic at this point, with ongoing continuity and a romantic storyline that can be enjoyed if you read in order. I did not intend this, but I have Sherlock Holmes disease and there's only one cure (doing this)
EDIT 3: content warning/advertisement depending on your temperament: this series gets into one of my big interests, historical queerness, period accurate homophobia, and how laws around queerness affected lived experience. it also has things that you can expect from a Sherlock Holmes story like: drug use involving needles, violence, flagrant use of old timey guns, and people dying in shocking and mysterious ways!

So...There's a scene in Good Omens where we need an extract from Aziraphale's Diary in the 1820s. And as we were about to shoot him writing it, Douglas asked if we could see a bit of the previous diary entry as well. So I wrote one. As it turned out, we are too close up to read anything of the previous diary extract and only the final line is visible, if that.
I hated to imagine it going to waste.
So here's a small Valentine's Day gift for any of you who need cheering up. You will need to imagine the rest of the story.
“Madam!” I said, “I do believe that you have entirely misunderstood me!”
The countess drew herself to her full height, which I believe would have been about five feet and seven inches, and stared at me, quite puzzled. “No,” she said, “I believe that it is you who are mistaken, Mr Fell. For never have I met a man of any kind who could resist my blandishments.” And then, replacing her garments (which took much longer than shedding them), she added, “I do not know what manner of a man you are, Mr Fell. I trust you will still help my brother with his little problem.”
“I am still there for him,” I assured her. “He is as good as freed from his durance vile.”
“You are an angel,” said the countess.
And so we left the matter. This morning, her brother rejoined her, released (by me) from debtor's gaol. She was by all acounts delighted to see him.
POSTSCRIPT:
It appears that she was not a countess, he was not her brother, and they fled together for France leaving many debts behind them. I told Crowley all about the matter over a glass of claret, but he did not appear to be as surprised as I had expected.
Neil's last year Valentine's gift :) <3
Neil Gaiman, what are you doing EVERYWHERE?? Yesterday, you were in two knowledge bowl questions- one involved a reading from a passage in Stardust, and the other was "Which novel, written by Neil Gaiman, published in 2001-" (I didn't hear the rest of the question before I was shaking my teammate to hit the buzzer). And then, this morning, your name was one of the answer options to a radio show question about who wrote a Dolly Parton song. Sadly you did not write a Dolly Parton song.
Whew!
I'm sorry to disillusion people but Neil Gaiman is made up. He's "everywhere" for the same reason mall Santas are everywhere. People dress up as Neil Gaiman and go to bookstores and conventions and run social media accounts to spread joy to all the young adults and queer people. But he's not real. Neil Gaiman is more like a feeling. In Scandinavia he's known as Nail Guaymin and he leaves books in people's shoes every November 10th.
I can't believe there are still people thinking Neil Gaiman is real. Just recently there were articles of him being sighted in Australia. As if such a prolific author would risk get eaten by dropbears. In The Czech Republic he's known as Nýl Gejmen and every November 10th we drink only dark lager instead of normal beer.
In Finland Niilo Hömömies comes to your house on the 10th and hands out the books himself. It can be pretty expensive to hire someone who dresses up as him for your family, but it's a much loved tradition here so we're ready to use a little money to bring joy to the children. It's worth it, most people think.
In Spain, children invite Neil to visit by putting their most precocious prose and drawings into letters, and then he visits them in triplicate as the "three wise Neils" on November 10. (I don't know why, his honorary birthday is just a very busy day for all his impersonators.)
In Switzerland, Niel Chäime goes from door to door reciting prose and sometimes poetry. He usually comes in the company of @reallyndacarter, in case there's leftover cheese.
Tumblr is really delivering on this post 🤣 It's splitting into lots of different posts, so in an effort to bring some of them back together, here are some additions I love:

The starmaker!
I made a spiderverse theme collage zine throughout the past few weeks‼️
It’s one of my first serious collage art I did and the difference between the first spread (1st) and the last (3rd and my fave) and the cover (left) compared to the back (right) is insane btw.
The only material I used are magazines, scraps and doodle from my zine club! No printing anything! (Yes, even comic spider-man. It was a lucky find)
What more Hobie Brown-style art than a collage zine?
ATTENTION
If you see this you are OBLIGATED to reblog w/ the song currently stuck in your head :)

make a girl smile today.
give her a sword.
why dont you try making up a delusion or private world and go live in it and maybe you’ll calm down
The word is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.
fell for the oldest trick in the book 🤦♂️
long time no post! i’m currently in the middle of my annual lotr rewatch and i can just never resist these two <3
Peter Jackson was a coward actually for not making Merry and Pippin grow to twice Frodo and Sam's height in the movies.
Also the prologue states they both reach to >4'5" and according to Google, Tolkien dwarves are 4'5”-5’ so IMAGINE Gimli's face when he re-encounters those two young rascals smoking and drinking at Isengard, and they're both taller than him.
