Iseu didn't try to hide the grin around his glass as he took a sip of his drink. He'd only just gotten back to Sigma Rhada in the last few days after an admittedly long absence. He and Ardaka exchanged messages in that time, but nothing beat a face to face catchup.

“Good to hear I'm still your favorite. Here I was a little concerned you might've found another favorite while I was gone,” he joked as he set his drink back on the table. “Can't complain, though. I'm no worse for wear, knocked a couple heads, pissed some people off, the usual.”

He didn't voice this thought. The aggravated pulse of bright teal patterns along his face and body were concealed by his mask and clothing, but the pinch around his eyes was clear enough.

“What would you suggest, then?” He said tersely. “Our target isn't my usual quarry, and my targets usually come to me, not the other way around.”

“Of course they do,” Karda muttered, four eyes narrowed against the glare of artificial lighting. “The walls have ears and the streets have eyes. The only somewhat safe place to have a conversation these days is either a bank vault or a bar so noisy that the ears in the walls can't hear.”

Or his clinic, if he was being honest.

He glanced towards the door like he expected someone else to come crashing in.

If Karda ever saw that mechanic again, he'd fry him and cut out his eyes.

He was usually pretty decent at working the kinks out of his own ship, but sometimes he needed a proper mechanic's hands. Well barely a solar cycle after this repair, he'd had to make an emergency jump out of hyperspace thanks to more than one thing going wrong. By the time he made it through the little planet's atmosphere, there were as many warnings inside as there was fire outside. 

The landing hadn't been clean, and he'd taken out several trees along the way, but aside from a twinge in one leg and teal blood seeping from his nose, he was in one piece. He just wished he knew how long he'd been out for.
