Too many events have happened with the Diamonds and the Gems, but is that a reason to think you had the right to act like a coward and run away from your best friend, who was hoping so much for you and your help? But you just up and chickened out, like a pathetic little boy, once with your former friend Ronaldo. You think your actions could be easily justified by childhood bullying or bad friends back in the day, but that's no excuse.
All this time, Lars was reasoning alone, not wanting to go outside except for work, where people looked at him with disgust because of the fresh, sometimes bleeding scar on his face. It spoiled the perception of the employee in principle, and it scared and hurt him. After a few days of the same reasoning, fears, and work, Lars decided one evening to pull himself together and talk about everything at least with Steven, and then somehow with Sadie.
Having gathered his courage after his shift, which ended at 6:00 PM due to the weekend and the changed schedule, he reached Steven's house. The only thing he saw was a note: "There's no one home right now, please don't break the door down. Pearl is tired of fixing it! 🎉". Blinking, the redhead couldn't figure out where his little friend could have gone in the evening. He decided to walk around the city and stop for a cola and pizza at Jenny's pizzeria, where he headed, nervously muttering to himself.
Opening the door, Lars addressed Jenny with slight fear, finally noticing her. He was somewhat afraid of her, as she was part of the cool crowd he dreamed of joining, and now he had at least some reason to talk.
— Hello, Jenny... I wanted to ask, where is Steven now? He's nowhere to be found, and I really want to talk to him - he said in a surprisingly concerned voice.
- Ah, he's been at a party at some guy named Kevin's for about two hours now —
Saying the name "Kevin," she winced, clearly feeling disgust towards him, but she couldn't stop Steven, as she was busy with work until 8:00 PM.
The redhead let out a slight breath. A new name that he had once heard somewhere evoked a strange, almost pleasant feeling in him, which he didn't understand why.
—And who is this Kevin, actually? — Lars asked quietly.
The question made the brunette laugh and give a nervous look at the same time.
— A guy with a cool car, a rich teenager with antics that clearly come from insecurity. But I don't care, he was personally sassy to me and that annoyed me — she answered nervously.
Lars decided not to interrogate further. He really did distantly know this Kevin, but why did the memory of him feel warm? From the description, he seemed like a real asshole.
Without thinking for long, Lars went to the house from where the music should have been coming... But where was it? — flashed through his mind when he saw only people leaving, whispering about something. The desire to find out what happened only grew stronger. Grabbing a towel to wipe his nervous sweat, he slowly approached the gate. It was empty and dark everywhere, only the pool was glowing bright blue. A brunet in a blue shirt was sitting by the water, all wet. Apparently, this was Kevin?
— Are you alright, dude? - Lars asked quietly and immediately felt embarrassed by that stupid word.
- No. I'm not alright, I'm humiliated and angry, that damn Steven! - the guy shouted nervously, clenching his fists.
Lars immediately understood everything and, trying not to violate the stranger's personal space, asked:
- What did he do? — a note of concern sounded in his voice for the first time.
- He ruined my party! Because of him, I fell into the pool. 'Kevin is a loser, and Steven is cool — the guy said nervously again, crossing his arms
Now there was no doubt. Lars felt a strange warmth next to him, which made him tense.
— You should calm down, I think. If this is your house, go take a shower and rest," he said slowly, carefully draping the towel over Kevin -
Only now did the brunet realize that a stranger with a familiar voice had helped him. He didn't have time to see his face—the guy was already turning away to leave.
- Good night... Kevin — Lars said quietly, leaving the property.
The only thing Kev remembered: that guy was thin, red-haired, and with a scar. He didn't get to see him, but the kindness, which no one had ever shown him, sparked interest
P. S — This fanfic is the zero part of the main Damn Party, which is still in development, but if there are at least 100 notes on this post, I will seriously think about sequel... One more thing in this fanfic Kevin will experience internal biphobia... ( Lars pan)
