GOLDEN - HARRY STYLES
people seem to have trouble understanding why iâm an anti-capitalist, so iâm going to try and put it into simple, real-life terms.
i work at a restaurant. i make $12 an hour, plus tips. minimum wage where i live is relatively high for my country - the national minimum wage is $7.25/hr, and has not been raised since 2009. before taxes, working full time, my yearly income is about $22,000 a year. ($25,000 if you count tips)
at my job, we sell various dishes, with an average price of about $10-$15. we get printouts every week detailing how much money we made that week; in one week, our restaurant makes about $30,000. (one of our other locations actually makes this much on a daily basis!)
iâm not going to go into details, but after the costs of production (payroll for employees, rent for the building, maintenance, and wholesale food purchasing) are accounted for, the restaurant makes an estimated profit of $20,000 per week.
this profit goes directly to the owner, who does not work at this location. the owner of my restaurant has actually been on vacation for a few months, but still profits from the restaurant, because they own it. i have met the owner exactly twice in my year of working here.
to put this into perspective, the owner of this restaurant earns in 2 days what they pay me in one year. and thatâs just from this single location - the owner has several other restaurants, all of which make more money than the one i work at. this ends up resulting in the owner having an estimated net worth of tens of millions of dollars, even after accounting for the payroll for every single worker in their employ.
now, i have to ask you: does the owner of my restaurant deserve this income? did they earn it? did their labor result in this value being created?
the naive answer would be âyesâ; the owner purchased the location and arranged for the raw ingredients to be delivered, did they not?
the actual answer is ânoâ. the owner may have used their initial capital to start the location, but the profit is a result of my labor, and the labor of my co-workers.
the owner purchases rice at a very low bulk price of about 25 cents a pound. i cook the rice, and within a few minutes, that pound of rice is suddenly worth about $30. the owner did not create this value, i did. the owner simply provided the initial capital investment required to start the process.
what needs to be understood here is that capitalists do not create value. they use the labor of their employees to create value, and then take the excess profit and keep it.
what needs to be understood is that capitalists accrue income by already HAVING money. the owner of my restaurant was only able to get this far because they started off, from the very beginning, with enough money to purchase a building, purchase food in bulk, and hire hundreds of employees.
that is to say: the rich get richer, and they do so by exploiting the labor of the poor.
the owner of my restaurant could afford to triple the income of every single person in their employee if they felt like it, but this would mean that they were generating less profit for themselves, so they do not.
the owner of my restaurant pays me the current minimum wage of my area, because to them, i am not a person. i am an investment. i am an asset. i am a means to create more money.Â
when you are paid minimum wage, the message your boss is sending you is this:Â âlegally, if i could pay you less, i would.â
every capitalist on the planet exploits their workers for their own gain. every capitalist, even the small business owners, forces people to stay in poverty so that the capitalist can profit.
This is a really good post

thereâs a misconception that grief only happens when we lose people. this is not true. we can grieve circumstances, relationships, missed opportunities. in fact, sometimes when you find yourself plagued with waves of emotion from sadness to melancholy you may be grieving yourself. the version of yourself that you might have been if things had been different, or if only you had said something, or if someone had stood up for you.
someone else: *makes a mistake*
me: donât worry buddy! it is not a big deal! we can fix this! weâll figure it out!!
me: *makes a mistake*
me: i am irredeemable worthless garbage and i want to die

ânot all copsâ
I work in a non-restraint facility for special needs kids (21 and under) with extreme behavioral issues. Iâm talking real violent stuff. Sixteen and twenty-one year old boys who can (and do) home-run swing desks at your head.
As a non-restraint facility, we are trained to respond to these outbursts in the most non-threatening, non-confrontational way possible, while still protecting both the bystanders and the person currently attacking us.
We are monitored every second of our shift to make sure the safety and dignity of our clients is maintained, especiallyâand just let me emphasize thisâthe safety and dignity of the person attempting to hurt us. Their right to be treated fairly and with empathy is not forfeit just because their brain chemistry fucked them up today.
We have to be calm, regardless.
We have to be gentle, regardless.
We can never respond with any kind of force, ever.
Those rules apply to all the staff, all the time, no matter what.
So when I hear bullshit about how somebody âreached for their waistbandâ or they were âresisting,â when I hear yet another police officer got off because the situation was âscaryâ or he âfeared for his safetyâ or whatever the fuck, I lose my shit.
You wanna talk about how you were frightened for your safety, walking up to someone in the middle of a psychotic episode? Yeah, well, Iâve been there. Pretty regularâprobably twice a week, at leastâno gun, no taser, with guidelines that state I cannot even use my fucking thumb because thatâs considered âgrabbingâ and therefore a ârestraint.â
And you know what? Iâve walked away from every one of those. I havenât died. Iâve never even been seriously injured. We defused the situation in ways that didnât involving riddling the other participant with bullets and at the end of the day, everyone went home. Go fucking figure.
And yetâand fucking yetâI keep hearing ânot all cops.â
âNot all copsâ are bad. âNot all copsâ shoot innocent people .3 seconds after rolling up on the scene. âNot all copsâ are racist fuckbags, misusing power for a personal joyride. âNot all copsâ rape people at gunpoint (and get off scott-fucking-free).
Yet, at my place of employment, somehow everyone is calm in a crisis. Somehow everyone responds to violence with non-violence. Somehow everyone is always able to act like a goddamn compassionate human-being in the middle of the worst kind of street fightâ
but youâre telling me that cops, people paid to protect, canât all do what I do?
Youâre telling me that cops, trained to respond to crises, canât all respond to the same crises, with the same skill, that I do?
And youâre telling me that cops have to stick together in the face of these âpotentially falseâ accusations. That cops have to support each other, no matter what, because their job is dangerous or whatever. That yeah, some cops, but ~actually, sweetie, not all cops~
Fuck that noise. My job is dangerous, too. But you better believe that if anyone sees a member of our staff breaking regulation, their ass gets reported immediately. That person loses their clearances; they can no longer be hired in the field, anywhere. Thereâs no moving to another district. Thereâs no finding another location. We make it stop.
So until every cop is cleaning house, until every cop stops this strategically blind bullshit, until every cop refuses to stand by and watch the rampant abuse and corruption inherent in this system, until all the bad cops are weeded out and unemployableâ
Until that moment, then yeah, all cops.
I wrote this in 2015. Five years ago, I thought weâd have made some sweeping changes by now.
can we just talk about the time that Lupin was recovering from a full moon and Snape taught the DADA class and made all the students write essays on how to kill werewolves for Lupin to read when he got back I hate Snape so much itâs not funny
Lupin gets back and he feels like crap and suddenly his best friendâs son is writing an essay about how to kill him like that is so fucked up
Bear in mind that an ex-Death Eater does this to someone who was in the Order, risked his life fighting against said Death Eaters and lost his best friends to the Death Eaterâs genocidal leader, for the sole purpose of screwing him over, and as far as we know he experiences no consequences whatsoever for doing so.
And if that wasnât enough, he made them write those essays hoping some of them would realize Lupinâs a werewolf. And one did, but Hermione is a fucking DECENT HUMAN BEING and said nothing. Apparently the âinsufferable know-it-all' can keep her mouth closed, when itâs for something important. Just like Snape didnât do at the end of the book.
Iâm getting mad, so hereâs something Iâve realized while reading The Order of the Phoenix again. (Please keep in mind that my books are in Italian and some concepts might be hard to explain, I apologize for my English mistakes)
In chapter 14, when The Trio talked with Sirius, he said that two years before Dolores Umbridge had written a law against werewolves that made it almost impossible for Lupin to find a job.
Now ask yourself this question. Why two years?
What had happened two years before? During Harryâs third year? Oh, right. The Magical World had discovered that one of Hogwartsâ teachers (someone who was in constant conctat with their children) was a werewolf. Does that ring any bell?
But thatâs not all! If we take a look at chapter 15, in the Daily Prophet article we can see a familiar name: Remus Lupin. In a newspaper. Where everyone can read it. âThe werewolf Remus Lupinâ. No wonder he couldnât find a job! And itâs not the first time the Daily Prophet has written about him, as itâs stated in the article itself. There must have been a huge scandal when it had all come out.
So basically, when Snape decided he couldnât bear not having what he wanted (for example, SIRIUS BLACK GETTING KISSED BY A DEMENTOR) and spilled the secret, he didnât only tell the whole school. He didnât only tell the kidsâ parents. The told the whole Magical World.
He told the whole Magical World that a man who had kept his condition secret all his life was a werewolf.
And the Magical World responded with a law against werewolves.
So, basically, Snape didnât only ruin Remus Lupinâs life. He ruined the life of every single werewolf in the UK.
But, you know. Bravest man I ever knew.
I will never not reblog how horrible Snape was. A great character? Why of course. But a great man? Absolutely disgusting.
Severus Snape is a garbage human being, and I will die on that hill.
God gave me the underrated gift of not being born into a english speaking country and the Idiot Me decided to become fluent in it and understand the things america people say and my quality of life been dwindling since

Itâs cruel that I spent so much time with James and Lily, and you so little.
Reasons to stan Snape
1) He called his best friend a mudblood
2) Used dark magic and invented cruel spells
3) Attmepted to expose Remus for being a werewolf and ruin the life of a man who has suffered so much already.
4) Joined the death eaters and followed a man who wanted to commit genocide on a population he didnât see worthy
5) Terrorized Neville so much that his boggart was Snape. Neville remembers his parents being tortured by Bellatrix but his greatest fear is Snape.
6) Bullied his students every chance he got. Used his power over them to humiliate them and make them feel weak so that he could feel strong
7) Mocked Hermioneâs teeth until she was crying
8) Constantly brought up Harryâs father and bad mouthed him just because he didnât like him.
9) physically abused Harry in OOTP and threw him on the ground.
10) A general all around asshole. Bullied other students in school and didnât mind his business.
11) Only joined the order of the Phoenix because it was either that or Azkaban. Not only a coward but an unloyal coward.
These are the reasons I love Snape â¨
