Memories of #wales – National Slate Museum in Llanberis 🚐💚⛰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🚂 Free living museum in a former Victorian quarry that tells the story of the Welsh slate industry. The Workshops and Buildings are designed as though quarrymen and engineers have just put down their tools and left the courtyard for home. We all loved watching a blacksmith at work (see video), very friendly and patient with the little investigator. You can buy his creations in the gift shop; we got an iron feather keyring. I love these little unique reminders of our adventures, make me smile on a meh day. You can see the water-powered machinery in motion that made the tools for quarrying slate, and the magnificent Waterwheel (so worth of climb even on a bad knee day) that gives them life - the largest on the British mainland. Little one loved fully operational steam engine from 1905. There were also several charming craft shops where you can watch craftsmen at work, which girls of the family naturally couldn’t miss out on. 😉 Museum based near Lake Padarn in Padarn Country Park with stunning views and plenty of other attractions to visit, here is some of those: 💚Llanberis Lake Railway @llanberislakerailway 💚Dolbadarn Castle 💚Vivian Quarry 💚Anglesey Barracks 💚Llanberis Miners Hospital We shall be back to explore it all again! Memories of #wales - Betws-y-Coed 💚🚐⛰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🌲 One of our favourite villages in Snowdonia, we came back there a few times during our trip, one of those places where you feel relaxed, easy and happy. Heron watching from the picturesque old bridge surrounded by lush greenery was a firm favourite (see the last video). Tan Aeldroch Farm was the most memorable campsite of the whole trip, hidden in the beautiful valley with heavenly views - definitely a HAPPY PLACE. There are beautiful walks all around, including the village itself with art galleries, crafts and outdoor shops, nice places to eat (@hangin_pizzeria was regularly visited and a great breakfast spot @alpinecoffeeshop ) and one of the oldest churches in Wales. #wales trip highlights 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💚⛰️🌳🐏🌊🚐 Elan Valley - beautiful dams, reservoirs and 73 mile aqueduct of the Elan Valley were built a hundred years ago to supply desperately needed clean water to Birmingham. It was an epic feat of civil engineering set within an area of outstanding scenic beauty. We haven't explored it all, it’ll be a place to come back on our next trip.
