LUKA NĂĂEZ by holydepthsâ.
He laughs, dragging the toe of his shoe along the dirt, and watching as the dust settles. â Yeah, well, they might let pretty little girls like you off on probation when you can afford expensive ass lawyers. â A scott escapes him. Sheâs right. He would like to make it more fun â calamity made things interesting, and stakes raising were a good idea to boost his adrenaline. But not with things like that: money, that was the goal. And not getting CAUGHT. â But Iâm gonna get life sentence, or the chair. And I donât think youâd want that? Right? â Eyes flick over her. â Nowhere to get your kicks with no one on the wrong side of town to throw money at, right? â
heâs putting on a fight, though hardly as ferocious as the one she was expecting. instead, she sees  an in : an opportunity, and GREEN LIGHT for further persuasion. â you think iâm some sort of adrenaline junkie ? â she scoffs, thick brows quirked. â iâm not doing this for kicks, luka. â the name feels foreign on her tongue, uninvited â but not bad. strange is the term sheâd use to describe the sensation and so she hurries on. â not that it matters âcos if youâre as good as youâve lead me to believe ⌠you wonât be seeing the inside of a cell any time soon. â beat. â and neither will i. â confidence laces each word and she wholly believes in a future without complications. â iâm offering you a human punching bag. so by all means, take a swing. take fifteen. but a bullet to the head ? thatâs easy. too easy ⌠boring. âÂ

STEVEN KINNEY by soulsbledâ.
he hates this. hates lying to the people he loves. but itâs safer, that they donât know what he gets himself into. that heâs self-destructing and getting worse by the day. he paints a smile on his face, nodding. â alright, iâll cut back, i promise. â the lie stings in his chest, but it comes out easy, just like all of his lies do. itâs second nature now. if itâs what he has to do, to keep them at bay, heâll do it. heâd do anything to protect sawyer and sienna â even if he was protecting them from himself. â no ? saw, you know iâm not ⌠gonna give you grief or anything. iâm just checking in. â a beat. â just wanna know that youâre okay. â another beat, and he pulls his hand back. â no, i donât. iâm fine with just ice, sawyer. i canât â i canât afford a hospital bill anyways. just give me some ice and iâll be good. i have an ace bandage in the bathroom. âÂ
his hand retreats and EXHAUSTION paints her face. this hadnât been the way sheâd planned on spending her afternoon, or any afternoons for that matter. and though obligation towards her brother was felt in ABUNDANCE, she also wanted him to know it was unfair. on all of them. â you know, â youâre making it really hard for me to, like ⌠stay cool right now. â she falls back in her seat, continuing. â i canât keep playing doctor, steven. iâm not a nurse, iâm not even a vet ! â graduation loomed in the near future, though that only handed her a degree in biology â not the handbook on how to stitch a person back up. â one day somethingâs gonna get infected and youâre gonna end up in the hospital, anyway. and itâll be on me âcause i was STUPID ENOUGH to help you out. â
SIENNA KINNEY by holydepthsâ.
Annoyance flickers across her face, and arms are crossed over her chest â immediately on the defense, ready to argue. It was the way she WAS, and family was no exception. If anything, the amount of dedication she had for her siblings was what increased it. She knew what was right, what was best for them. And not listening was never an option. â I just want whatâs BEST for you, Sawyer. And thatâs not â HERE! â Thereâs a semblance of honesty that trickles out next, however she tries to suppress what her objections are really about. â I just ⌠donât want you to get stuck here, you know? â Like I did, is the part thatâs unspoken. She questions if Sawyer has the same insatiable sort of hunger for moving on that she does. Bigger, better, non-Sheffield things. Maybe their lack of similarities is a wider chasm than she originally thought.Â
an exasperated sigh passes through her lips, and shoulders slump in a form of resignation. â weâre not the same person, sienna. â not even close. despite the bumps and scrapes found on her older brother, their resemblance was much closer. athletic, committal, less ⌠sienna. â just âcause you would rather be FIVE HUNDRED MILES from here doesnât mean i feel that way, too. â sawyer hadnât felt the same urge sienna had. not since their parentsâ passing. she was clinging for dear life onto this small town which she grew up in, where remnants of those missing remained. she saw her mother in siennaâs features and in the kitchen where she loved to cook. and she saw her father in her brother, in the way he got frustrated with his sistersâ bickering and in the way he put their needs ahead of his own. she couldnât leave that behind. not yet. maybe not ever. â this is my home. where i have you guys, and my friends ⌠and my BOYFRIEND. â beat. â you donât know what i want or whatâs best for me, iâm sorry but you just donât. â
ELLIOT MOORE by holydepthsâ.
There was nothing, REALISTICALLY, that he could offer in return. His job ( or at least, the one he was PRETENDING to have ) didnât have the same lucrative measures that Oliverâs did. While he could certainly afford to pay her, or at the VERY least get her the requested six packs, it still feels as if his friend is getting the rough end of the deal. Chivalry, or merely solid friendship, perhaps BOTH â but he shakes his head. â Let me pay half. And get you the six packs. Friends and family discount, I get one of the beers too. â He sticks his hand out, cementing the idea that this is his deal. Take it or leave it, Hyung.Â
the price was steep and with a governmentâs salary, she predicted the repair would blow a gasket sized hole in her friendâs wallet. oliver, however, kept a stash beneath her mattress, another in the back of her freezer, and a third somewhere at the bottom of her laundry basket. she wasnât BOASTFUL with her assets, and with a personality cheap, her savings stacked up rather than dwindled. she could cover the costs left behind by her employee discount and she could work without charge. it was an act of CHARITY with sprinkles of attempts to shield his ego on top. â youâre impossible. â she sighs, and a hand extends forward â palm flat, resignation on tan features. â alright, gimme a hundred. â a sliver of what was demanded of the customer, though she refrains from letting him know just that. â i mean, you could take your business elsewhere but ⌠donât wanna pay for a tow 'ta hartford, and then take the bus all the way back, do ya ? lotta work. lotta money. â pause. â take it â or leave it. â

MALACHAI KNOX by soulsbledâ.
heâs lucky, really, to have the sort of relationship he has with both of the alvarez women. with ava, itâs one of trust that borders on fatherhood, a tendency to want to jump to protection before anything else. with odette, itâs ⌠something else entirely. theyâd known each other for most of their lives â heâd been in love with her for almost as long. it was trust but taken to another level, an underlying understanding of who they both were as people. they saw both the good and the bad of one another, and yet here they were â still part of one anotherâs lives. he knows what pushes her buttons, and how to change topics with her like the wind changes direction. itâs why he switches to talk of drinks and mundanity, rather than letting her thoughts linger on daughter who mirrors her mother in so many ways neither of them would be willing to admit. â bit dramatic, donât you think ? whoâll get you drinks then ? â tone is mocking, and words are called to her from the other room. where sheâs dramatic, heâs logical â the two of them making for opposites, which then makes them the perfect fit for one another, though heâd never say it out loud. they work in harmony, her dramatics quelled by his logistics. it just ⌠works. he seats himself back on the couch, kicking feet up onto the table with a sigh. â thank you â i try my best, to bring humor to your life. â a beat, and he gives her a faux scowl. â if you want me to be any sort of a butler, o, you better get to paying me. â itâs paired with a snort, and he takes a sip of his own drink.
it is a valid inquiry ââ who would ? suppose sheâd still have ava, though she wasnât about to let her daughter take a walk in her footsteps. she doesnât MULL IT OVER often enough, though one might say she should â the life sheâd lead without kai. the one she wouldâve wound up living had she never met him. sheâd be awfully lonely, that much was obvious, but it isnât company she seeks from him. itâs SOMETHING ELSE. and whatever it was, whatever it was that he gave her, she held it close. she didnât have time to consider the alternative for itâd only manifest the fear of losing it. so she doesnât. the thought is waved away with an instance, and instead she looks his way. â paying you ? â a simper grows but it remains at bay. â isnât my mere presence and undying loyalty payment enough ? â sheâs only kidding, of course, though a sliver of sincerity could be spotted in her expression. wasnât this  enough â the two of them, like this ⌠doing what it is they had always done, and hopefully always would.Â
AVA ALVAREZ by holydepthsâ.
SHOCK. The first, primary emotion thatâs elicited from Ava. She almost sputters, the words sorry something she hadnât expected. Immediate acceptance is tempting, especially considering her own apology had preceded it â but she ponders for a moment, looking at her mother through widened eyes. She grants it. â I know, â She says finally, gaze cast downward instead of directly seeking eye contact. The two are more alike than either of them would like to ADMIT, headstrong and unable to admit their own fault in a given situation. Unsure if itâs a byproduct of how she was raised, or merely the apple not falling far from the tree, she shuffles awkwardly before making her way over to the couch. â I really am sorry. Next time, Iâll skip for something thatâs more worth it. â She flops down next to her mother, head pressed against shoulder. â Like if theyâre giving away free Slurpees at 7-11. Or if I see a stray dog in the parking lot, and I need to smuggle it home in my jacket. â Smile is soft, and indicates that the scenarios ARE in jest â though she canât exactly say she wouldnât skip out on gym class in those circumstances. â I love you, mom. Just ⌠â Voice is lowered, with a cursory glance towards the kitchen. Silence gives her the go-ahead. â Donât let Kai see, or heâll make me pose for celebratory forgiveness pictures. AGAIN. â
usually the nurturing tender of grudges, odetteâs ways were ALTERED around her daughter, and animosity was quick to dissipate. rather she lets go off her magazine, tossing it onto the living room table, making room for ava in the process. her daughterâs ranting brings on the urge to CORRECT AND PARENT, though itâs one that she stifles for the moment. she lets her have it. and when the reminder of their roommateâs past action is sprung on her, she cannot help but let out a soft chuckle. â and let him take all the credit ? no way. â sheâd always had TROUBLE admitting wrong, though acknowledging other peopleâs rights was all the more difficult. even when it came to malachai knox. â his headâs already freakishly big. we donât need to add an inflated ego to the mix. â pause, and a glance is thrown at ava. â he might just float away. weâre doing him a favor. âÂ
EMMA PHILLIPS by holydepthsâ.
Emma scoffs halfway through her next sip, nearly choking on her drink. â Okay, OUCH. I know guys and girls can be friends. â A pause. â Iâm just friends with Mickey ⌠now. And Iâve always been just friends with Jack. â Emphasis is given on the latter half, considering the first doesnât give her much ground to stand on. One for two is kind of a shitty average, but she digresses. NOW: focus is on her friend, and thank GOD for that, considering Emmaâs own romantic history ( or lack thereof ) gives her more headache than anything else. She knows better than to press further, but with Odetteâs own comment rubbing her the wrong way â and the social lubricant that was liquor making conversation easier, she continues. â Whatever. Sure. BROTHER. All Iâm saying is that if you send Ava off to summer camp or something, itâs gonna be a little less All in The Family and a little more Bachelorette, you know? âÂ
the glass becomes an extension of herself, lips pressed against the brim each time an uncomfortable topic is broached. and the way the conversation was going, itâs damn near every other second. â jack does not count ! â she protests. â heâs like, this ⌠nonsexual being. iâm not even sure he has anything â down there. â free hand gestures vaguely to the souther regions, reluctant to make a cruder commentary about her friendâs genitals. â iâm not you, âkay. i donât get a fucking lady boner whenever a dude holds the door open for me. â she rarely even thanks them. â youâre reading too much into it. like you do ⌠LITERALLY EVERYTHING. â a larger chug this time, and tan features wrinkle in response. she was in need of a diversion, and a damn good one, too. one might even call her desperate. â in fact, â she starts again, leaning forwards in the futon bedding. â it sounds to me like youâre the one with hots for kai. â yep, she was going there. â i could set you guys up if you want. iâm sure the two of you would look super duper cute together. all mushy and shit. âÂ

ELISABETH DENT by soulsbledâ.
wry smile, and she shakes her head. â we both know thatâs not true, mick. i knew you had a girlfriend, when it all started, and i kept going. GOD, i even became her friend while sleeping with you. youâre not the only one to blame. and i canât let you â i canât let you try and take it all on yourself. i mean, the town already kinda decided my guilt anyways â canât change that. â shoulders rise and fall in a gentle shrug. yeah, maybe he was the one whoâd instigated the whole thing, whoâd sought out a way to ruin his relationship with emma, even if it wasnât a conscious decision. but sheâd gone along with it, befriended his girlfriend, and made a home for herself right in the middle of the two of them. she was as much to blame as he was. fingers run through the ends of blonde hair as she tries to busy them, anxiety picking at her slowly. â it wasnât, mick. itâs not your fault iâve blamed myself, either. â pause. â it was easier this way. no need to add ties to places i donât belong, anyways. i made my bed years ago, itâs time i lay in it. â expression is soft â sheâs accepted this as her fate.
perhaps they were more alike than theyâd even begun to detectâ guilt never absent, present throughout, NO MATTER the pleading of others to forgive themselves. still, the similarities and known issues with moving on does not stop mickey from trying what others attempt with him. â theyâve gotten over it. â he begins. â most of them, anyway. â truth be told, he wasnât anywhere close to knowing who held an unjustifiable grudge and who did not. all he knew was that time passed and time was supposed to heal all wounds. â and - and so have i. â long ago. â so thereâs no point to BLAMING YOURSELF, alright, or â abstaining from anything, okay ? youâre forgiven. free of whatever bullshit imposed on you. â with a hand to his chest, and the other gesturing with lazy movements towards the other, he starts again. â by the power invested in me by the state of new york ⌠i absolve you of any blame. â pause, and a grin. â youâre welcome. â

EMMA PHILLIPS by holydepthsâ.
Eyes roll, but thereâs little she can do to react NEGATIVELY to him, considering the fact that a second more drawn away from him and sheâd end up bottoms up on the ice. â PRETTY COOL? Alright, Degrassi, Iâm aboot to get a red card for beating you up. â Sheâs sure red cards are in hockey, not just soccer. Pretty sure. Emma would make an attempt to dole out a playful SMACK as promised, but again ⌠letting go still isnât a viable option. Movements made with her own skates are minimal, merely scooting along as the older does all the real work. â Whatever, Mick, you can do moose calls and ice skated out of the womb, maple syrup in your BLOOD and all that. â Sheâs noticed now a five year old has lapped them, and half of her is tempted to do as several preschoolers have done and SQUAT on the ice, refusing to move. Immature, maybe, but closer to the ground, less likely to fall. She glances at him out of the corner of her eye, staying rigid and unturned in fear sheâll TOPPLE. However, thereâs still the semblance of a smile on her face. â But Iâm from Missouri, okay? The Ozarks. Not the NORTH POLE. â
itâs a peculiar situation to insert BANTER into, even more so when the object is your EX-GIRLFRIEND. though, the fact doesnât seem to stop emma, and so neither does it mickey. â actually, itâs marinara sauce â not syrup. but hey, canât expect you to remember the whole second half of whatâs your BEST FRIEND. â he pokes, feigned offense to be heard in his tone. â fifty-fifty, baby ⌠sure, canadian genes ? giving me an upper-hand, some might even say a genetic advantage, but â still got that italian blood running through my veins. â itâs more of a third than a half, though thatâs a topic for another day. or rather, when it fits the narrative mickeyâs attempting to create. â meaning i had to WORK, too. and i still got you beat. thought missouri wouldâve given you at least an edge, but damn ⌠this is just embarrassing. â pausing for a moment, mickey takes the opportunity to stifle a growing grin. â not as embarrassing than you forcing canadian stereotypes on your multi-ethnic friend, though. â
