Do you stand by Ao3 repeatedly defending RPF of real children? And how one of their mods was fired not for writing a fic about a IRL 17-year old being raped as a baby, but for being publicly pro-Palestine?
how or why a mod was fired is not something about which I have enough knowledge to have an opinion on. this is actually the first time I've heard about this, so I won't talk about it when I am clueless about it (and you'll have to forgive me for not condemning something or someone — if your goal is for me to condemn AO3(?) — over a claim made via an anonymous message on the internet where anyone can say anything).
as for RPF — Real Person Fiction in general, no matter if it's about a minor or an adult, makes me uncomfortable, personally, as I have already talked about it here. but my personal opinion (which is that I do not like RPF) shouldn't matter when I personally can choose not to read things that make me uncomfortable.
so, no, I don't like RPF. what I'm gonna do about it is that I'm not gonna read RPF fics. that's it. I won't harass anybody. I won't go and scream "stop writing RPF. RPF is bad" at random strangers, because not only would I end up being unable to actually stop anybody from creating RPF, I would just be creating a hostile environment for everybody as well as doing damages to my own mental health. therefore I just... mind my own business and ignore things I don't like.
because "no censorship" means no censorship. no matter how disgusting, how fucked up, how morally questionable or socially unacceptable the fic in question is.
people often mistake anti censorship stance for "condoning every single thing that was portrayed/depicted in a piece of art, be it fanfics, original works, drawings, or any other form of art", when what anti censorship stance actually means is "minding one's own business, being against harassment, curating one's own internet experience, filtering out and ignoring things that might make one upset or uncomfortable, and understanding that art can also be about things that are disgusting, fucked up, morally questionable and socially unacceptable without being censored or having its existence banned or denied" because once you allow one thing to be censored, next thing you know, everything — including the things you do love — will be censored.
*in case of RPF, if someone were to take a legal action against an author for the thing said author wrote about said someone, then that's not censorship in my opinion. because the art do exist without being censored. but if the person, that's being written about, finds a fic defamatory or if they deem it a form of harassment and wish to pursue a legal action, then that's another story. but I believe AO3 protects its users against legal action with a team of lawyers of their own, given that the works on AO3 are nonprofit and fiction, but that's the case for fanfics about fictional characters as far as I know, I don't know much about RPF.
overall, I stand by AO3's anti censorship stance, and that means I understand that things I personally Do Not like — things I find disgusting — will and can exist without the artists ever being deserving of being harassed. that also means I can freely choose to ignore and not engage with those things that I personally Do Not like.
and if you want censorship, then AO3 is simply not a place for you.
if you are personally not okay with AO3's policy or how/why they allegedly let one of their mods go, then you can simply use other sites, other platforms that are not AO3.
