Valley!Verse

He assured Rocky as he tugged the blanket up over the three, nudging it around them with his nose ‘tucking’ them in.

Michael, B, and P all stepped out to let them rest and get things ready, the portal needed to be watched, supplies gathered for repairs.

Pappy and Bobble had explained to Rocky what was up with him being a giraffe.  And then the squirrel HatchWorth clung to the giraffe for about an hour.

They were being taken care of.  Water, care, love, people, conversation, safety, warmth.  While he missed his brother Goliath, he felt safe here.  Safer than he had in a long time.  He could relax, could take a break from being Warren’s guardian, even though he fretted over his “out of it” state.  He had family here.

A real family.  Not a flock that was held together out of fear and need.  But a family.  And that was a powerful force.

The portal was always being monitored, there was always someone to watch after Warren's prone form, they'd done what quick repairs they could on all three of the bots, The Spine was staying as far from them as he could (minus a few moments when he'd run into bobble on accident and spent the entire interaction apologizing for his other self), and Pappy had spent the whole three days coddling them.

One of the larger guest bedrooms, this one with a spacious four poster bed, was chosen for them to rest in. Pappy lowering his neck so that Bobble could slide off, if he was ever willing to let go of his sort of creators metal neck that was.

Rocky gently lay Warren on the bed, and instantly Bobble wrapped himself around his copper brother, snuggling into what was left of his feathers.  Rocky smiled at his “extended family” and patted the giraffe on the shoulder.

"Awww, he’s asleep." P couldn’t help but coo at the sight of Bobble flopped over Pappy’s neck.

The manor was huge, there were plenty of rooms the three bots could take up residents in while they recovered, Michael shooting a quick message to the P and B in the other room.

"Oh oh oh! Don’t cry!" P cooed, fussing over him.

B made a worried noise as she looked over Rabbit’s unconscious and damaged form 

"I like that idea.  I’m tired."

"I am sorry.  It has just been so long since I have seen so well.  Or had such good care.  I am not sad."  Rocky smiled happily, though it fell a little as B offered to take Warren.

"Awww, he's asleep" P couldn't help but coo at the sight of Bobble flopped over pappys neck

Pappy jumped at the sudden commotion he’d caused, jerking back and to his full height only to smack his head on the ceiling and yank it back down, bending his neck carefully now to try and keep from breaking anything else.

He spread his hooves apart so he wasn’t standing on any of the shatterd frame and worriedly bent to inspect it, mumbling worriedly to himself.

His head ducked just a little lower at the shout and the oddly enough pantsless man who stormed out to confront him.

"Oh, this is the good one of The Spine too!  Told Matt he shouldn’t get real glass but do they listen, no.  Of course not.  ’If you’re going to spend money do it right’ oh yeah it sounds good at the time but god fuck one little tip and it goes to hell.  At least it didn’t rip.  And who the hell are you?"

He rolled the poster up, and with a snap of his fingers a rubber band appeared in his hand.

~The Spine?~ Pappy muttered curiously, ~Hatchy?~

"We could try to fix it." Michael offers, there’s a sad edge to his tone, upset over what had been done to his ‘extended family.’ "I bet we could figure out how to put it back, make it so you can power down all the way again."

"Oof! You got him good too from the look of it." P commented as she took in the damage. They could pop those dents out easy though.

With a delicate hand B easily bends the glasses so they’ll sit properly on the bronze bot, tilting his head up so she can test them and make minor adjustments.

He’d gotten distracted and had let his boiler get dangerously low, so it was off to the kitchen for a drink.

He glanced around once he was there to make sure no one was about and ducked his head down to the faucet. Long, prehensile metal tongue snaking out to turn the handle so he could lap the water straight from the tap exactly how he’d told his boys not to countless times.

More modern ones, of a snake man with snakes for hair.  A wolf man howling at the moon.  A two headed man holding a conversation with himself.

The poster that Pappy had knocked over was of the three robots, washed out and wrinkled, damaged by water and age, broke on the floor.  The glass shattered, the frame jumping away to hit the thin wall.  This caused a ruckus to rise from room four.  A door across the room flew open, and a short, fat man in a gaudy suit without pants stormed out of it.

"SHUT YOUR FACES!  What is going on in-who the hell are you!"

"Uh-huh.  Sh-she’s a person.  Grey peoples wifout faces mu-made her a robutt f’a week.  She ain’t doin’ so good."

He gave Delilah a harsh look, stance widening a bit in a way that somehow suggested hands on hips.

"I don’t care. Being a robot is stupid. You can’t feel anything, you can’t eat, you can’t even sit down. I want to be a person again!"

Rabbit couldn’t look up from the floor. Delilah stomped her feet, before she took off running again, anything to get away from her little brother.

"Good.  I hate robots."

“‘Lilah!  Take that back!”

"Nope!  Not gonna!"

Well this is new (well, technically old) 

His ears flipped back at the little giraffes outburst and he huffed a steam filled laugh, long neck bending down to be near eye level with them and with a voice they would probably find rather familiar said

"Pappy?  Dija get hit by da gr-grey peoples too?"

It was all exactly as he remembered it.

Pappy lifted his metal leg out of the path of the two tots, turning to watch them wiz by.

“‘Lilah, ya gotsa tell ya legs t’stop.”

"How?"

"Ya just tell ‘em."

"This is so stupid and hard!  I hate being a robot!"

"Well too bad!  Sum a us ain’t got no ova choice.  Bein’ a robutt ain’t so bad."

"Yes it is.  I want my body back."

It was then that they noticed the much bigger giraffe watching them, and fell quiet.

Then Delilah started to wail.
