[A message has arrived - though it seems like it got sent to the wrong person.]
[Oleander]: Got the data you sent about the squirrel, didnât see anything out of the ordinary except for something in the ego extraction report, thought it might be of interest unless you already spotted it?
@v-7768-atziluth
[Smoke]: Think your message got to the wrong facility mate.
[Smoke]: This is Facility X-394, not Facility V-7768.
[Smoke]: To be fair, I think something is messing with the whole corporation's communicators or smth. That's probably why I'm gettin' this message rather than whoever you were trying to send this to, lass(?).
(Snipped from here)
[Oleander]: If you donât have access to the cameras how do you they were lying?
[Oleander]: Somehow corpse-powered robots is the least weird thing about this place, i watched a giant house with a bird leg crush a bunch of clerks
[Oleander]: Hanaâs real stingy about information, they looked about ready to blow a gasket when they found out we didnât get anything interesting off of the squirrel when it breached
[Oleander]: Speaking of which, I gotta make sure they actually get that report, was nice chattin with you though, hope we get to talk again soon
[A message has arrived - though it seems like it got sent to the wrong person.]

[Oleander]: Oh damn, itâs been a while since somethin of mine got sent the wrong place, forgot it could do that, and yeah lass works
[Oleander]: Might have to log this, glad i didnât send the highlighted file, hana wouldâve been all over my case
[Oleander]: You got a squirrel over there too or is that just us?
[Smoke]: We don't have a squirrel. Didn't know there was a squirrel abno until now.
[Oleander]: Huh, weird
[Oleander]: Big scraggly lookin thing, missin the cheeks on its face so you can see the fangs, got these weird runes on the tail, massive bugger too
[Oleander]: Any funky abnos over there on your end?
[Smoke].... We have a dude that mimics a failed clone of the corporation's founder-His official thing is "The Monster in The Mirror" but the weird failed clone he's a lookalike of alongside two of the other failed clones (All of the clones except for one don't look like the corporation's founder at all lol) call that abno "Aaron".
[Smoke]: And a weird heart abno that's a aberration of Nothing There called Realism.
[Smoke]: Aaaaand no I realized I just gave out some very classified company secret that I technically shouldn't have but ah well.
[Oleander] Lol iâm not really allowed to talk about the squirrel either so iâd say weâre pretty even i think
[Oleander]: Iâll share more about my classified secrets if you share more of yours?
[Smoke]: Sure, as long as this is kept between us...
[Smoke]: Also hold on a moment...
[Smoke has locked the message logs, only Smoke and Oleander can view & interact with/in this message log]
[Smoke]: There, now we won't be found out exchanging stuff like this.
[Smoke]: Though I know my twin sister will probably see all this. Ex-Beholders are a technological force to be reckoned with.
[Smoke]: Oh, and I used to be an Arbiter by the way. The head dumped me and my sister onto L-Corp for reasons unknown to either of us.
[Oleander]: Oh neat
[Oleander]: I fought an arbiter once
[Oleander]: Man that was a fun weekend
[Oleander]: Anyway
[Oleander]: Based on the readings from the attempt at ego extraction on the squirrel, itâs part of a trio that can react to each other in a massive way, the squirrel seems to mainly act as a catalyst - speeding up the reaction rather than causing it
[Oleander]: No data on the other two yet, no idea if they even exist yet or if theyâre purely theoretical
[Oleander]: Weirdly enough weâve also got one called grandmother pain, thought she might be an aberration of the old lady at first but thereâs no way thatâs the case after what happened to the old training team
[Smoke]: Interesting
[Smoke]: Realism managed to trick us all that he was an agent until earlier today, when someone upped the Qlipoth Deterrence in one of the departments and he just. Turned into a heart. He was placed into a containment unit afterwards.
[Smoke]: Also what was that about fighting an arbiter?
[Oleander]: Iâve killed two of em actually, took a few days each but it was worth it
[Oleander]: Killed a claw too, and almost got a beholder once
[Oleander]: Slippery bastard managed to get away while i was distracted
[Oleander]: Anyway i donât think weâve had any aberrations here yet, but i heard the new hire for welfare has the ego suit from somethin called army in yellow so thatâs fun
[Oleander]: Did that realism fella actually do any harm or was he just hangin out?
[Smoke]: Realism was just working. Had been for a long time.
[Smoke]: I do think I remember some time ago about hearing some of my higher ups talkin' about some dude who managed to kill four of my fellow Arbiters. I'm guessing that was you or something.
[Smoke]: Also quite surprised you killed a Claw. I think I heard something from my sister before she was given to B-Corp and transitioned that some dude killed 6 claws. And to come back to the dead arbiters, my old higher ups think it was the same guy who killed the Claws.
[Smoke]: And I think I remember my sister telling me about a few of her coworkers getting gravely injured while on what was both a mission and a test on a thing the higher ups of B-Corp were making for the Beholders.
[Smoke]: Almost all beholders are never out on the field. Due to B-Corps stuff involve surveillance and whatnot.
[Smoke]: In fact, my own sister said that most of her job outside of being the "man... well girl in the chair" on my missions, she also mostly just looked through people's search histories and whatnot.
[Smoke]: Also most Beholders are weird. And almost all of them are in some percentage voyeurs. Though I am jealous that they don't have a dress code and can wear what they want.
[Smoke]: Though for more Beholder stuff you'd have to ask my sister. She'd tell you some stuff for a price. Also warning: She's a whale. Do not give her any money she'll just blow it all on gacha games.
[Smoke]: Overall though, I'm impressed that you managed to fight and even kill some of us Head-Eye-Claw agents.
[Oleander]: To be fair, it wasnât really my fault we were fightin
[Oleander]: Well not at first anyway
[Oleander]: If iâd known that auction was gonna have that i wouldnât have taken the job to watch the place
[Oleander]: Though if i were the head i wouldnât want a claw arm being sold to anyone either
[Oleander]: Anyway, was realism actually harmful in any way, out of curiosity?
[Smoke]: Realism wasn't harmful at all
[Smoke]: In fact, shortly before he got revealed as an abnormality my sister said that he was trying to get an injured and unconscious agent to safety. Though I think someone who wanted to cause harm tricked one of the Sephirot to heighten the Qlipoth Deterrence somehow.
[Oleander]: Do you ever stop and think about like
[Oleander]: Why would something that would have been trapped in some empty cell depriving it of whatever life it was adapted to decide to help its captors instead of killing them
[Oleander]: Why would it do that when it seems like itâs intelligent enough to know that the right thing for you to do is not return the favor
[Oleander]: Makes me wonder if those things are sentient instead of just being really good at pretending
[Oleander]: Anyway whatâs a sephirot
[A message has arrived - though it seems like it got sent to the wrong person.]

Im ready to go get my gun @avisimperii
âHm?â (Maximin looks up.)
âI Left it at my house in another dimension. Do you where Michael isâ
{Snipped from here}
âThatâs it, there you go. What did she mean to you? What does the estate mean to you?â
(Maximin steps out of the containment unit.)
(Something about the air seems to almost . . . shift, or maybe twist. Some kind of distortion of the light, perhaps?)
(The E.G.O. Gift CENSORED on Michaelâs face shifts in a strange and almost undulating way, revealing just a sliver of a single eye.)
(A single, beautiful, shining, pure eye.)
âMy brain doesnât want me to rememberâ
âAnd I am telling it no.â
âWhat did she mean to you?â
Feathers are creeping up Caesars neck
âSheâŠâ
âNot what sheâs done.â
âWhat she means, to you.â
âShe was my only friend in that horrible placeâ
âAnd this estate, it was the last thing she gave to you?â
(An odd sort of fog seems to be filling the room, yet the only things that seem to be obscured are the walls and floor and ceiling, not Caesar or Michael.)
Caesar nods
âWhat does that feel like?â
(The fog seems to grow still, unnaturally so.)
(Almost like itâs . . .
. . . waiting.)
âItâs the only place i truly feel safeâ
(And the fog swirls up around Caesar.)
(When it dissipates, Caesar is standing at the entrance of the estate.)

(Maximin steps out of the containment unit.)
(Something about the air seems to almost . . . shift, or maybe twist. Some kind of distortion of the light, perhaps?)
(The E.G.O. Gift CENSORED on Michaelâs face shifts in a strange and almost undulating way, revealing just a sliver of a single eye.)
(A single, beautiful, shining, pure eye.)
âMy brain doesnât want me to rememberâ
âAnd I am telling it no.â
âWhat did she mean to you?â
Feathers are creeping up Caesars neck
âSheâŠâ
âNot what sheâs done.â
âWhat she means, to you.â
Im ready to go get my gun @avisimperii
âHm?â (Maximin looks up.)
âI Left it at my house in another dimension. Do you where Michael isâ

Im ready to go get my gun @avisimperii
âHm?â (Maximin looks up.)
âI Left it at my house in another dimension. Do you where Michael isâ
âNot currently but I can contact him if you need me to?â
âGood. As i have said i feel kind of insecure without a weaponâ
(They nod, then reach up to their hidden earpiece.) âConductor to Archangel, Magpie to head home.â (A brief moment and then,) âCopy.â
(Maximin turns back to Caesar.) âHe should be here soon. I hope to see you again, preferably in better terms,â (they say with a slight smile.)
âIâll be back⊠hopefully of my own accordâ
(Another nod.) âWould you prefer I stay until Michael gets here?â
Ceasar nods
âThen here I shall stay.â (Maximin goes quiet, their eyes focused on nothing in particular as though deep in thought.)
âWhat does it meanâ
âHm?â
Caesar looks forlorn
âDid you say something?â
âŠno
(Maximin doesnât quite seem to believe that, but doesnât press further.)
(After a moment, thereâs a knock at the containment unit door.)
âThat must be Michaelâ
(Maximin nods as the door opens.)
(Thereâs something . . . odd about Michaelâs presence. Nothing specific or obvious enough about him to be pointed out, just that something in the air around them feels almost . . . heavier. Like the air itself is being dragged down in a way.)
(And then the moment passes. Perhaps it was just the imagination.)
(Michaelâs face turns towards Caesar. He doesnât say a word, just waits.)
âHello. Iâve been told you can travel dimensions. Is that correct?â
(He gives a simple nod.)
âThere are some things i need to retrieve from my homeâ
(Michaelâs voice is somewhat deep, not drastically so but enough to be worth mentioning. When he speaks, thereâs just the barest traces of a french accent, or perhaps italian? Something about the way he speaks almost seems to pull the listener in close, as though to gift them some forbidden fruit of knowledge.)
âAnd where would that be.â
Caesar doesnât know exactly how to explain.
(Michael waits for Caesar to speak.)
âI have no frame of reference for where i am compared to where i wasâ
âI did not ask for one.â
âTell me about the place you came from.â
âIt was this big sprawling estate thatâŠI own. Had a big mansion on it.â
Caesar seems to be repressing a memory
âDescribe it. Something you can picture clearly about it.â
â it had a nice hedge garden and the mansion had a special room where I display choice items from my antiques collection in glass boxes.â

(He waits for more.)
"it had purple and gold carpets and flags everywhere"
âI need more than that, darling.â
âI need emotion.â
âI need what makes this place noteworthy to you.â
âI-I-it-â
(You can hear the grin in Michaelâs voice.) âThere it is.â
Caesar appears to be dissociating
âNone of that, darling. Stay with me. You arenât there. Whatever memory youâve got, it is in the past.â
âDonât stay silent either. Donât keep it in.â
(Michaelâs âBless?â seems to be . . . maybe glowing? Something about it seems to have changed, or perhaps responded to something.)
