Then I will be with my pretty friends, but they’ll be talking about all the people that are head-over-heels for them and how they can decline them because they are pretty and lovable and everybody is head-over-heels.

And I’m stuck there. Alone. Ugly. Secluded.

They hardly invite me to things. Maybe once or twice a year I’ll get to make plans with a pretty friend.

A pretty friend even told me to my face that it’d be awkward if they’d invite me to things they do in a group. Why? Because I’m ugly? Because I’m not as skinny as they are? Because my personality isn’t as lovable? Because they don’t care?

So I sit and wait and wait for my pretty friends to invite me. To finally accept me and tell me I’m pretty.

Why?

Do I really think that’ll happen? Do I really believe I’ll have a fairy tale ending where I’m pretty and loved and adored and invited?

Maybe it’s better to be myself and to accept that my nose is big and my stomach isn’t flat and my thighs are huge.
