Sometimes, making the quilt back is more fun than making the top. I tend to get much more improvisational with quilt backs by using up scraps from the tops.

The Postcard Quilt Along (via A Quilter’s Table: )
(via Blue Elephant Stitches: A Country Quilt)

I had bins of scraps sorted by color and decided to make a bunch of improvisational blocks from those scraps. Many months later I made the black and white back to contrast the colorful quilt top.
