I like to think that Nightmare allowed his subordinates to call him 'whatever they want,' within reason, of course.
so Horror decides to stay simple and just call him by his name.
Killer would ofc call him boss, Dust calls him sir, sir Nightmare, etc, and Cross calls him some royal title (your highness, your majesty, etc.)

in case anybody was curious, i like to think that when Dream is genuinely happy or upset, it will be shown through his eyes.
when he's happy, white dots will appear in the center of his eye light. when he's upset, his eye lights will dull and sometimes black dots will appear.
my cuties!
I would love to draw in color, but I'm not good at it yet, so only this
what ships do you like?
not really the same thing, but I tend to imagine Dream with Spinel's song, Drift Away.
because like. they were both forced to stay in the same spot for an indeterminate amount of time which stretched on for hundreds/thousands of years.

Cross and Killer are at two completely different ends of a spectrum.
Killer is wild, uncontrollable, and volatile more often than not, and not even Nightmare can really control him. he's vulgar and isn't afraid to say exactly whats on his mind at any given point in time, which is the exact reason Cross just can't seem to understand him.
speaking of, Cross is supposedly well-mannered and heavily disciplined. he doesn't fit in with the usual characteristics that make a sans, coming from the universe he did. he's more or less the perfect employee under Nightmare (if you ignore his morals, at least).
all of which causes them to clash more often than not, but also hold a begrudging respect for one another based on their prowess on the battlefield.
"A little help." - Part 6
on its own, this comic makes little sense, and specifically Killer's motives are probably pretty wonky without the broader context. however, it is a really small portion of a larger story idea i have, so...
anyways, this is the final part, so thanks for being patient and sticking around until now.

if passive did come back as a ghost, do you think he would get along with XChara??
at least the the extent of "hey you're literally the only person who can actually see me in centuries that I don't hate for taking everything from me, so wanna be friends? :)"
I think passive would eventually grow to actually admire XChara for being strong in the face of adversity, as well. because he never could when it actually mattered, but despite mixed results, XChara at least tried to do something about his anguish.
do you think Dream ever feels guilty that Nightmare never got the attention he did??
and therefore he would end up a sacrificing whatever he can to make sure that Nightmare would have a better life in adulthood than he did as a child??
When you read crossover fics, do you only read it if you know both fandoms, or do you read it if you only know one of the fandoms??
i want to know all fandoms
i only know one fandom
I care not for knowing anything about any of the fandoms

can we talk a little bit about how Dream has never actually been able to be a person?
as far as I'm aware, it was never explicitly stated in canon when the villagers arrived and built their town around the tree of feelings, but we would have to assume it was pretty early on in the twins' life. that is, if it wasn't there to begin with. and when the villagers learned of the twins' powers, and Nightmare started getting bullied, Dream started being used by the villagers to do chores and overall be a busy body for a bunch of adults.
then the apple incident, and the subsequent 500-ish years he spent in stone. all of which probably left him with some heavy trauma that isn't really explored.
then, he's forced to fight what he maybe sorta kinda thinks might be his brother until he finds out that it isn't his brother and he has to come to terms with that. ALL WHILE he's an unpaid therapist for basically the entire multiverse as said not-brother is actively hunting him down to try to kill him.
anyways, in this Ted Talk I will-
what if Nightmare made his boys immortal without them knowing??
Nightmare is selfish, and he likes to keep what is his. that mindset would only extend to his gang, then, right? because they are his mortals, and his alone, and he would rather die than have anything of his no longer in his possession.
and eventually, they would have to find out, because nobody, not even boss monsters, live to be as old as they have without looking to have aged a day.
I feel like something I see a lot in fics is Nightmare doing paperwork . which is cool but I do wonder what it could possibly be about if not, like, Ccino's taxes or smth . and then I thought about Nightmare writing book essays instead and I really liked the idea because it just felt fitting in a way. he's a nerd
That is fun cuz I thought about it. The thing is. If Nightmare is in ownership (even illegal occupation) he Would need to do paperwork even if it's just to check whether his AUs are being properly monitored. By what assume would be In-Verse AU characters traitors (or outcode people he swaps around) that are to serve as like. Puppet monarchs just to keep the Negative status quo up.
So like. Imagine him having to check expensesβ hed want the habitants to have food but not enough. He would also want to have a number: there Would be "moon law" enforcement going on, aka people that keep the AUs as negative as possible, lead by the puppet leaders. He'd want to know how effective they are, whether there's active resistance, whether there's lethal force being used. He would also want to monitor the leaders themselves, cuz they May get too big headed and try to act as if Nightmare doesn't have them leashed. He'd also monitor Outcode apparitions, if they happen. I imagine he does not want his taken universes to interact with the wider multiverse, so he'd want a following on whether such thing happened.
Like. Nightmare Would have traditional colonies. All the paperwork is mostly monitoring because there Are stuff that his aura won't catch until it's too late.
He would also like to do espionage, wider multiverse wise. He Would employ people and have them catch onto the Big News of the multiverse (aka Universe Destruction, Outcode organization in-fighting, new alliances). He would Also need to read it and follow it. That is Also paperwork
I imagine Ccino is also like. A big info source since fluffytale is neutral grounds. Ccino manages his own taxes though
Anyways! Regardless of that, I do like the book essay idea....... I can see him doing it recreationally. He may also review books online. Like. He Writes reviews. He would do that

imagine Nightmare gradually breaking down Cross' morals over time.
whether you see Cross as one of the bad sanses or not, he's most definitely one of the most mentally and morally sound characters within the aforementioned group. and Nightmare is entirely aware of that fact.
so, he offers a position in his group for Cross, and promises that he won't have to do anything he's uncomfortable with, knowing full well how important promises are for the majority of sans variants. only, as time passes, Nightmare grows more and more comfortable easing Cross into doing tiny 'favors' for him that perhaps tap at Cross' morals. slowly, though, those favors turn to requests, then commands, and they only get worse as Nightmare gently assures him that he will only ask if he will be comfortable.
all the while, Cross' morality slowly crumbles without him even noticing.
I like to think that Killer despised Dust's existence in the beginning.
we've all mostly come to the conclusion that Killer was Nightmare's first mortal, the first one he took in and houses and 'healed'. then comes Dust, who was strong, maybe even stronger than Killer himself. and Killer was scared.
scared that Nightmare would replace him with someone new, and toss him out like garbage, or even kill him just to make sure no revenge plots would boil up. scared that Dust would inevitably become a better aspect to the growing group. scared that he would be left behind to rot away in Dust's shadow.
so, Killer was a big instigator for the first year or two that Dust was there, and they would bicker and fight like no tomorrow.
eventually, the hatred cooled, but I have yet to come up with an actual, decent reason for that.
