Etymology: Middle Borlish, reclassicised form of Old Borlish relic after the Latin reliquiae "remains, leftovers, survivors", from relinquō "I leave behind". The term has been used in mathematics since the fifteenth century, in geology since the seventeenth, and in product design since the late nineteenth.
