Speaking of life being a daring adventure or nothing etc etc...
I'm going to Mongolia for 3 weeks in September and I think for the first time ever in my travels, and I'm actually quite nervous about it? Like I'm going to fly out to the Altai Mountains with a local guide/translator I don't know (and I SHOULD trust her because my colleague recommended her and knows her well but also, she doesn't know this area of Mongolia either so we're kind of just... going on a trip to an unknown place together rather than me being GUIDED if that makes sense?). And beyond that, this itinerary isn't a real itinerary because so much of it cannot be planned in advance. I just know we're going to be staying with eagle hunters for a week. But then we're going to drive from the Altai mountains to Ulaanbatar for about 10-14 days. And because it's late September she says we'll just have to see how it goes because of snow and all of that. So basically, things feel very unplanned and wild and unpredictable and we're just going to bank on staying with random families as we move across the country. But that's the point of this trip I guess. I'm going to shoot three stories and two of them involve just going with the flow and pivoting based on what we find. But maaaan if I'm not feeling uneasy lol.
