It's so funny how life works...for those of you that know me, you know that I am a spiritual person. I believe that EVERYTHING happens for a reason and that God has led me in every direction I've taken in my life. Being at Waikele everyday for 3 months with the Mobile Boutique really, really took its toll on me, as well as put things in perspective. I know that people may think "what's the big deal? Or what do you expect? A business takes hard work." While that's all true, that's not the reason I started Uptown Closet. I started it for a few reasons that had nothing to do with money and mainly to have a 'fun' job. After Waikele, the Mobile Boutique just wasn't fun anymore... Another thing weighing heavily on me was the feeling of not utilizing my God given gifts - helping others. Yes, fashion can be used to help others and I did enjoy it very much, still do, but when you work as a counselor and teacher for almost 20 years and then just do a 'fun' job there's a sense that something's missing, at least there was for me. Needlessly to say, I prayed about this...and then BOOM! Something that wasn't planned at all on my part, literally started with a text I received and then the rest just fell into place. I always said there was only 1 school that would bring me out of my self imposed DOE 'retirement' and low and behold God said it was time. So if you've been thinking to yourself, "where the heck did Denise go?" I've been back to a structured grind! Lol! Hail to the Brown and Gold.😊 And no, I'm not closing down Uptown Closet. I will continue to do 'Pop-Ups' and House Parties and of course the Online Store is always open. You can shop anytime you want at www.uptowncloset.com.
