whenΒ bevΒ failedΒ toΒ runΒ intoΒ steveΒ atΒ theΒ summerΒ carnival,Β sheΒ feltΒ disappointedΒ andΒ a bit sadΒ butΒ sheΒ refusedΒ toΒ giveΒ upΒ hope.Β althoughΒ sheΒ wantedΒ toΒ runΒ intoΒ himΒ naturallyΒ andΒ strikeΒ upΒ aΒ conversationΒ βΒ maybeΒ testΒ theΒ watersΒ aΒ littleΒ bit,Β sheΒ wasΒ justΒ desperateΒ toΒ getΒ toΒ knowΒ herΒ bigΒ brother.Β muchΒ toΒ theirΒ dadβsΒ dismay.Β butΒ sheΒ didnβtΒ reallyΒ careΒ whatΒ heΒ thought.Β sheΒ didnβtΒ careΒ aboutΒ theΒ angerΒ sheβdΒ heardΒ inΒ hisΒ voiceΒ theΒ lastΒ timeΒ heΒ calledΒ orΒ theΒ factΒ thatΒ heΒ keptΒ demandingΒ thatΒ sheΒ stayΒ awayΒ fromΒ steve.Β sheΒ wasΒ goingΒ toΒ meetΒ herΒ brotherΒ andΒ tryΒ toΒ buildΒ aΒ friendshipΒ withΒ him.Β but ifΒ steveΒ toldΒ herΒ toΒ fuckΒ off,Β sheΒ would.Β sheΒ hopedΒ heΒ wouldnβtΒ doΒ that though.
sheΒ decidedΒ βΒ onΒ aΒ dayΒ whereΒ sheΒ feltΒ exceptionallyΒ lonelyΒ inΒ theΒ newΒ town she'd moved to on a whimΒ βΒ toΒ goΒ toΒ familyΒ video,Β whereΒ sheβdΒ overheardΒ aΒ groupΒ ofΒ youngΒ girlsΒ gushingΒ aboutΒ theΒ hotΒ guyΒ namedΒ βΒ steveΒ βΒ whoΒ workedΒ there.Β sheΒ couldΒ onlyΒ crossΒ herΒ fingersΒ andΒ prayΒ thatΒ itΒ wasΒ theΒ steveΒ she'dΒ beenΒ lookingΒ for.
sheΒ enteredΒ theΒ storeΒ withΒ herΒ fingers stillΒ crossedΒ behindΒ herΒ back.Β sheΒ slowlyΒ approachedΒ theΒ counterΒ andΒ offeredΒ aΒ smallΒ smile.Β sheΒ sawΒ theΒ nameΒ βΒ steveΒ βΒ onΒ theΒ guyβsΒ nametagΒ andΒ letΒ outΒ aΒ quietΒ breathΒ beforeΒ finallyΒ speaking.Β βΒ hi.Β um.Β areΒ youΒ steveΒ harrington,Β byΒ chanceΒ ?Β β
it should have been like any other work day for steve but the news of the bodies found after the carnival had steve on edge. it didn't help his nerves that he had a voicemail from his dad on the phone when he'd gotten home the night before. steve had only listened long enough to recognize the voice before deleting the message, not caring what robert harrington had to say to him.
steve's back was turned to the door when he had heard the bell ding. he turned at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, mentally preparing to put on his best customer service smile. steve nodded as he replied, "that's me.." suddenly his mind was racing trying to figure out why this person knew his name and if he was supposed to remember who this stranger was. "sorry.. i don't recognize you, have we met?"
location: chrissy's house tagging: @diingusharrington
The blonde had been rudely awoken by the sound of a ringing telephone. It wasn't unusual. Ever since starting at Hawkins General, she'd been called at all hours to cover a shift, all hands on deck. Grumbling, Chrissy made her way into her kitchen where the phone continued to ring. Still half asleep, she picked up the receiver.
To her surprise, it was Steve Harrington. Not her boss at the hospital demanding that she came in. He sounded panicked, something about his infant daughter. Chrissy had remained calm, dealing with frantic parents day in; day out, meant that she was almost immune to the panic that presented itself in their voices.
She'd told Steve to come over to her apartment. Chrissy was more than happy to look baby Daisy over, and, if it came to it - she was happy to accompany them both to the hospital. Frantic knocking at her door had Chrissy rushing over. Angry neighbors certainly wasn't going to help the situation at hand.
"Steve, hey." Chrissy greeted softly, opening the door just enough to allow him inside. "What seems to be the problem?"
steve didn't like bothering his friends, especially not this late at night, but he'd been up for hours with a sick baby and he didn't know what to do other than call chrissy. maybe he was just overreacting, but even if that were the case he'd find a way to make up for waking his friend in the middle of the night. when he arrived he hurriedly took his daughter from her carseat and nearly sprinted to chrissy's door, knocking louder than he had meant to.
he had been bouncing his fussing daughter, trying to quiet her down. turning when chrissy opened the door he gave her an apologetic smile. "sorry for calling so late.. i think she's running a fever.. or she was when i checked it at home, i'm not sure if it's changed since and she's been fussing all night.."
open location: the hideout
mike didn't expect anyone he knew to come in and see him. he didn't expect it tonight at least. he'd been trying to keep his mind off of the most recent attack at the carnival, that he hadn't attended because of work but he'd heard about it on the news. he was worried about his friends and family more than anything. he took a small breath in as he saw a familiar face walk into the hideout, "hey." he said simply, "what can i get for you?" it was a small place, so he didn't really have to talk too loudly.
ruth wasn't sure what to think about everything going on in town, especially not so soon after moving back. a double homicide wasn't the best way to welcome her back into hawkins, but what did she know.. walking into the hideout she smiled, seeing a familiar face, someone she hadn't spoken to in years, "mike, hey!" the girl smiled, "uh, i'll just probably just grab a stool at the bar but how have you been?" their sisters had been best friends, which often meant she was somewhat forced to spend time with mike and his friends when they were younger. she hadn't seen him since.. her sister's funeral she supposed. "it's been forever."

maxΒ almostΒ didnβtΒ showΒ up,Β butΒ sheΒ figuredΒ herΒ friendsΒ wouldΒ giveΒ herΒ so much shitΒ ifΒ sheΒ didnβt.Β itΒ wasΒ just hotterΒ thanΒ satanβsΒ ballsackΒ outsideΒ andΒ sheΒ hatedΒ allΒ theΒ ridesΒ andΒ theΒ gamesΒ wereΒ absolutelyΒ juvenile.Β butΒ sheΒ figuredΒ sheΒ couldΒ atΒ leastΒ eatΒ tooΒ muchΒ cottonΒ candyΒ andΒ maybeΒ findΒ aΒ boothΒ sellingΒ alcoholΒ somewhere.
lettingΒ outΒ aΒ deepΒ groan,Β sheΒ shovedΒ aΒ hugeΒ biteΒ ofΒ cottonΒ candyΒ intoΒ herΒ mouthΒ asΒ sheΒ glanced aroundΒ βΒ hopingΒ toΒ findΒ oneΒ ofΒ herΒ friendsΒ orΒ atΒ leastΒ someoneΒ whoΒ lookedΒ vaguelyΒ familiarΒ nearby.Β sheΒ turnedΒ inΒ aΒ circle,Β again,Β andΒ that was when she slammedΒ intoΒ someoneΒ βΒ herΒ cottonΒ candyΒ hitΒ theΒ ground,Β andΒ sheΒ frownedΒ downΒ atΒ it.Β βΒ well, shitΒ !Β βΒ sheΒ flippedΒ theΒ personΒ sheΒ bumpedΒ intoΒ theΒ birdΒ withoutΒ lookingΒ up.Β βΒ youβreΒ buyingΒ meΒ moreΒ cottonΒ candy,Β youΒ knowΒ ?Β and don't expect a thank you. β
despite having been in hawkins for nearly two weeks vada had yet to make any friends with anyone besides her elderly neighbors who had once been friends with her great-grandmother. it was way more awkward than the girl thought it would be at the carnival, everywhere she looked was families or groups of friends. she had been contemplating retreating back to her house when she walked right into someone. it was just her luck at this point. "shit, i'm so sorry!" vada apologized. "i'll totally get you another, it's no problem."
location: hawkins carnival
at the roller coaster
a small breath in as imelda looked up at the roller coaster. the thing was the bane of her existence. looking around, she looked at the first person that came into view, "i am so sorry to bug you but would you possibly go on this with me?" she asked softly, "i know it's not really cool to do things alone. so i'm trying to find someone to go on this with." she said, smiling at the other, "you can totally say no."
ruth had been a teenager the last time she'd attended the hawkins carnival. it was almost weird to not be saddened by the memories of both her late father and sister rushing at her as she walked around the familiar setting. standing in line for the roller coaster ruth smiled at the girl, "oh, sure! i'm kind of a baby about roller coasters anyway so it'll be nice to get on with someone."

Vickie made her way to the video store, hoping to find a new movie for her to watch tonight. It was a long day at work, so she was looking forward to get to her apartment, have dinner on her couch while watching a movie. Although, she wasn't really sure what she was in the mood for. As she walked into the video store, she was greeted by Steve. Vickie offered him a smile before approaching the counter. "Hey there. Thank you, she's a cutie." She paused. "Do you have anything new in? I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for to watch tonight."
steve gave vickie a friendly smile as he rocked daisy's carseat slowly. "she is pretty cute, isn't she?" steve thought most babies looked like old men before becoming a father. maybe it was some sort of baby blinders put on him, but he really thought daisy was the cutest baby he'd ever seen. "we just got a few copies of the new friday the thirteenth in. i've heard good things about moonstruck and three men and a baby too though if your not feeling horror."

βΒ okay,Β andΒ ?Β βΒ sheΒ turnedΒ awayΒ fromΒ steveΒ toΒ tryΒ andΒ hideΒ theΒ smileΒ thatΒ sheΒ couldnβtΒ stopΒ fromΒ forming.Β βΒ cleanΒ itΒ againΒ whenΒ iβmΒ gone.Β loser.Β βΒ withΒ aΒ rollΒ ofΒ herΒ eyes,Β sheΒ heldΒ herΒ armsΒ outΒ andΒ impatientlyΒ waitedΒ forΒ theΒ babyΒ toΒ beΒ givenΒ toΒ her.Β βΒ cβmon,Β steve,Β youΒ seeΒ herΒ everyΒ singleΒ day.Β stopΒ hoggingΒ herΒ !Β βΒ whenΒ theΒ babyΒ wasΒ finally secureΒ inΒ herΒ arms,Β sheΒ raisedΒ oneΒ ofΒ daisyβsΒ littleΒ handsΒ andΒ wavedΒ itΒ towardΒ steve.Β βΒ yourΒ dadΒ isΒ suchΒ aΒ painΒ inΒ myΒ ass,Β kid.Β iΒ dunnoΒ howΒ youΒ putΒ upΒ withΒ him.Β β
steve rolled his eyes at her comment about him hogging the baby. "you see her almost as much as i do, cool it with the complaints." it was weird at first seeing his friends interact with daisy when she was first born. it was still weird to steve that he had a kid, most days he didn't feel old enough to be a parent. something about it all felt right though, as if daisy were some missing puzzle piece that steve hadn't known he was looking for. "don't listen to auntie max, daisy girl. she's just a meanie," he said giving the baby a tickle before sticking his tongue out at max. "you really need to be nicer to me, your baby privileges can be revoked you know.." he teased.
Do you still- still love me?
