my partner and i just moved across the usa because we were unable to afford rising costs in our previous city. this is the second time we’ve moved across the country since 2021, hoping to live somewhere with a more affordable cost of living and lead an easier life.

we’ve been in our new city for about a week and a half. this morning was supposed to be my second day of work, attempting to rebuild our exhausted savings and make ends meet.

we stepped outside this morning to find that my partner’s car had been stolen.

my partner doesn’t have a job yet and is furiously searching and awaiting a call back from a potential employer today. in the meantime, i am responsible for both of our rent and bills as well as any unexpected costs that will arise from her car, even if it’s able to be recovered.
