"That is helpful. I just went from Minnesota to here so it took some getting used to." Bobby told her. "I wish I had some tips, but I think I still need some myself." He laughed. "That is a good point. But there have been times when one or two of my team are here when I get here." Bobby smiled as she shook his hand and then watched as she grabbed some of the baked goods too. "When it comes to my team, none of us have any allergies. And as for what they like...they wouldn't be fussed at all. They will be happy for stuff like this." He told her.
“Yeah, that would definitely take some getting used to,” Sofia replied with a smile and a nod of her head, “Do you ever miss it? Chilly temperatures, snowy winters? Or have you gone full LA native already, and can’t even handle the thought of the cold now? And I’ll make you a deal, if I hear of any good traffic tips, I’ll share them with you if you promise to do the same.” He then acknowledged she made a good point about how she was able to deduce that he was the captain, before adding that sometimes one or two of his team members arrived when he did. “But you’re consistently the first one here. That’s a captain move.” After that, they were gathering up the baked goods, and he told her that no one had any allergies - good to know for the future - and that they weren’t picky. That they would be happy to have what she brought, and her smile grew, “Then I’ve done my job.”
"Honestly, I don't know." Bobby told her. "I have been living here for 9 years. I think I am used to being able to walk around in short sleeves and sunglasses." He laughed. "Plus I haven't been back to Minnesota since I left so who knows if I would be able to handle the cold now." He added. When she mention about the traffic, he nodded. "I promise to do the same." Listening, he smiled. "I guess it does." He said. Bobby looked at the some of the baked goods he was picking up. "You certainly have. At least I can trust you with what is in these. Unlike some that have come here before."
“Well then that makes two of us then hm?” She jokes softly, and eats a little more as her nervous system settles. “At least for tonight it should. I have half a mind to sleep over just to make sure you stick around.”
"Mmm, it seems like it is." Bobby replied. He took another bite of his food. Hearing what she said, he nodded. He would like that. But it was also the way she worded it. It shook him. How things could have been so different.
Relief washed over Athena the instant his eyes opened. "Hey," she breathed, her shoulders relaxing just enough for the tension to ease from them. "There you are."
Her hand remained against his cheek for another moment before she gently brushed her thumb beneath his nose, confirming what she'd seen. When she pulled it away, the faint smear of blood on her thumb only reinforced that she'd been right to hit the call button.
"You had a nosebleed," she said softly, careful not to alarm him. "It isn't much, but it was enough that I didn't want to take any chances." She offered him a small, reassuring smile despite the concern still lingering in her eyes.
"You've been asleep for hours. I tried waking you, but you were completely out." Leaning in just a little closer, she searched his face. "How are you feeling? Dizzy? Nauseous? Any pain?"
Just then, she glanced toward the doorway, listening for the approaching footsteps she'd expected after pressing the call button before looking back at him.
"The nurse should be here any second," she added gently. "I just wanted to make sure you were awake."
Bobby looked up at her, confused at the way that Athena was looking down at him. He could see that her shoulders were relaxing, even if he had only just woken up and was half asleep.
He felt her do this and then heard what she said. Bobby then looked at her thumb before looking back at her. "That is understandable." He said. Understanding why she would have been worried. "Although, we don't know how long they will keep happening. Are you going to wake me up every time it happens if I am asleep?" He asked, with an sleep, but amused look on his face.
"No. I am neither of those. Just sleepy." Bobby told his wife. He looked towards the door before looking back at her. A nurse then came in and Bobby looked back towards the door again.
“I’m fine, Bobby. Cross my heart. But thank you for thinking about me.” She says. “But right now it’s all about you okay?”
"That is who I am." Bobby said. "Thinking about others and how they are." He told her. Bobby looked at Jamie. "It shouldn't be all about me."

Several hours passed before Athena began to stir. Blinking the sleep from her eyes, she instinctively looked over at Bobby, relieved to find him still sleeping peacefully. The relief lasted only a moment.
Her brow furrowed. There was a thin trail of blood beneath his nose. Athena immediately leaned forward, gently cupping the side of his face with one hand as she reached for the call button with the other.
"Bobby..." she murmured softly, not wanting to startle him awake but hoping to rouse him enough to see if he was responsive. "Hey... talk to me."
Bobby hadn't even felt her hand on the side of his face. Usually he was a light sleeper only because he was so used to getting up at the sound of an alarm going off at the firehouse when he worked nights. He was in such a deep sleep now. Or at least he was until he heard her voice calling his name.
It took a moment for him to realize but he slowly opened his eyes. "Thena?" He said, looking up at her as she noticed her looking at him. He looked confused because he had only just woken up.
Athena watched him for a moment, relieved to see him finally getting the rest he needed. Only after the steady rise and fall of his chest told her he was truly asleep did she lean back in her chair, allowing some of the tension to leave her shoulders.
She remained close, carefully slipping her hand into his, mindful not to wake him. Closing her own eyes, she realized just how exhausted she was. It wasn't long before sleep claimed her as well.
It didn't take him long to fall asleep as soon as he closed his eyes. He was exhausted after everything that had happened. He had been surprised that he hadn't fallen asleep when he was eating or talking.
A few hours later, he was still fast asleep. What he hadn't realized that his nose was bleeding again. Like the doctor said could happen for a little while as things healed. It didn't even wake him up.
Thinya nodded at Bobby's words as he explained that he was the one who started that ritual. It made her smile and she nodded before then taking a muffin to put it on her plate. The whole team was pleasant, laughing together and including her. It felt heartwarming actually, the first time she ever experienced this.
As she was ready for the tour, Thinya nodded. "Alright, then I am ready, Cap." She said, eager now to visit the firehouse and to see what the others are up to. She could see Eddie and Buck washing the trucks and it made her smile as both seemed to have a lot of fun.
It felt quite odd for her to start in an already established team. There were already bonds, she could see that. A part of her hope that she would eventually bond with all of them and be part of this beautiful family.
Bobby was glad he had started the eating together thing here. Some places didn't do that and he felt the team got on so much better here because of how they did things here. Maybe other places were the same without doing that because he hadn't noticed it anywhere else.
He noticed her looking over towards where the others were. It was going to be great having some new here. And he was sure she would fit in perfectly.
"Lets go then." He said. Bobby started walking alongside her. He took her for the tour. Making sure that he showed her everywhere that she needed to know about. Once he had done this, he looked over at her. "If you want to take your things to the locker room and get settled in." He said. "Oh, and please could I have your paper work so I can take it to my office?"
"Well, lucky for you, I don't plan on giving you any reason to test that theory." Her eyes searched his face, noticing the exhaustion beginning to settle in. "You're tired."
She leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Get some sleep, sweetheart. I'll be right here when you wake up." A small smile tugged at her lips. "And tomorrow, we'll get you home where you belong."
Bobby smiled. "I am glad that you don't plan on giving me a reason to test that." He said. When she said about him being tired, he didn't even try and hide it. She did know him well, and he knew that.
When she kissed his forehead, he closed his eyes for a moment. He looked up at her when she pulled back. "You get some sleep too." He said. "Good. Because I want to be at home." Bobby told her. It didn't take him long to fall asleep.
Athena nodded, a small frown crossing her face. She knew. And he was right. They had already worked through it. But that didn't mean she wouldn't always regret it.
"I know. And going forward, I'm going to try to do better." It was a promise. Not a promise of perfection. But a promise to make a conscious effort to be aware of him and his feelings.
" Thank you for never giving up on me."
"I am going to do the same." Bobby told her. He wanted to better for her. And he didn't want to make it seem that he didn't take her feelings into account at anytime.
"Oh, I could never give up on you." Bobby said. "You would have to do something really unforgivable for that to happen. And even then, it might be hard for me to do that." He told her.
Bobby was starting to feel tired. And he was hoping the sooner the next day came around, the sooner he could go home to their house. He didn't want to be stuck here.

“Affecting…me? Bobby,” she shakes her head. “Of course I’m going to worry about you. I almost lost a friend tonight. And I never would’ve forgiven myself if I hadn’t found you.” She says. “I’m okay. It’s okay. You’re here and hopefully stable and that’s all I need.”
"I know you are worrying about me. But how it affected you." Bobby told her. Until now, he hadn't even thought about that. When she said about him being here, he nodded and looked down at the sandwich in his hand before taking another bite of it.
"It will always be different, because it's you." That was just how it was when you loved someone. She sighed softly. She realized that they were both making promises about things that they couldn't control.
"Yet, we really have no control do we? I guess all we can do is cherish every moment that we have." A smile tugged at her lips. "I promise that I am never going to take you for granted. If I ever push too hard...or I say something that hurts you, I need you to tell me. I don't ever want you carrying that burden by yourself."
He did realized what they were doing. How they knew that you shouldn't really promise things you couldn't control, yet here they were, doing just that, saying they wouldn't leave the other behind. And this being while he was in hospital after she almost lot him at a call.
"We don't. And I already do cherish every moment." Bobby said. He had already lost everything once. He knew better than to not cherish what he had now. Bobby looked at her. "I will. There was only the once actually twice that you said something that hurt me but we already worked through that."
“What are you thinking about?” She asks, noticing something off in his behaviour, her observation skills are heightened after everything that had occurred only 10 feet away in the bathroom.
Bobby heard her asking him this. "I am thinking about how this is affecting you." Bobby told her. "If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be...worried about me."
She smiles a bit, and then slowly starts to nibble on something after he’s into his sandwich. She relaxes into the couch, and continues nibbling. “Sandwich good, Bobby?” She asks.
Bobby noticed her smile over him and then take a sandwich and start eating it. He looked at her and nodded. "It is." He said. Bobby looked away. He had done this to her.
Jamie sets the food around the coffee table. It’s just a mix and match of pies, half sandwiches, and anything else that may be considered a comfort. She sits down again on the couch. “Help yourself.” She motions, wanting him to eat what he wants first. She’s a little overwhelmed still to eat herself.
Bobby looked at the choice of food. He didn't even know what to start. He picked up a sandwich. Looking over ay Jamie, he could tell how she was feeling. And he knew it was down to him.

Thinya heard Bobby tell her where to sit and saw Eddie pulling a chair next to him. "Come here, there's a free spot for you." Thinya smiled and looked back at Bobby when he asked her what she meant. "I meant this. Breakfast all together, sharing meals.. I've never seen that before. So I wanted to ask you if it was like this every day or simply on rare occasions. Say welcoming the new hire." She chuckled lightly before walking to the empty seat.
The breakfast was incredible and Thinya observed everybody. It seemed to be an incredible team and a part of her was already hoping they would all adopt her soon. Hen stood up and cleared her plate, as well as Chimney. Both decided to start the shift by doing the inventory in the paramedic truc and ensure all the material was there.
Eddie and Buck walked to the training room and Thinya cleared her own plate before looking at Bobby. "So, I am ready for the tour and to hear about everything I should know." Her smile grew as she was a bit more relaxed. The fear of not being good enough for the team was slowly fading away. "So.. Is it okay when I call you just Cap? Or would you rather that I still call you Captain Nash?"
Bobby noticed Eddie pull out a chair for her and then smiled. He could see that they were getting along with her. "Oh, this is a thing that happens all the time." Bobby told her. "From what I know, it wasn't like this before I started here." He said. "All you have to do is ask these lot." He laughed.
When the others started to get up, Bobby went to take the his plate over to clean it. He did knew that everyone was going to start getting on with work.
Bobby cleaned his plate and then looked at Thinya as she came over. "We can get that done now. I can give you the tour while I tell you what you need to know." Bobby told her. "As for what to call me, Cap is fine. That is what the others usually call me."
Thinya smiled at Bobby as he introduced Thinya. The team seemed so friendly, even Hen was laughing and saying: "Finally another woman in the team. It's so lovely to meet you, Thinya." The woman shook hands and Thinya smiled at her. "Likewise, Hen. It's an honour to join you all." She looked back at Bobby with a sweet smile.
"Sorry, traffic got me stuck but I'm here!"
Thinya turned her head to look at Eddie Diaz appearing. She remained slightly quiet, detailed the man as he approached the rest of the team. Chimney smiled and said: "Eddie! Meet Thinya. Cap's newest hire." Thinya shook hands with him and smiled, her cheeks slightly pinker. "It's lovely to meet you, before you all joined I was telling Captain Nash that I loved baking."
Chimney looked at Bobby. "Captain Nash? That's so formal." He then looked at Thinya. "Well just know that we will love you forever as long as you bring food." Thinya smiled and looked at the whole team taking their spots around the table. As she looked at Bobby, Thinya hesitated slightly, not really knowing which would be her spot. "Is it like this every day?"
Bobby was glad that they were being friendly to her like they were. He wouldn't expect anything different from them. He would have been so disappointed in them if they hadn't been friendly at all. And he knew that some people could be like that. Just not anyone from this team.
He looked over when Eddie arrived. Bobby was about to introducing him to Thinya, but Chim ended up beating him to it. He watched them interact. Hearing the mention about the baking, he smiled. "She did. And I told her how you all would be after the treats if she brings some in."
When Chim looked at him, he laughed. "That is what everyone calls me on their first day." Bobby told him. He looked at Thinya. "But he is right that is quite formal. They usually just call me Cap." He told her. Bobby noticed her looking at the table. "You can sit anywhere you want, except the head of the table." He told her. "How do you mean?" Bobby asked when she asked of it was like this every day.
