Brows furrow slightly at that remark. Kim clearly doesn’t like where this conversation’s going because a) it’s too intimate; b) he hasn’t had the time to even settle down in what exactly was going on between him and areum; c) he really didn’t want to do b and d) who the fuck was Jaewoo to say shit? A simple message should suffice. And also take him away from the spotlight. “And where’s your girl?”

Girlfriend, huh? The term makes him waddle on his seat. Sure, they were sleeping together, she’s been consistently present in his life but still… Kim didn’t feel quite… ready yet. Committing was uncomfortable, even though he was faithful to whatever it was they had going on, certain that in her mind it was that exactly though she didn’t force him to label it… that much he remembers her saying. About feelings. About caring. Truth is she hit him like a hurricane and now he was lost and confused in the eye of it. “Step up my game? What is that supposed to mean?”

jaewoo had no idea what their situation was, only assuming based on the fact that she visits the station and he’s caught them making out in the hallway on more than one occasion. he doesn’t even know areum that well outside of their usual polite greetings to each other when she came to see yeoreum. but by the younger’s reactions to what he was saying, it’s clear this was a sensitive topic. “ oh, i don’t know- maybe actually knowing where she works is a start. ” hands are now behind his head as he leans back in his seat. “ romance her a little, girls love that shit. ”

“Some shop, I think.” Though he’s wondering if that information was quite right. Areum may have mentioned it before, but he’s never been there even when she was always dropping by the station every now and then. Should he know? Should he go? Should he ask? Was she waiting on it? His facade lets it show he’s overthinking, legs begin to rock faintly. It felt odd starting over, taking that responsibility… never before had he considered something so… ordinary like this to be important. 

Yeoreum was leaning over the desk, napping over the reports he wasn’t the slightest interest in filling. Nights have been longer than his days lately. Longer, but better - much better. Still, a man needs his sleep and he would use any opportunity he could grasp. If… he could grasp it. Jaewoo, as always, gets chatty when bored, poking him out slumber. “Dick.” He mutters sleeply, groaning as he pulls away to sit up lazily. The mention of “his girl” makes a smile tug on his lips against his will anyway. I wish. “She probably works more than we do in this place.” Probably not, considering the hectic days were a nightmare but Jaewoo would get what he meant.

jaewoo’s grin only widens when he hears what yeoreum mutters, chuckling under his breath and then raising a hand to pat him firmly on the back. it was always fun teasing yeoreum, and he saw him as a younger brother he never had. none of the other recruits bonded as well as they did either. it was nice to have someone in the station he could chat with- even at the expense of the younger since he was always napping if his girl wasn’t around. “ yeah? where does she work that keeps her so busy? ”

it’s one of those days- quiet and relaxed in the station. hardly any calls came in and if there was, it was a simple one-man job so there were still quite a few of them milling about until it was time to lock up. jaewoo scrolls through his phone before letting out a groan and leaning back in his chair, exaggerating his motions and ‘accidentally’ nudging yeoreum with his arm. “ oops~ my bad. ” a teasing grin on his lips, eyes squinting to show his jovial attitude. “ quiet, huh? your girl not visiting today? ”
