[Untitled] Ever After

“Stories never do truly end...” 

A young heir from one of the many kingdoms that dot the continent of Esterion runs away after witnessing their corrupt uncle orchestrate the death of their parents, thus allowing himself to seize control of the throne. 

But it wasn't until five long years, a prophesied quest, magical power-ups, and a found family of questionable misfits later, where that said heir then returns home in order to save their people from his iron-fisted rule. 

This is a story that has already happened, and a story that’s incredibly, and embarrassingly, cliché. Not to mention being riddled with plot holes and bad grammar. You still enjoyed it regardless, even if it only ever existed within the pages of your old notebook from middle-school. 

…Or at least, that's how you expected it to stay.

‘[Untitled] Ever After’ is an isekai-fantasy IF made on Twine where you'll play as a young adult that somehow, either by luck or divine intervention, finds yourself standing in the vast world of the story you’ve once written...More than a decade after its initial ending, apparently.

The lines of creation begin to blur, revealing a setting that is more dynamic and alive, and evolving far beyond the limits once set by your imagination. 

Which then begs the question on what came first; The world that clearly moved on without it’s creator, or the creator that left their world behind?

Meanwhile, in a dying land across an endless sea far, far away, there it patiently lies.

It has a hunger that grows, lurking amongst the carcasses of what once was and what never will be.

It killed the old gods…All except for the First.

It will not keep them waiting.

Glad you’re enjoying their character so far, I’m also pretty excited to flesh them out even more once I get the ball rolling for this IF!

Some ‘fun facts’ about The Spymaster (Aero/Aera), let me see...

- Fiercely loyal to K (The Paragon) ever since they started working for the kingdom. Even though there’s this professional distance that has to be kept when around other people, the two consider each other as close confidants.  

- They surprisingly have a teasing and playful personality despite the secretive, and sometimes ruthless, line of work they’re in. Don't mistake it for weakness, however, like the ones who thought they could take advantage of them in order to get to K....Those people were never heard from again.

- Aero/Aera is also the only person in the entire kingdom who can attempt to prank K, and get away with their lives intact.  

- A bit on the cliche side, but they do rely on using birds to send and recieve messages as a Spymaster. Not the typical crows or ravens as one might expect, but rather a trained species similar to mynas of our world. (Giving bonus points if anyone can guess which fictional character I'm taking inspo from with this lol)

- Has a major sweet tooth, and is rumored to accept a bag of pastries in place of money if you need a favour from them. Offer only available to those they are close to, of course.

Hmm, that’s a good question...I’ll say that when you start the game and when arriving in the fantasy world, MC is still just a normal person like the rest of us.

Whether that changes as the story goes on remains to be seen.

Now as for your question...hmm, I'd say that the inspiration came from a mix of old childhood writings and being an isekai fan?

Like, when I was 13 or so, I had a few drafts written for a couple fantasy stories. One was about a character that got transported to another world, and the other was about...something I don't remember anymore, but it did have the og versions of The Paragon and The Spymaster.

So of course, I recently looked back at those two and decided: "Why not combine them and make it an IF?"

Not very climactic I know haha, but yeah that's basically what what happened! The rest is what you see now.

So I'm planning on making a map sometime in the future, but there should be around 4 main continents.

There's Esterion (Where MC’s story originally took place), Seyura (Where The Runaway came from), and two others that I haven't named yet that will have more details be revealed in-game.

As of right now I'm leaning on towards having the snail's foods to be things that can help keep it's flame alight like dried leaves and cooking oil. (They're basically decomposers in nature)

So okay, while you can't bring them back to the same person they were before, you can turn them into a less intense(?) version of who they are now.

I love how the snail is getting more (if not all) asks about them compared to literally the ROs themselves lmaooo. You go you funky little snail~

Anyways, a surprise but, I actually found an old design sketch for the fantasy snail species that I conceptualized a couple years ago! (The idea lived rent-free in my head even longer)

I called the species 'Wicker Snails'!

And what you see here is the base of what our pet snail would look like! There will be some minor tweaks for them in the final though, because our companion is a bit more unique compared to the ones found in the wild.

Ngl, I had no idea who you were talking about for the sec until I realized that you probably meant our dear protagonist of the original story agsfkdgslf

But yeah, we'll be learning later on in the game on what exactly turned them from being a sunshine little bean to who they became when MC meets them 😔

All the other characters have nothing compared to our little snail friend.
