Isabella Gaseg | Stable Girl | Morena Baccarin | Taken
âWhen I hear somebody talk about a horse being stupid; I figure itâs a sure sign that the animal has somehow outfoxed them.â
Biography:
Isabella has been raised by a widowed horse trader, which means they used to travel a lot when she was young. It also meant she developed a deep love for those beautiful creatures and decided to devote her life to them. Her mother died when she was just a little girl and, in a way, spending time with horses was a good way to deal with grief for her and her father both.
When Arthur came to the throne, her father offered him his services as a stableman and was accepted. Isabella then got access to the most beautiful horses in the kingdom and became her fatherâs assistant. She taught many young stable boys how to groom a horse properly, how to act around them, even how to ride. She knows how to take care of the riding equipment and which lord or lady deserves the finest saddle.
Isabella spends most of her time in the stables, taking care of Camelotâs finest horses and telling her stories about far away lands to whoever is willing to listen. She is acquainted with the knights and doesnât care much about etiquette, although she has manners, of course. But she is well aware of the fact that she only has her job because of her father being the stablemaster. Despite her experience and knowledge, she is worried what might happen to her when her father passes away; she would hate to be sent to kitchens as a maid. Her heart belongs to horses. And so she tries to prove herself every day, she needs people to see she is good at her job and seeing her leave would be a great loss for the royal stables.
Further development:Â Her devotion to the horses is such that she nearly lost her life trying to save them from the fire set by the Saxon invaders, and it is in them that she finds solace from her turbulent romantic life. Having been seduced by Hellawes and then cruelly cast aside by the same, she has become even more of a frantically hard worker in her confusion and loneliness. Afraid of having to confront unfamiliar and unnatural feelings, she tries to bury herself in her work and prove herself the best stable hand rather than allow herself to be distracted and risk losing all she has achieved. Still, she cannot ignore the attraction she feels, and is curious about the secrets Hellawes had begun to reveal to her.
