Unscruffed
Welcome to my den.
I am a writer and an artist, and I love to invoke in readers those same feelings that live in me. So, enjoy my artistic intro and learn about my mind.
Read more below to learn about the creatures that post with clumsy paws to this blog, or skip to the end for a classic summary if you don't like reading flavour text (although you may not enjoy my blog if you don't like stories!)
Come, rest your tired heart, traveller.
You sniff.
Two creatures live here. Your eyes fall upon a tall, lanky she-wolf with wise, pale eyes. Her coat is a fading silver, turning white as she ages. Her furrowed brows and wrinkled muzzle seem to affix a permanent scorn to her face, but her eyes hold a certain softness to them. Her name rings in your mind. Myla.
A cautious, hunched-over canine seems tucked away behind her, a bitch as far as you can tell. Her hazel eyes dart away from yours as you look at her. She's a shepherd of some sort--possibly German heritage. Her long sable coat masks her trembling. Despite her wariness of you, stranger, you can sense she is kind. She seeks comfort behind Myla's thick white coat. She woofs softly, and the sound echoes around the cave.
Your nose picks up the faint scent of cougar lingering here, but you can't identify where it's coming from. Perhaps it'll find a home here, too, but for now it seems uncertain.
You look around.
There's clawmarks on the walls, but they don't seem random. They're organised, sprawled into patterns and seem to have a language to them.
The shepherd observes you admiring them and her tail thumps on the floor. She's proud of her work. She looks down and it's the first time you recognise a collar around her neck. It's a deep maroon leather with a bone shaped pale gold tag, and a large plaque that reads "DO NOT PET". Her tag jingles in the gentle breeze wafting into the den. In the dim light you make out the name "ARTEMIS". You wonder if she's a pet. She didn't seem like one.
A number of human trinkets lay chewed up around the den, sentimental items collected by the two canines.
You recognise a boot affixed to a uniquely curved blade, laces chewed beyond repair. They seem worn, but not in a long time.
A wooden instrument, barely used. A beautiful acoustic thrill echoes as the shepherd's tail brushes against the strings.
A dim light from a scratched up screen creates a warm fuzzy haze. It's been battered and abused, and seems treasured by the two creatures. Humans would have played games on this.
A tattered old movie projector seems broken in the corner. Reels and reels of film lay scrambled in a mess at the back. It's quite a collection, and probably quite valuable to humans. For these canines, it seemed to line their beds, providing comfort on cold nights.
The tangled mess of film was mixed in with multicoloured spools of thread, creating soft bedding for them both. They had woven these beds themselves skilfully with their teeth. You wonder what else they could make if they had opposable thumbs.
Empty bottles which could have contained expensive fermented liquids fracture the light as it beams into the den, splitting off into a wave of colour and lighting up the cave. Artemis howls in excitement, hopping from one paw to another as though dancing beneath the lights. You could imagine other creatures here, enjoying their company, perhaps sharing a meal.
As the light fades they lead you out of the den and into the woods. As you pass, you notice a spattering of mixed prints in the mud. Animals of all species, most human. You identify another set of canine prints which frequent the den. A mate, perhaps.
Mixed prints sit close, but seldom enter the den. Friends, family, a pack. You can identify at least one wolf, a cat, and an avian of sorts. A pack, made up of several creatures. Their prints are intertwined in the mud, like a family.
The she-wolf maintains some distance, curiously looking on, but the shepherd wags her tail as you approach. A new friend, perhaps.

Hello! I am Gray, and I'm an adult furry and polytherian. I'm a regular at UK and European furry conventions and staff for two European cons. I've been a therian since I was a child and have always known on some level I'm not like the humans around me.
I've come to know many therians in my time, both locally and across the globe, and am glad to call many of them my packmates. I love throwing parties!
I'm happily mated to a handsome red husky-wolfdog therian who has been my rock for the last few years.
I'm disabled physically and suffer with Ehlers Danlos, which affects me every day. I like to explore and vent my frustrations through my writing, and I talk about what it's like to be a disabled therian, since it limits what I can do.
I am neurodivergent, as many of us are, and am diagnosed with ADHD and autism, but I do not feel these conditions define me. They are simply descriptors for how my brain works.
I love philosophy, poetry and art of all forms. I like ice skating and guitar when my body allows, but much of the time I'm limited and stick to video games and movies. I love horror and thriller genres, and I'd love to work on a film someday. I studied video game art, and like 3D modelling, but I rarely have time.
I sometimes make fursuits and furry art, or draw my experiences as a therian.
I'm also involved in the kink community and love to explore that too. My adult blog can be found at @runaroundhound
This blog, however, is mostly SFW. I intend to keep it that way so people of all ages can enjoy my content.
That being said, I do have a couple rules for those under 18.
For Minors & Age Regressed Identities:
Minors can follow, send asks or messages, but I am not interested in making friends with anyone under 18. I am not comfortable with that dynamic, so interactions with minors I'd prefer to keep limited to discussions about therianthropy/experiences/advice. I am not interested in personal friendships. Minors should definitely not interact with my NSFW blog.
For Adults:
If you do want to make a very personal or NSFW ask, please use my alternate blog @runaroundhound
As long as you're respectful, my door is pretty much open! Ask away, follow, comment. I don't really mind. However, if you are not comfortable with NSFW content or gore/body horror, I advise you to stick to this blog and avoid my AD.
That's all for now. πΊ πΆ
