I’m so out of the loop so don’t hate me but what is marmon and marmongate?? 😅😅
How could I ever hate you? This is my favorite topic and I was already planning to write about it, so thank you! Bear with me:
To give a quick summary and some context:
Marathon Monday stands out as one of Boston’s most recognizable traditions.
"MarMon" (or Marathon Monday) is the affectionate term used by college students and Boston locals to refer to the Monday when the famous Boston Marathon takes place, celebrated annually on Patriots' Day (the third Monday of April).
Among college students, Marathon Monday often carries a reputation as a drinking holiday. Many parties and gatherings take place along the route throughout the day.
Schools, including Boston University, Boston College and Northeastern University, suspend classes for Patriots’ Day, prompting college students to flood the streets to cheer on the marathoners and party during the day.
Day parties, colloquially referred to as “darties,” are a MarMon staple, with some beginning as early as 8 a.m.
Another enduring BC MarMon tradition is the outfit culture, with students often donning funny, vibrant and outgoing outfits or costumes for the day.
It’s one of the most fun days of the year.
With that being said, this year's MarMon took place on April 20th and out of nowhere, who was there?
Not only Boston's prince Mr. Will Smith, but also Macklin Celebrini!
And one of the first clips we got from that moment was the famous keg stand video
After that, other clips and pics started popping up (i can only add one vid but i have a looooooot, if you want them let me know!)
I'd like to highlight that the keg stand video went viral all over the world.
And more clips kept appearing of a hammered, completely dirty Macklin Celebrini (don't ask me why) wearing Will's hat (apparently).
He even said something on the mic!
And yeah, he was partying with the BU team guys (you can see Jonathan Morello in this video, who plays on the hockey team—he's the one in green wearing the Celtics jersey).
It's funny that the very next day, to calm (or not) everyone down after MarMon, that letter written by Mack was released.
But it didn't stop there. Over the following days, more MarMon clips kept dropping, including that awful scuba video.
And him sitting with the BU team guys—you can see that Aiden was there too (thank God). More footage, and yeah, he was completely dirty.
Look at the state of his foot lol.
And Cole Hutson was there as well.
Meanwhile, Will Smith was watching the race and cheering for his agent's wife like the polite cat he is, but later on, some clips came out of him at The Circle Taverna. Gabe was there, Vote was there,
Leno was there, and Mr. Celebrini too… which we only found out a bit later.
And the next day we had the big Will-Gabe-Mack dinner at Strega, of course (April 22nd).
