âIf youâre so disgusted by this,â Kuroro says, and at this point heâs too tired to pretend heâs not hurt by the otherâs rejection, âthen take it off of me. Lift your nen, Kurapika, and free us both from this curse.â
Kurapikaâs eyes search his, something unreadable in them that makes Kuroro want to look away but he canât. âNo,â the Kurta replies, not an ounce of hesitation in his response. Kuroro makes a frustrated noise.Â
âAnd why not?â Kurapika purses his lips.Â
âIâm no fool, Lucilfer,â he tells him. He steps nearer, taking in how Kuroro subconsciously leans into him. âI know youâd slit my throat the second I let you go.â
âI wouldnât,â Kuroro promises. Heâs telling the truth. Whether he likes it or not, the thought of disturbing even a hair on Kurapikaâs head makes him physically ill.Â
Kurapika traces a finger down the Spiderâs cheek and Kuroro hates how good it feels to have him so close. The other man is toying him, that much is clear, and yet Kuroro could care less. âNot like this, certainly.â Kurapika backs away. Kuroro has to restrain himself from chasing after him. âYou wonât kill me and, more importantly, you wonât kill my charges while youâre in this state.â
âSo youâre just going to leave me like this?â Kuroro asks him. He darts forward, seizing both of Kurapikaâs wrists and yanking the blond back against him. âHow cruel of you, my dear, to tempt me with this torture,â he spits, hating how agony splits ugly cracks in his words.Â
Kurapika makes no move to free himself from his grasp. Instead, he just stares up at him, calculating. When he opens his mouth to speak, his tone is so impossibly cold, callous, that Kuroro almost flinches. âGood,â Kurapika breathes, close to his ear. Kuroro shudders, that strange creature in his chest growing still, sated. âI want you to suffer, Lucilfer. I want you to want me so terribly that you canât think straight.â The manâs hands slip free from Kuroroâs and smooth down his chest, evil, evil. Kuroro chokes on his breath. âI want you to want me so much that you tear yourself apart,â Kurapika continues, venomous. âI want you to want me so much that you feel like youâre dying because you know that I could never, never want you back.â
Then, just because he can, Kurapika presses the ghost of a kiss to Kuroroâs jaw, the final nail in Kuroroâs coffin. âI want this,â he says, âso that you maybe, maybe, you can feel just a fraction of the pain that you have wrought upon me. The people I want are dead because of you; I will take satisfaction in being the one thing you want but can never have.â
