Unofficial Gay Fates Add-On

Happy Thursday! We're following the Reina Restoration and Charlotte updates with the Yukimura Update, which doubles Yukimura's (written) romance options! Thank you to all the authors who contributed to this update!

We've gone over the existing supports with a fine-tooth comb to deliver over 170 supports edited for bugfixes, typos, and quality. And we've finally gotten rid of those pesky stray voicelines that were hiding in the walls (we hope).

In addition to these new supports, a handful of existing supports have been edited and/or reworked:

*Elise/Charlotte has been reworked to omit some of the trauma-dumping that was (rightfully) commented upon as being a little too much. The premise is pretty much the same, but the tone has been shifted and Charlotte allowed a little more room to shine.

*Dwyer/Percy and Rhajat/Midori have had their S supports edited to be platonic.

*Flora/Peri has been reworked for clarity and condensed into a C-A. They are still S-support eligible, but no S support has been written at this time.

*Flora/Anna was reworked for brevity and better alignment with their characters.

*Kaze/Niles B-S has been rewritten to align more with their characters, reduce fanon, and bring the tone more in line with other Fates writing.

*Laslow/Keaton S has been rewritten to better align with the characters and their dynamic.

*Ryoma/Saizo S has been decluttered and edited for continuity.

Now to the bad news: in the process of editing and quality control, there were 34 supports that simply didn't make the cut. For various reasons, reworks were deemed insufficient, and it was decided that removing them and opening the support up for total rewrites was the best path forward. Flora was hit especially hard by this, since a majority of her supports were written before the current quality standards for UGF were put in place.

A list of the removed supports can be found here. If it is important to you to keep these supports, you can find their file names in the Support Authors and Support Bin Names document included with the update. Back them up however you wish. There should be no more removals after this; we've gone over every Original Gay Fates submission and many of the early UGF supports, and everything that remains has passed the quality check.

Since no changes were made to the GameData file, this update is safe to add in the middle of a Fates run.

After almost a year, the new update is here! We're calling this one the Charlotte Update, on account of her being featured in a fifth of the twenty-one new supports. That might not seem like a lot, but that's twice as many as any other character!

Following the results of the poll held in the UGF Discord server, Elise and Hayato have expanded their marriage options by one Hinata. Hinata can no longer marry the oldest characters, bringing his options more in line with the rest of his age group. Various other marriage options have been expanded or restricted, but those are mostly a reflection of restrictions that were already placed on submissions. The classic Xander/Ryoma support has been updated with some additional dialogue. Now they spend a bit more time expressing their affection for each other, instead of leaving it as an afterthought to politics.

Thanks to Tru, this update also address a number of other issues:

*Fixed a longstanding issue with DLC items being slightly out of order. DLC should now function properly.

*Certain optional files now have a properly titled dialogue folder for English EU versions of the game. If you're playing in a language other than English, you'll still need to change the folder title. Correct folder names can be found in Installation Instructions.

*Added EU and JP compatible versions of the Scarlet + Izana and Yukimura optional files.

*Icon Project compatibility patches now have unique icons correctly applied to DLC items.

*All compatibility patches that include Icon Project and Playable Lilith now have "unique" item icons for Playable Lilith

*Added a new Placeholder DLC items/classes import for those looking to do their own modding/compatibility patches. This should be the first thing you import into a clean base game Gamedata, but is not necessary to use if working off existing UGF files or compat patches. This does not give access to the DLC. It is simply for compatibility.

There are a number of things we take into consideration when reviewing submissions, but most importantly, a support should have an accurate interpretation of the characters involved and a decent understanding of tone and pacing. As a writer we ask that you be prepared to accept constructive criticism, in case edits need to be made. You should also be proficient enough in English grammar to require minimal editing on that front on the part of the mods.

Following last update's mass eviction, we are happy to announce the first installation of the Reina Romance Restoration, with brand-new Reina supports for Camilla, Azura, Silas, Ryoma, Subaki, Kaze, and Shura.
