You Just Watch Me || HIATUS

“Then why the hell would you think I would run off with another guy?” she asked, “If you trusted me, you’d know I’d never do that!”  Shaking her head, she crossed her arms.  “You wouldn’t.  So why, Frank, why?  You trust me, sure, but not enough, apparently.  You want to have kids with me - and I want to with you - but you freak out the moment there is a tiny chance I could leave you.  Why?”

“You took down one section. I’ve all over the country, being moved in boxes and hidden in trunks. Treated like little more than luggage. You don’t know it all, hardly anybody does. When I heard you were an agent… I was so proud Sebastian. I didn’t stop talking about you to my handler for a week. About how I always knew you were the strongest of all of us, and so smart and… about how I missed my little brother.”

“Look if it’s that much of a problem, I’ll just go see King. At least he’ll be glad to see me, he’ll understand that I couldn’t do anything. Do you even know what I’ve been through the last two years? Wishing every day that I was still here with all of you. But no, I was working to take down Russo’s team. He tried to kill me, Sebastian. Twice, and he messed with my head at the same time. He tried to kill King and Sonja and Chris too.”

“I know I did. I begged not to have to come back here just so I wouldn’t be put in this position. But Sebastian… I thought me standing shaking my head would be enough to say don’t call me Merri. I’m here though, for a while, and I can talk. Tell me what I’ve missed.

“You were about to blow my cover, then I’d have been dead. Not metaphorically dead. Dead dead.”

At his words, Samar was reluctant, but also touched at the same time. Her surprise grew. She’d thought he could be understanding when he wanted to, their conversation before the night they’d spent together had proved that, but everything else had cancelled it out because of the negative emotions that came after the fact. Because of how badly he’d reacted to her helping Liz when she was a fugitive, she’d immediately assumed he’d react just as badly to this. “Thank you.” She murmured as she slid her jacket off to show him the long but shallow cut. “It’s a flesh wound, really. I could’ve tortured myself better than al-Thani and his men did.”

She slept comfortably almost all night, which only ever happened when she was cuddled up with Dwayne. She wasn’t, at all, used to that yet. But it just made her feel safer. When she woke up she tried to make as little noise as she possibly could, not wanting to disrupt Dwayne if her was finally asleep.

Samar hadn’t been expecting him to say what he did, or ask if she was okay. Though he had been nicer to her recently, way nicer in fact, she expected him to be just as angry and betrayed as Aram and Cooper. But the fact that he didn’t get angry or upset with her for what she’d done, instead choosing to ask what she wished at least one of them would’ve asked since returning, meant more to her than she could say. “I’ve had worse, I’ll live.” She shrugged, trying to be nonchalant, but wincing slightly as the fabric of her jacket brushed across the cleaned but still raw cut on her arm. She needed to sleep for a week, honestly. Just a week straight of rest.
