Patting myself on the back for making a bug repellent that smells heavenly.

I know I'm middle-aged because I get joy out of getting a new hose and hose attachment to water my garden at night in a heatwave. A suggested washing the dog with the hose outside and I just feel that's a bit barbaric since our pup despises being wet.

Today is the last beautiful weather day before the heatwave comes for us next week. I went roller skating with my friend at the park and although there were a lot of people out, only a couple people were using the space we were skating in. Then the grocery store, which is normally packed on the weekends, was empty. And I made tacos with fresh pico de gallo and grilled zucchini. Cute day even though I had to work this morning. I forgot all about that.

I love Chicago and all the people flying their gigantic Juneteenth, Afro-American, Puerto Rican, and Latin American flags out their cars. Summer is beautiful walking down the sidewalk in the shade of century old houses, booming music blasting out people's cars with the windows rolled down.

I've always been a hater, but I truly h8 sports.

Ground up the hojicha leaves I had and made it into a latte. I much prefer it iced latte style than steeped. Idk how to get it to a fine enough powder so it's not floating around in the drink, but it'll do for now.

Never really into worshiping celebrity or whatever, but Marjane Satrapi's passing is very sad. My friend recently wrote a graphic novel about how Chicago teens organized around Chicago Public Schools banning Persepolis. That graphic novel was so formative for me. What a big bummer.

fantasizing about getting my master gardener's certification and working at a botanic garden or conservatory. i just saw my dream job open at the conservatory near me and i'm not qualified at all but the thought of working with plants and very few humans sounds perfect.
