There’s an ability I like in fiction called Hydrokinesis aka water manipulation and in the show of one piece that would be pretty op (think stuff like making giant hands out of sea water lol)

Which characters with devil fruits (or hell, characters without devil fruits even) do you think would be genuinely scared of a reader with an ability like that cause it’s hard for me to interpret a lot of these characters showing some form of fear but you always just write it so well

Welllllll, due to recent manga events, I'm going to start this list off with Killingham. Not gonna say exactly what happens, but he outright says that his "greatest fear" involves a certain character with water manipulation abilities. I think that's a solid basis to say he'd be at least wary of someone with similar abilities as said greatest fear.

The cowardly types like Teach and Buggy are also definitely not fond of a fight that's already so stacked against them. They'd prefer to either avoid that kind of battle altogether or find some (probably underhanded) tactic to ensure a better chance of victory. Expect begging for mercy if said tactic doesn't work out, and they find themselves cornered. It at least looks like utter terror. Is it genuine? Possibly! Depends on how likely you are to try to kill them.

An opponent who can control water is Crocodile's worst possible matchup, and he knows it. At minimum, he's wary of you.
