There’s one scene in which Meryl Streep as Miranda has just gotten some terrible personal news and looks anything but glamorous.  “That was all Meryl,” Frankel explained. “I had no idea what she was going to do with that scene. She just came in with no makeup and wearing a robe and said, ‘I’m ready to go.’ It was unbelievably brave (of her) and it was brilliant.
