Universe hopping can mess with your head. People arenât made for that - jumping from their own universe to somewhere else, then somewhere else, then somewhere else - itâs not exactly the most fun an experience, truth be told. And it can be easy to mesh universes together in your head. Teddy only knows bits and pieces about this universe from his search for Billy, but - one thing he does know is that, no matter how many universes he peeked into trying to find his fiance, he knows this is his Billy. This is his Billy. The realisation hits him like a wave, washing over him and finally, finally putting him at ease. By the sounds of it thereâs a lot of shit going on in this universe, but.. they can figure that out. So long as theyâre doing it together.
âIâm a little insulted you think I wouldnât pull out every single stop for you, baby.â Teddy jokes with an amused and very sappy sort of grin on his face. Thereâs nothing he wouldnât do for Billy when it comes down to it. And he knows how that sounds, know people look at the two of them and think theyâre over the top or too much or too dependent, but - theyâve been through a few hells and come back stronger for them, both in their relationship and outside of it. Theyâre.. right where they should be. Maybe not in the right universe, but in the right place. âI guess if it sucked that much you might be less inclined to go disappearing on me, huh?â Another joke, he knows - but itâs half true. He knows Billy didnât disappear on him, but he still disappeared. And it definitely wasnât easy.
Heâs okay, though. Teddy listens intently, feeling a little twist in his stomach at knowing that Billy had to go through all of this, spiral through these thoughts by himself. Well - not by himself, if his brother is here too. Tommy wouldâve helped, Teddyâs sure of that much. Wouldâve at least helped Billy see straight when he was going through this. And heâs okay now. Heâs okay now. âMe? Billy, what -â Teddy listens for a moment, a little surprised that this has been playing on Billyâs mind. Though.. maybe he shouldnât be. God knows heâs worried about Billy so much while theyâve been separated. It makes sense.. Billy would feel the same. âIâm.. okay now.â Teddy answers honestly, letting out a slow breath. And he is. Heâs been⊠all kinds of not okay, trying to find his fiance, but now heâs⊠heâs good. âIâm good, I just.. I needed to find you. I needed to know youâre okay. So long as you are - I am, too.âÂ
Years, theyâve been together. Yet years later, Billy still finds himself stumped at just how well Teddy knows and treats him. Is this what itâs like to realise heâs been spoiled, now that heâs lived without it for what feels like months? Probably. The realisation just makes him hold onto his fiance even tighter, plant a firm kiss right to Teddyâs smiling lips. â Thatâs my bad. I guess I didnât realise that multiple universes were included on the stop route. â In retrospect, perhaps he shouldnât be surprised by that. And -- okay, as much as that joke hurt, he deserved that. What kind of partner was he, in comparison? Unable to take the man heâd promised to share his life with on a trip across universes. Instead, leaving all of a sudden, without giving him any warning. If anything, Teddy could be irate and Billy would willingly take it. It might alleviate the guilt, especially after imagining if their positions were reversed. Hell, heâd take anything, if it helped the odds of Teddy staying with him. He swallows thickly, and just holds on for a moment, hope that says enough about how unwilling he is to leave Teddy alone again. â Never again, not if iâve got anything to say about it. You can even put a tracker on me, if you want. Eternal finger trap, superglue, rope leash like Gollum? Iâll leave it to your judgement. â
Of course, Billy can read what Teddy isnât saying out loud, can tell that his fiance definitely wasnât okay at one point. Heâd hoped that his mom, or Kate, Eli, anybody back home had been there to help Teddy, but... Billy gives Teddyâs hair a small stroke, and at the sounding of a car horn nearby, sticks a middle finger out to the driver out of view from Teddy. â Iâm really sorry, babe. And I know thatâs not enough, like -- not nearly enough to make it up to you, or make it better. â Billy starts, and ... yeah, heâs beyond relieved to have Teddy here, wants to hug and kiss him stupid. But thereâs also the guilt remaining, the need to do better for this miracle of a guy who deserves the world, and definitely far better than the fiance heâs got right now. â But -- How about we go indoors, away from this audience? I wanna hear all âbout this. â
