I don’t understand what’s happened because I genuinely enjoyed season 1 and felt it was more or less true to the source material; the few deviations there were didn’t bother me. Season 2 was where it started to get a little odd, but it was still a pretty enjoyable watch overall. But this new season is absolutely bollocks. GRRM has every right to be furious with these writers because their product absolutely sucks.

The only part that doesn’t fully make sense to me is the “attachment to his fëa”, but I’m wondering if it was a paraphrased line that was more-so meant to emphasize Sauron becoming attached to his hröa (body).

I am awaiting season 3 with such anticipation, and look forward to having the completed product in a few years’ time.

Sauron experiencing “longing of the flesh” is clearly referencing whatever attachment he holds for Galadriel. Amazon can only say so much and still keep everything PG per the Tolkien estate’s stipulations, but that line really drives home what kind of dynamic we’ve seen all along between them. We are about to get a full-on triangulation of entanglements in the same vein as Dracula or Phantom of the Opera, and I can hardly believe it, and I am so excited to see it come to fruition on screen.
