Meeting a friend at the airport and I need people to have more anxiety over missing flights

I haaaattttteeee when people go “the average price of books in Canada is $15!!” and their source for that is 1) Amazon and 2) a fucking wholesale reselling site. No. That’s the average price for places that can sell books at a loss. The average paperback in Canada is OVER $25. That number has been creeping up my whole life. I am being priced out of my passion, so yeah, I’m going to correct you because that’s wrong. You’re wrong. It might be the average YOU specifically pay. But all of Canada? No.

#it’s so disingenuous #I am passionate about complaining that things are expensive #I mostly buy ebooks #those are all around 12-16 dollars #but I still won’t say that’s the average price #because going to those nice local stores I love to support?#I drop $27-$30 on a paperback #sure Amazon can be used for the average book price in Canada #but only once all those local - even corporate - bookstores are forced to close #book rant #everything costs money #way too much money
