I Love Living in the City [Candy]

“I mean, I do have plenty of glowsticks, but those wouldn’t really do much. Mind hanging out right here while I go to the basement and restart it?”
Candy didn’t even wait for a response before she went down by herself. After fumbling in the dark for a bit, she eventually found the generator start button and pressed it. A small whir, and soon the club’s floors and lights were back in working order.
“It worked!” Candy said, triumphantly as she emerged from downstairs. But as soon as she saw the appearance of her newest visitor she froze.
When the lights came back on, he had to close his eyes against the sudden brightness. He opened them again, blinked, and looked around at the box shapes he’d seen before, now able to make out what they actually were. He observed many speakers, probably close to ten, though he didn’t take time to count and be sure, and a turntable up o the stage, complete with many buttons, more than he could see from where he was standing, he guessed. He wouldn’t even be able to find the power button!
Then, his gaze fell on her, fixed in her place, satring at him with her slightly panicked green eyes. “A-ah!” He had expected this; of course he had. Everyone stared at him in that way at some point. But now, he wished that the lights had never come back on, that he had been able to slip quietly away, that he didn’t have to deal with yet another person who feared for her brains whenever he was around.
He forced a pathetic smile and said weakly, “Yaaay...” He took a step backwards. “I’m gonna l-leave now... b-before you call the c-cops for r-real.” He tried to chuckle, but it came out more like a sigh. “Okay, goodbyeee...”
