“So, I already have two cats – Cookie, and Brownie. My sister just wrote to me saying I should adopt another one and call it Blondie.” Hugo looked up from the letter in his hand and spoke to the nearest person. “Should I do it?” 

“Hugo,” Elias said first, looking at him with a very serious expression on his face. “You, a Care of Magical Creatures major, are asking another Care of Magical Creatures major... if you should get another cat. The answer will always be yes.” His face broke out into a wide grin and he let out a laugh. 

Her brow creased a bit at his laugh, her head tilting a bit. “What’s funny?” She asked, rather confused by his reaction. Estelle didn’t put two and two together to realize it was her mistake and her memory was just doing her an injustice. She giggled a little at his story, “He follows you back? That’s adorable! Why don’t you just make friends with him, wouldn’t that be easier than making him go all the way home?” She asked curiously. She didn’t understand what could be so bad about an adorable little bowtruckle wanting to be your friend. “How about nifflers then?” She suggested, rather excited that she’d gotten to pick their topic. 

Elias shook his head a bit at her question. “No, don’t worry about it, it’s nothing.” He said first, before grabbing a piece of parchment so he could scribble down some ideas as they came up with them. “It’s adorable, until he gets himself tangled in my hair, and I have to sneak back to Professor Kettleburn’s office for help to get him out.” That had only happened once, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience. “Besides, he should be with the rest of his branch, not in my room.” He pointed out. “I do really like him though. I didn’t mind him being in my room until he started causing chaos.” He definitely had some times where he sneaked creatures back to his room to take care of them, but not usually ones Professor Kettleburn would notice if they went missing. “Sure, nifflers would be great.”

Estelle got to Care of Magical Creatures class early, she loved spending the extra time with whatever creature they were studying that day. The professor explained their assignment, that they were to pick a creature in their pairs and do a full presentation on the creature’s nature, how to care for it, and any other information that was relevant. He listed off the pairings and sent everyone to get to work. Estelle looked around, having not recognized the name of her partner, and hoped someone else looked just as lost as she did. Noticing the boy with slightly singed hair, she giggled a little and hurried over. “Elias?” She asked, and when he confirmed she grinned brightly. “I’m Estelle. Do you have any ideas for our creature? I was thinking maybe a hippogryph or a bowtruckle or maybe a niffler?” She rambled. Estelle had a bad habit of speaking very quickly when she got excited.

Elias normally liked to get to class early. However, with an incident in his dragonology class right before, he was actually a few minutes late, and was only excused when Professor Kettleburn seemed to notice the singing on his hair from the incident with a dragon. So, he stood in the back, and observed the rest of the class, curiously watching to see what they were going to be doing that day... but before long, it was announced they had to work on something in pairs. As soon as he heard Estelle’s name paired with his, he looked around, trying to spot the other student, before she came rushing up to him. “Oh, yeah, hey.” He said with a smile, before laughing a bit. He wasn’t going to say that they’d been in classes together for years, he knew she’d likely forget again... he just assumed she had more important things to keep track of. “I have a bowtruckle that keeps trying to follow me back to my room after classes, so I think encouraging that behaviour might not be a good idea... but the others would be good.”

“Oh of course not,” He joked lightly. As his grin faded, Wyatt nodded hesitantly at the other’s question, plastering a smile back on his lips. “Yes,” He lied,  before sighing, “No, not really but I don’t particularly want to ruin our date with family drama. Since that’s apparently a thing I have now.” Wyatt crinkled his nose, before his face lit up at the sight of the kittens.

Elias’ frown deepened at the other’s words, but then his eyes widened when he mentioned family. “Family drama?” He repeated, blinking. “But I thought that you--” However, when the kittens came running out of their carrier, he couldn’t help but smile, and he immediately crouched down towards the floor, picking one up. “I want them all. Wyatt, this was a bad idea.”

Wyatt laughed with the other, walking through the door to the room. “It’s almost as if you know I like animals or something,” He teased, the grin never leaving his lips. His cheeks flushed as the other pressed his lips to his cheek, interlacing their fingers as the other took his hand. Wyatt stayed quiet as the other spoke to the man at the desk, before following him into the room. “This is amazing, thank you. I really needed this,” He admitted, chewing on his lip slightly as the smile faded somewhat. Ever since he’d found out about Evan, his mind had been all over the place.

Elias laughed at the other’s words and he shrugged. “It’s not like you’re studying them, or anything.” He pointed out playfully. He squeezed his hand, just gently, and followed the man off to the room. Once inside, he turned back towards Wyatt, eyes blinking a bit and his expression faltering slightly. “Are you alright?” His voice was soft, not wanting to press... but Wyatt wouldn’t just say something like that if it was nothing. Before another minute had passed, however, the man from the front came back with a carrier crate - and as soon as he opened the little door, several kittens came bounding out.

“Well that’s because I’m usually right,” He counted with a grin. It faded as the other averted his gaze, Emrys shaking his head at his brother. “I hope so, but I mean it, you need to talk to me, or Winnie – I would say Cain, but we both know you’d get more emotions out of a brick wall.”

“Wow, debatable.” Bryn said teasingly, laughing at his words. The last thing he wanted to be talking about, especially when Emrys had just come back to life, was the idea that he could talk to him, or Winnie... he knew that. But he wasn’t the one their attention should be focused on right now. “I know, I will.” He told him first, before just shaking his head. “He’s better than you think.”

“Well, I’m glad, or this might be slightly awkward,” Wyatt teased gently. He found it so easy to be with the other, and though he was nervous, he was comfortable around Elias. Wyatt simply giggled at the other’s insistence, but kept his eyes shut. The second he could open them he did, his face lighting up as he heard barking. “You brought me– we can pet kittens?!” Wyatt threw his arms around the other, “Best date ever!”

“I guess it would be, hey?” Elias admitted with a laugh. He guided him to the door, and once it was open, and he told Wyatt to open his eyes, he felt a grin returning to his face. “We can pet kittens.” He confirmed, laughing as the Wyatt suddenly hugged him. “I’m glad you like it.” He wrapped his arms around him and squeezed gently, planting a kiss on his cheek. “Cm’on!” He said after a moment, grabbing his hand and starting to tug him towards the desk. After chatting with the man at the front desk for a moment, he motioned for the other two to follow him, and led them into a room with several cat trees and some treats for them to give out. “They bring them in with a couple of the carriers.” Elias told Wyatt once the volunteer had left the room, momentarily leaving the two of them alone again.

He laughed lowly at Elias before thanking the nurse for helping patch up the wound on his chest and slipping his shirt back on over his head, grimacing as it tugged and shot small pain through his torso. “I had, though it seems the dose wasn’t enough,” he replied. The dragon he had been working with was newer than the others, so Elon had still been trying to get to know the dragon. “In any case, at least it was me and not someone else.”

Elias frowned slightly as he watched Elon pull his shirt back over his head, seeing the grimace forming on his face. The dragons were dangerous, and they all knew that... but they didn’t usually get hurt, they were in a pretty controlled environment. “Right, yeah. He’s big.” He said thoughtfully, assuming that would be the reason that the treat didn’t work. “I guess so? Hopefully he’ll adjust to students soon.”

“I can be patient. Most of the time, I’m just excited,” Wyatt admitted sheepishly. “Air, my own two feet?” He suggested, shrugging his shoulders. This will probably work. Wyatt let out a laugh, “Probably. That doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence,” He teased, but allowed the other to move his hands, walking slowly so he didn’t fall.

Elias’ smile became softer as the other said he was excited, and he nodded a bit. “I am too.” He admitted. He laughed, however, at Wyatt’s lack of confidence in his plan. “It’ll be fine!” He insisted, walking the rest of the way with the two of them like that - and hoping that Wyatt didn’t peek. Once they reached the shelter, he slowed and stopped in front of the door. “Okay, you can open your eyes.” He pulled open the door, and almost immediately, the sound of dogs barking could be heard. “So... this shelter sometimes lets people volunteer to come play with the kittens. So that’s what we’re doing.” 

“Oh, really? Why, are you going to tell me where we’re going?” Wyatt grinned at the other. As the other pouted, laughter left Wyatt’s lips, and he leaned forwards to kiss the other briefly, before pulling away again. He shot Elias a look of disbelief as the other said he wouldn’t let him trip, but closed his eyes, raising his hand to cover them. “Happy now?”

“We’re going to be there in less than two minutes. I thought Hufflepuffs were supposed to be patient?” Elias teased, smiling against his lips when he leaned forward to kiss him. “We’re on a sidewalk, what would you trip on?” He nodded though, as Wyatt asked if he was happy, before realizing he couldn’t see him. “I am. Cm’on, I’ll just...” He hadn’t actually thought of how to guide him. “Oh! Here, put your hands on my shoulders. This will probably work.” He quickly moved in front of the other and took his hands, putting them on his shoulders before starting to slowly walk towards the shelter.

“I will pout as long as I want,” Wyatt teased back. As the other called him cheesy, he let out a laugh. “Yeah, I am, but you like it, or you wouldn’t be blushing,” Wyatt pointed out. He went to speak again, but the other stopped dead in his tracks. “Cover my eyes? Are you sure you’re not gonna let me fall? Or trip?”

“I don’t think you’ll be pouting for very long.” Elias admitted. He figured, at least if Wyatt decided he didn’t like being on a date with Elias, he would probably still have a good time anyway. “Maybe.” He muttered, pouting himself. But then as Wyatt asked about if he was going to let him trip, he shook his head, rolling his eyes. “I won’t let you trip. Cover your eyes!”

“You know, you two would be cute together,” She told him with a grin, before letting out a sigh. “Some twats put him in there, from what I gathered. Wouldn’t tell me who.”

“Really!?” Elias asked quickly, excited by the idea... but that excitement quickly deflated. “I think I messed it up, though.” He admitted, before shaking his head a bit. “He doesn’t deserve that... but I should go.”

As the other told him it was a surprise, Wyatt huffed at the other, but the smile never left his lips. “Alright fine,” He admitted defeat, letting out an overly dramatic sigh. “I’m sure I’d love anything you planned, it means I get to spend time with you,” Wyatt told him honestly, his smile growing as he squeezed the other’s hand back. “I am ridiculously curious as to what you’ve planned though.” 

“We’re not far, so you don’t have to pout for too long.” Elias teased gently, grinning as he looked at him. He felt his face getting red though, at what he said next, and he just shook his head. “You’re cheesy.” He said playfully and nudged him with his elbow, still holding onto his hand. “You’ll find out soon!” However, as soon as they turned a corner, he stopped dead in his tracks, meeting eyes with him again. “Okay, you have to cover your eyes. I’ll help you walk the rest of the way.”

While Amelia might have looked the part - holding the cooking equipment, apron in place, a concentrate look on her face - cooking was just not her forte. Mr. and Mrs. Bones were running late at work, which was a regular occurance in their household, which left Elias and her to try to fix some of the things up for Easter. Edgar, of course, refused to help.

Elias could not believe how both he and Amelia had been raised with parents who, albeit not amazing, were fairly decent cooks. The two of them simply had no ability - despite following recipes as best as they could, something always seemed to go wrong... and he could never figure out what it was.

“What?” He asked before blinking and sniffing the air, eyes going wide. “Oh!” He ran to the oven and pulled it open grabbing a towel to pull out the, clearly burnt, pie. “Did... we not set a timer for this?” His voice was hesitant as he slowly put it on the counter, staring down at their very dark excuse for a pie.

“Sorry, did you just say he kissed you?” Juliet’s face lit up, “Wait–” Her brows knitted together, “You didn’t handle it well? Elias!!! Look at him, he’s adorable,” She huffed, “Well, okay. He told me not to tell anyone, but eh, fuck it. He’s in the hospital wing. I went there to get a potion and saw him.”

Elias groaned and leaned back on his seat at her reaction, his hands going to his face for a moment from the embarrassment. “I know he is!” He exclaimed as she called Wyatt cute. However, as soon as she mentioned the hospital wing, he suddenly sat up straight again, eyes widening. “Why’s he in the hospital wing?”

“I never really thought about it like that,” Winnie mused, shaking her head. “Emrys is– was, the one that was better with potions,” Her smile faded at the mention of her brother, before she shook her head. “Brilliant,” The girl swooped down to one of the elves, quickly asking for the ingredients, watching with a smile as they went to fetch them. “Cool, isn’t it?”

Elias winced as he realized he’d brought up something that would remind her of Emrys, but he nodded a little bit, deciding to move on as best he could. “It’s so cool. I can’t believe I’ve never been in here... usually I just wait for meals to get any food or tea.”
