Moriarty isnāt the one coming after Sherlock. Moriarty is the consulting criminal who has helped set up the organization coming after Sherlock. Moriarty is a ploy. Mycroft is the only one who can ever save Sherlock, therefore in order to destroy Sherlock, one must distract Mycroft. Moriarty infiltrates the government easily enough. Mycroft even says in episode 4 that Moriarty has been desperate for his attention. This is because one must distract Mycroft to make any advance upon Sherlock.
Everything weāve thought about this story so far has only scratched the surface. Itās not Moriarty vs Sherlock vs The British Government, itās an organization of people consulting with Moriarty to seek vengeance upon Sherlock for a vendetta started 20 years ago. In order to succeed, Mycroft must be distracted. Mycroft has seen this coming and has put strongholds in place even before A Study in Pink. We were told seven years ago but we didnāt notice the clues. This is a game of chess. Mycroft is the queen. Sherlock is the king. And Sherlock must be protected at all costs.
Mycroft encourages Sherlock to solve Moriartyās puzzles because it keeps Sherlock close to Mycroft and in the dark about whatās actually going on. Moriarty messes with Mycroft because he knows thereās no way to stop this: damned if you do, damned if you donāt. If Sherlock doesnāt solve Moriartyās puzzles many British citizens will die. If Sherlock does solve Moriartyās puzzles, Sherlock himself gets closer and closer to losing this game, the pieces orbiting around the board, closing in on him. And he doesnāt even know it.
These demons have been waiting for a very long time. Twenty. Years.
Iāll be writing my last meta before The Final Problem on this, exposing who i believe to be the secret organization of people who employed Moriarty to distract Mycroft but never to kill Sherlock. The clues have all been there. Iāve been working to decode a very specific set of clues for six months now, only to get a final piece of information from a random message in my inbox this morning. What a coincidence. But is the universe really that lazy?
