[ jacob elordi. cis male. he/him. ] did you hear that ulysses flynn is currently living in charming, california? they’re a twenty-six year old who have been in town for about twenty-six years, and are a member of the devil’s disciples & security at ace of spades casino ]. it’s known around town that they’re quite resourceful but can also be reckless. people in charming always say they’re reminded of uly when thinking of drag racing at 4am, popping adderall to stay awake and hand written letters from prison.

“Shit, man, if you want a wet t-shirt contest it’s usually at the bar across the way,” Blue notes. He had yet to know if it was him or his dancer partner who had caused it, and with the way the room kept shifting, the exact backtrack of the sequence of movements leading up to it were lost almost instantly. 

He looked up at him, a gesture Blue found rare. Despite the flickering of lights, he swears he can see the reservation of an expression only certain hues can pick up. Whatever it was, the other surely wasn’t drunk yet. Candor flooded this place, not a single second wasted on keeping it together. 

“Were you having a good night before you took a rum shower?”

When the first words out of the man wasn’t an apology, Uly surprised himself by not being ticked off by that. Instead, he laughed because yeah, that was actually a good one. Wavy Limbs had jokes, and he could appreciate that, even if he was down half a drink. 

Travis grinned as Ulysses reacted to his new relationship status and nodded eagerly, “Yeah dude, I know. Rosie is fucking fire man. But yeah, we’ve been going for a while, we hit a few bumps in the road every so often but…we’re going good.” He explained as best as he could in his own Travis way. Of course, in his mind things were good with Rosie, but just like with all his past relationships, he hadn’t found that thing that other people seemed to have, that thing that made the relationship deep and connected, and lasting.

“Dude, I’m running out of hazing ideas, we need to get these asshole patched immediately. The sooner the better, y'know?” He grinned, glad to have Ulysses back, of course Danny was his best friend, had been since birth, and Landon was basically family, but being patched in was a whole different sort of family and bond, than only Uly and him knew so far. “Fuck, yeah, let’s get wasted.” He beamed, following Ulysses’ lead easily.

“Well shit, you seem happy. Glow-y and shit when you talk about her. I’d call you a fucking simp for that but you know what, I get it.” He’s not exactly convinced that Rosie was somehow the one, but he was sure she was the one currently making his friend all gushy and that was enough for him to approve of it -- not that the relationship needed that. 

Uly sets them on a trek towards La Luna, one the pair knew well. There had been more nights than he could count where the two of them -- or three of them and four of them when timing worked out -- strolled into the place just to fall out of it hours later because no one paid any regard to their limits. 

“Hope your tolerance is better than I remember because I’ma drink the bar dry.” 

⠀⠀ ODESSA WAS ALWAYS LOOKED AS A PRETTY GIRL. the girl who was only good for public statements and handling matters under wraps. they all looked over her and never believed that she was capable of so much more. she could be much more dangerous if he wanted to be. however , this wasn ‘ t one of those situations. just because a simple boy was to blind to see the difference between here and paris is not something she should ruin her reputation over. ❛ nothing. ❜ she simply stated , straighten up her posture. ❛ if you really thing i am that petty to get angry over a simple argument than you are much more daft than you look. ❜

“You’re the fucking worst, you know that?” Came the echo of the affectionate retort as she threw her arms around him. Her hug a little too tight. A little too long. One that was an apology with every passing second. She held it together, managed to hide the way her eyes closed and she was transported to hug she gave him before he went away. 

Even if it hadn’t been the last time, it had been a last time. 

And no one tells you that the a call back to an ending in a new chapter would hurt just the same as the first time you read it. 

“And you look, like, way better in daylight. Those fluorescence bulbs are bullshit.” 

“I been told,” He concurs, though no teasing words from her mouth could have lessened the wave of contentedness that washed over him at just being in her presence again. Good people were few and far between in the life they led, but Fallon was one of the best of them. 

When they break from the hug, he keeps a hand on her shoulder, a light squeeze following to accompany the words that he hasn’t wanted to say but knows that he must.

Her head tilts back and her eyes roll that way too as he harps on her for not getting a ride from someone else, growling lowly in frustration of being quasi-lectured. 

 To put it simply, she hated getting into cars with strangers. To put it in ways more complicated, she hated asking for help.

Jaw still tense, the corners of her lips pull slightly downward at his admission of being unable to sleep – something she can empathize with. Sleeping without him was something that had been impossible two years ago, but she’d found ways of coping. However, those methods fell apart at her father’s passing and these days she’s lucky to collect a handful of hours when she can. Laying awake and thinking about how their last conversation had gone hadn’t helped. 

 "Yeah, well, I wouldn’t have guessed that from our last conversation,“ she tells him, voice low, her hand rubbing over her collarbone as if she’s trying to self-soothe. 

 But that made me fucking hate you.That’s what he had said. And she’d never known him to lie to her. 

He knows that gesture of her hand as it moves against her collarbone, mostly because he used to interrupt it with a nudge of his nose followed by the press of his lips and reassurances that everything was going to be alright. Nothing was alright now, and he would only be lying to them both of if he tried to say it was. 

He has no decent counter for her reference to their last conversation, he had been trying to send a message that clearly had been received, even if he had executed it poorly. Everything about that conversation was overwhelming, so he had done what he did best when he felt that way, he lashed out. 

He’s still figuring out how to shoulder the growing pains of this new and godawful co-existence with her as well as every other part of it that just hurt.

a small laugh came from him and he shrugged,” i wish that was true for me.” he found himself waking up at the crack of dawn no matter how late he had stayed up. then again it wasn’t like he was getting that much sleep anyway. he knew that everything was different for the both of them since they were out. they were clearly trying their best to handle their shit but that was sometimes easier said than done. especially when you couldn’t keep your eyes closed for more than a few hours at most. 

“sounds fucking strange out loud but i’ll take it,” he said after a few moments,” but if you can’t trust your brothers who can you trust?” things were just different when you were part of the MC. if it wasn’t for them he knew that he wouldn’t have survived during his time locked up. they had provided protection but they were also the reason he was locked up in the first place. he sighed and nodded since he understood not wanting to be alone. 

he kept his hands shoved in his pockets, relieved to hear that uly had someone,” it’s hard to go back to where you were,” he said without thinking twice,” i have to clean out my folk’s place and i’ve been crashing at the clubhouse, the silence is driving  me insane if i’m not around a bunch of people.” 

“No one, and that’s the truth.” That’s how he found himself being so ride or die for the club, because that’s how everyone in it was for him. It stretched far beyond the realms of normal friendships and he took that shit seriously, which he had shown time and time again when needed. 

( That’s what family did, after all. ) 

His father had taught him everything he needed to know about what not to do, and the hole carved out in his life by the man’s absence was one he thought of less and less while he served his time. He imagines it must be different when you came from parents who gave a shit, which was always the impression he got from Rafael when he spoke of his. 

“stop,” she warned, not even wanting to think of that as a possibility. every important man in her life ended up getting locked up and disappearing, she couldn’t mentally do that again. “we’re not going to lose you again, let alone lose me, so everyone can just chill.” there had to be another option though, they had to be able to make their money somehow. “so just come up with another option that doesn’t end up with us the police catching us.”

with how many times she saw it in movies, she was at a loss on how it was actually supposed to work. “i don’t know. i thought you could tell me anything, ask me anything. people do it all the time, i’m sure you could’ve found some kind of way to ask.” maybe she should’ve just assumed and played the role of lovestruck girl who came to visit him once a week, no one would’ve even batted an eye..possibly. 

“i’m not telling you, he’ll probably end up missing if i do..” a smile beaming up at him once he began to lead her towards the shortcut. with anyone else probably leading her to her demise, he was probably the only one that could take her off the beaten track and she’d follow.

after a quick walk they had arrived to the abandoned house and it definitely fit the description. with the weeds growing everywhere, everything looking like it was going to crumble at any second, this was definitely going to be interesting. that was until he had to make a stupid it joke, this was probably going to be terrifying. shoving him away, “shut up, you know that’s not funny, you know i hate that movie.” for all she knew, the stupid clown was probably going to be in there. 

“if you make me have the worst high thinking about that clown, i swear to god..”

“That movies boss and you know it.” Granted, he would have said that about most horrors. As far as genres went, that was his all time favourite and he’s sure she recalls as much from when he made her sit through them with him in high school. He takes the three rotted wooden steps up to the porch in one easy stride, a perk of being absurdly long-legged. A fresh padlock on the front of the scratched white door made it clear that the town had seemingly stepped in to stop the misuse of the dilapidated abode, but that didn’t phase Uly much. 

He always had a back-up plan. 

“C’mon, we’re old schooling it through the back,” He informs her, prying open the side fence enough to get it open and leaving it that way for her to follow him through it. The back garden is as unkempt as the front, including a rickety home made swing from the branch of the tallest tree there that seemed to hit the trunk over and over despite the wind being mild as day rolled into evening. 

“Shit,” she breathes sharply between them, shaking her head at both herself and him – at how quickly and badly the last thirty second could have gone – putting the safety back in place on the pistol before tucking it back into her bag. 

 She could have fucking killed him. 

 She’s only barely swallowing down a panic attack as he attempts to explain to her, her hands on her hips and her shoulders coiled with tense energy. 

 "The Bronco is in the shop,“ she explains in one breath, flustered with her eyes squeezed shut before she opens them to him again. 

 "It’s not fucking ideal but it is what it is and I can handle it,” she’s inhaling, trying to ground herself. 

 What was I supposed to do? Call you to walk me home? 

 "Yeah, it’s three in the fucking morning – what the fuck are you doing out, even?“

He can only blink in disbelief at that explanation, as though her Bronco was the only means of transportation that existed in town. 

“Is every single Uber in Charming in the fucking shop too? I know Darcy can’t be paying you so badly you can’t afford to catch one home. Jesus fuck.” His heart is still hammering in his chest, an erratic thud that he’s not sure whether it was down to the adrenaline or just from seeing her again. 

( Time would tell, only one of those options ever truly wore off. )

“When it feels like an attack or something.” Gabi cursed here and there but it didn’t mean that she liked to be cursed at. Not that he was doing that but she was hoping to get the superiority thing right off the bat. Whether it worked or not was yet to be seen. 

He lifted the bandana over his face and she was rolling her eyes as if she’d just watched her kid come home with a five cent version of a costume. “Are you planning on stealing a bank or something?” She paused to think. “Don’t answer that, I’d rather not be an accessory to a crime.” 

He looked bad. The grimace she showed him reflected her feeling towards the outfit. “I was taught not to say anything if you’ve got nothing good to say so I’m… not going to say anything.” It was horrific. 

“Matching is a great skill to have. Since you’re new at that concept. Maybe stick with two colours like black with another colour or grey with another colour.”

“I’m not attacking you, if I was, you’d know about it. I’d be saying some real mean shit, you wouldn’t even care about the curses.” That was less a threat and more a statement, he can’t imagine a reason he would be in that kind of verbal spat with her, but stranger things have happened in Charming. 

“No offence but if I was, you would be the last person I told. Something tells me you’d fold like a house of cards if you were interrogated about it.” If a meter man was a looming figure, he assumes a detective would be ten times worse on the jitters scale. 

His eyes narrowed at her, unimpressed but receptive to her what she’s saying. It couldn’t hurt, after all. 

It’s not that she doesn’t know how to handle the weapon – Goldie had rolled her eyes at how by-the-book Edie had been about taking on gun ownership. License to carry, registration, safety classes. It’s that she’s never had a reason to draw it before, in spite of the fact it was hidden in her purse every night. 

 It’s just ironic how the first person she’s pointed it at is the last person she’d willingly hurt. 

 Adrenaline is buzzing; she can feel the heat from the back of her neck spread over her shoulders and down her arms to her fingertips. Her heart is beating up into her ears and it’s only when she clocks the shape of him and his unmistakable (and so long absent) voice that her finger leaves the trigger pull and the weapon falls down to her side in her hand. 

 "Fuck!“ she angrily shouts outright, mostly at him, as a shorthand in lieu of ‘You scared me’. 

 "Are you following me? You’re following me. What the fuck Ulysses!”

“Stop pointing that fucking thing at me.” 

Thankfully, she did. The weapon now at her side rather than being aimed at any of his vital organs, that’s a small relief if nothing else. He’s still processing the fact she’s a fucking gunslinger suddenly when he registers what she’s saying a few seconds later than he would have had they been crossing paths under more normal circumstances. 

“I wasn’t fucking following you.” He disputes, that made him sound like a stalker and he was far from it. The optics, however, aren’t great and he can see that which is why he expands on what he’s saying. “Okay. I was following you, but only because it’s three in the fucking morning and you decided to walk home? Are you insane?”

“We’re motherfucking closed. I swear to god, if it’s any of you bachelor fuckers, I will punch you six ways to Saturday. Ya hear me?” Darcy Hargrove called out when she heard the bar door jingle and the bells hit the back of the bar. There she was, laid out across the booths, a mess every which way after a very rowdy bachelor party had come in and basically destroyed the place. Sure, it was good money, but men were goddamn pigs and at least four of them had grabbed her ass. It was nearing one am and the entire place still needed to be cleaned, even though the custodians were doing a good job. Still though, Darcy was in charge and she was a control freak, a control freak who, at the moment, couldn’t move from pure exhaustion. 

When she sat up to see who it was and it was none other than Ulysses, she smirked. “Oh, hey, look who the cat dragged in. You want to come and watch me die from pure exhaustion? Have I got a show for you. Also, I’ve got a list as far as my goddamn arm of people you could go and beat the shit out of after tonight, all of them these bachelor frat douches that I would have personally destroyed, but that’s not very becoming of a bar owner. Plus, I mean - I know you’re on parole probably, but hey, anything for me, right?” She darkly joked to a guy she had known so much of her life, a security blanket - Uly was all of those things. 

“Come and be tired with me, please? I got goodies.” Darcy pulled out a joint from her pocket and smirked. “Night is still young, right?” 

“I don’t give a fuck,” Uly called back as he enters the familiar haunt, directly defying Darcy as he often liked to do. Closed was a relative concept to him and he was used to sticking around long after the pub’s lights had dimmed -- tonight was no different. He glances to the bar out of habit, expecting to see a brunette there that had always been his main draw to the place. He’s relieved she’s not present, assuming that she must have the night off. 

“What they do? They fuck with you? Cause in that case, drop me some names and I’ll make some faces real ugly for whatever wedding they got coming up.” That was his problem, too impulsive with little regard to the consequences he could land himself in. Still, Darcy was one of his own and that meant if someone stepped to her he took it personally. 

⠀⠀ ❛ there is a huge difference ! a water tower could not give you the same experience as the eiffel tower could. ❜ perhaps it was because of the fact that paris was one of her dream vacation experiences , but she couldn ‘ t help but take offense to everything that was coming out of ulysses ‘ s mouth. comparing this dump to paris was preposterous in her mind and of course someone with little to no class would think that one are in the same.❛ i wish i could have travel there , but alas i have certain obligations here that prevent taking off to the city of lights. one day though , i ‘ ll take a trip. till than , just a fan ⸻ one you really shouldn ‘ t piss off.  ❜

“Well shit, ya know it’s no struggle no progress.” he listens to her, he can’t but wonder if she was one of those TLC My Strange Addiction folks with some psychosexual obsession with Paris and all that was in it. His eyebrow quirked at her, if she wanted to go so bad and couldn’t make it happen that just told him she wasn’t willing to grind hard enough.
