āWe are not at war with the Russian people, and art must remain openā said the Mayor of Venice regarding the Russian pavilion at the Biennale.
Luigi Brugnaro noted that he and Italyās Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, have ādifferent views.ā
āWe must respect people and continue along the path of diplomacy and openness because that is how peace is builtā he added.
We are literally at war with these Russian people ā they have political, business, and personal connections to Putin.
At this point, it feels like even Putin will be framed as someone no one is at war with, simply because heās part of the Russian people.
And how long are we supposed to ābuild peaceā through culture and sports?
Until Russians kill every Ukrainian artist and athlete so that thereās no āpolitical contextā left next to them?
For generations, we have been losing our artists ā murdered by Russians in different historical periods. And itās happening again now.
How can this aspect of art be considered outside of politics? Or is it somehow not considered discrimination when it affects the Ukrainian people?
Art is apolitical right?
I've seen a version of this regarding English high school literature, but the options there were, like, milketoasty (i have no mouth and i must scream; the king in yellow; etc). So I wanted to check with my UA moots (and other people who might have read UA lit),
Which Ukrainian middle/high school lit story fucked you up the most?

Workers' Day parade, May 1, 1986, Kyiv, 5 days after Chornobyl disaster. Soviet authorities insisted on mass events and concealed what actually happened at the Chornobyl NPP, creating an illusion that it was a minor accident that was taken care of. Thousands of people took part in the celebrations while the wind was carrying a radioactive cloud toward Kyiv.

In Ukrainian folklore kharakternyk is a Zaporozhian Cossack that is believed to have magic powers, it can vary from person to person, but the most interesting power I can remember from my childhood was the ability to turn into different animals to escape death. Thereās something very romantic about being so elusive and hard to kill that people believe youāre a wizard⦠Nevertheless, this is Nestor Nebizhchyk (Nestor the Undead). You can guess why heās called that.
Our future health minister got the moves ššŗ

I don't understand what Ukrainians want when they complain about Russian athletes. Do they want athletes with Russian citizenship to be prevented from competing in international sporting events? Do they want athletes with Russian citizenship to be prevented from competing for Russia? Do they want athletes with Russian citizenship to be prevented from competing under neutral flag as well?
Short answer
1) yes.
2) no.
3) yes.
I'll also add a fourth: for Ukrainian athletes not be penalized for expressing their national identity -and yes, this includes things like commemorating Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia in this war, displaying the outline of their country as per internationally recognized borders on their equipment, and not wanting to shake hands with Russian athletes- while Russians are permitted all of the above and more.
As long as this war is going on, Russian athletes, artists, films etc should have no place on the international stage. Why? Because their taxes go to Russia. Their achievements are used in Russian propaganda. Yes even under a neutral flag. Their very presence at these events is a form of soft power. All of this while their country kills Ukrainian athletes, artists, academics, destroys Ukrainian heritage sites, robs Ukrainian musea, etcetc.
What good sportsmanship is there if the country you represent is eliminating your competition with missiles?
And don't come at me with "sport is apolitical". That is simply not true, and has never been true.If sports were apolitical the Olympics wouldn't exist, because their very conception was a political gesture.
I need him to die please
Maybe this is too far but I think every Crimean Tatar on Earth should be flown to LA so they can all kick him in the nuts until his balls pop.
For the Westerners who donāt know: during soviet times, Crimean Tatars were subject to forced deportation and replaced with ethnic slavs to make the region more loyal to the USSR. Then in 2014, russia occupies Crimea, and over a million Crimeans, both Tatar and non, flee, causing the biggest internally displaced population in the world at the time. russia replaces them with loyal russians via a planned settlement program, to make the region more āloyally russian.ā
USSR/russia commits textbook ethnic cleansing and these fucking genocidal blood and soil chuds are like, āno this is the Indigenous Land of the proud Russian Slavā
Russia systematically cleanses Crimea of Tatars to this day. The amount of Tatar activists imprisoned on bogus grounds is astounding.
Also funny how Hassan Piker is just throwing his fellow muslims down the bus.
Lawmakers from the AfD in Thuringia have been accused of trying to gain sensitive data for Russia with parliamentary inquiries. AfD called t
Russia is waging war on democracy. While Putin has power he is a danger to everyone.
Over the past 12 months, AFD parliamentarians in the eastern state of Thuringia had filed 47 questions on topics like critical infrastructure, state Interior Minister Georg Maier told the Handelsblatt newspaper.
"The impression is almost unavoidable that the AfD is working through a Kremlin order list with its inquiries," Maier said, adding that the questions had demandedĀ "increasing intensity and depth of detail."
The politicians had asked for information onĀ transport, water supply andĀ digital and energy infrastructure, according to Maier, a member of the Social Democrats (SPD), the junior partner in Chancellor Friedrich Merz's government.
"The AfD shows a particular interest in police IT and capabilities, such as in the field of drone detection and defense," Maier told the paper.
Maier said AfD lawmakers had also filed similar inquiries elsewhere in Germany.
seems like āGermany for the Germansā was actually about āGermany for the Russiansā
That's the case for damn near every European nationalist party in the last 10-15 years. Plus, well, they've never been subtle about it. This now is just official confirmation.
Yep. Russia has clearly been very deliberately backing extremist parties to try to destabilize and conquer democracies through the use of proxy puppet governments. Look at Belarus and Hungary.
I think Russia is the source of a tremendous amount of evil and instability in the world. Doesnāt mean that all problems will go away overnight if the Russian regime falls, but I would bet that a lot of it would get better. Thatās why the choice isnāt whether to fight Russia or not; itās whether to fight Russia now when they are weakened or later when theyāre in a better position. Defeating Russia isnāt just about saving Ukraine. Itās about saving democracy.
#russians would also benefit from not having an autocrat
Š“Š¾Š±ŃŠøŠ¹ ГенŃ,what are your thoughts on westerners drawing their favourite characters in traditional Ukrainian clothing?
Длава Š£ŠŗŃаŃнŃ
ŠŠ¾Š±ŃиГенŃ! First of all, thank you for such a positive question. I, like many Ukrainians, am always happy to see a character from any fandom or an oc wearing Ukrainian clothing, having a Ukrainian hairstyle, or even just including any element of our culture. And of course, weāre always glad to support this kind of art.
Iāve seen that some foreigners worry that there might be certain cultural restrictions ā like things non-Ukrainians arenāt allowed to wear ā but thatās not really the case in Ukraine. For us, sharing elements of culture with others is generally part of hospitality, like exchanging items of traditional clothing, for example.
So thank you for supporting Ukraine ā ŠŠµŃŠ¾Ńм Длава! And have a great day!

"No guys this character is a russian soldier bc the story needs that!! It has nothing to do with modern ruzzia he's just a russian vampire the story just calls for it!!" is the same logic as "noo guys this character has her tits out all the time because her superpower is shooting milk out of her nipples!! It is not needless sexualization, her superpowers call for it!!!" but you put your fingers in your ears and start going lalalalala can't hear you every time the topic is brought up
They got new photos of the moon,
I knew she had colors hiding in there š„¹
Correction to the link sourced by OP! The Artemis II team did not take these photographs. These were shot by a Ukrainian student named Ildar Ibatullin sometime in the last year or so. Furthermore, the Moon does not have these actual colors in reality; Ildar does a lot of post processing and compositing to saturate the colors in order to artistically represent the mineral composition of the lunar surface.
If you would like to see photos taken by the astronauts aboard Artemis II (and more!), here is the repository that NASA is keeping.
if you want to check out more of the students photography and personal additions, look into the second link!
