Obscura Academia is a BNHA OC Discord roleplay group which takes place in an underground school, rumored to have “villain-esque” morals. Although, they do accept children with cruel intentions; they also accept the ones who feel as though their quirk has no potential to be helpful. This schools goal is to make these kids gain their independence and learn how to control their quirk without the need to be a Hero. A school for the misunderstood.

The teen s t e e l s himself this time as the rabbit-like student? pops back up like a coiled spring before Hitoshi could even step forward to investigate.

Was this the doing of a quirk? Shinsou didn’t think someone could talk so fast and survive such an EXTREME fall. It was mildly confusing.. and annoying.

“Hey. Speak slower.” He orders, rubbing at the bridge of his nose.

“Huh? Okieee, sure!” Tsuu obediently slows down, though their enthusiasm is not curbed in the slightest. But for a split second, they freeze completely, spending a brief moment as an inanimate doll before they twitch into motion again--

“So anyway... Where is this? Can you help me find my way around? ‘Cuz I’m totally lost! I don’t think I’ve been here before...unless I have and I just forgot ‘cuz I’m a dummy. Hweeheeheeheehee!” Their ears flop a little as their head rotates to get a look at the room around them, then tilts down upon spotting the glass pieces scattered around them.

“Oh no, should I clean this up?”

Queen APPEARS to wilt slightly at their answer, but not by much. Choppy hair cuts across her forehead, momentarily hiding saturated-lemon eyes. She speaks as if she is a child being scolded for breaking a new toy.

“….Nothing. I just forgot to withdraw my quirk in time.” Lips thin MOMENTARILY before she’s cheerful again, smearing blood along her cheeks as she gushes, teeth glinting.

“Do you know any heroes??!! I love collecting them!!” Queen changes the topic in the blink of an eye.

“Ohhhh. Woopsies, huh? Eeheeheehee!” Because that’s definitely the funniest thing.

“Mmmmmmmmm, not personally!” they respond cheerfully, standing back up straight. “No professional heroes, anyways. I’ve met a student! Yanno... That one in the UA sports festival, general department, purple hair and eye bags? Well, wutever!” Their torso creaks over sideways, ears and coat hanging limply down from them.

“Collecting heroes? You have some weeeeeird hobbies. Oh well! Gotta live life to the fullest, rite?” This time, their laugh is accompanied by a full array of teeth, spiking out from a smile that doesn’t really look human...

“Are you a hero!?” Queen EXCLAIMS, tilting her head to the side in curiosity. She was always looking for more to collect!!

Wooow, what has Tsuu just stumbled into? All this blood and guts and stuff -- it’s like art, but like, really bad art. And really smelly art. Even Tsuu doesn’t usually get to see stuff this brutal. It’s almost an honor to be able to hold a conversation with the artist! Almost.

“Me? A hero? Hweehee, no waaaay. Guess you aren’t one either, hmmmmm?” Friendly sarcasm. Tsuu bends down to get a good look at the splatters, but while taking care not to step in any of it -- these shoes are brand new, after all!

“Don’t think I know you! Haven’t seen you around, at least. What’d this poor sap do to you?”

I’m terrible with oc names. Does anyone have a system on how they make theirs?

BNHA’s author often names his characters with some relevance to their Quirk, and like one of the other ppl who also replied to ur post, I like to do the same. (readmore for length)

e.g Bakugou: Katsuki's name is composed of "爆" (baku) from "爆破" (bakuha lit. "explosion") and "勝" (ka(tsu)) from "勝つ"(katsu lit. "to win"). (source bnha wiki) So his name is literally his Quirk, “Explosion,” plus just.. “win.”

Iida’s is terrible. Tenya's name comes from "韋駄天" (idaten), meaning "great runner". "哉" (ya) is a final exclamatory particle. (source bnha wiki) So HIS name is literally a PHRASE, “What a good runner!” or something like that.

Also, fucking Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. Tetsu is steel, and his name is composed of four different Kanji that can be pronounced as tetsu.

Canon examples aside, that other commenter also mentioned jisho.org, which is a site I also use and find very useful. You could type an english word in the search bar to find Japanese words for it, and add “ #kanji ” if you’re looking for kanji specifically. If you can’t read hiragana and katakana, you can just copy/paste the characters listed under “kun” and “on” into google translate to see how it’s pronounced (see below; what’s listed under “kun” and “on” lists the various pronunciations for the kanji character).

( ⚠ ...Note that I’m a huge amateur in Japanese so there may be mistakes on this post, especially past this point...! ⚠ )

It looks like 蛇 can be pronounced hebi, jya, da, i, or ya?

黥: Irezumi, kei, gei *The word “tattoo” is usually written like this 入れ墨 instead, but 黥 is another form of it according to jisho.org

So with 蛇黥 (snake tattoo), you could have it pronounced as any combination of the two: Yakei, Jyakei... Seems hard to make a good-sounding name from these two though.

中: naka, uchi, ata(ru), chuu

意: i

心: kokoro, gokoro, shin (This is the shin in Shinsou’s name, because he controls people’s hearts/minds)

煙: kemu(ru), kemuri, kemu(i), en

This is kind of just if you want to go hardcore Horikoshi though. I could try to help more if you really wanted to do that. Otherwise if it seems like a pain in the ass you can totally just ignore this post ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)b

The injured figure slowly sits up from the floor, round eyes blinking for a second before their head cranks sideways to look at her.

“Sorry, what~? Were you talking to me? I was taking a power nap, hehe.”

A myriad of glass shards are unmistakably sticking out of this person’s body, yet it’s almost as if they haven’t noticed. And strange... There’s no blood.

Sitting beneath the shade a tree in the middle of the after noon, speckled with warm light filtering between the leaves. Now it was perfect, the absolute best time to lay back and fall asleep to the orange glow of light all around.

At least Yuuta thought before the moment came crashing down, very literally, but the hand of another teen(?) coming barreling from the tree. .

Grabbing the back of his head Yuuta mumbled softly in pain, not sure what part of this other kid had even landed on him. “ Wha- I … uhm n-no I’ll stay down here. “ He spoke up, still holding the place of impact.

“ Are uh…a-are you okay? “ Looking up finally to take a look at the other, he saw a brightly colored teen that seemed to almost leap from a cartoon lineup. None the less the last few words that fell from him was an entirely unstoppable question that needed an answer: “ Why were you in a tree anyway??? “

The fluff-headed rabbit sat their sleeves on their hips and swayed back and forth on their heels energetically, mouth extending in a long array of teeth as they grinned down at the kid.

“Me? Don’t worry about me~” they replied without hesitation; indeed, they did appear to be unharmed. “Weeeeeeell, I was lookin’ for someone cuz I lost ‘em in a crowd, so I thought I could get a nice vantage point! They must be gone by now though, so whateverrrrr! Maybe another day,” they laughed, making a carefree shrug.

“So what aboutchu? What’re you doing under a tree?”

It was quiet, with nothing but the chirping birds; the sky was clear, the weather was good, and about two seconds into the sounds of rustling leaves, a flash of pink fell out of the tree and onto the person standing under it, quite possibly hitting them with the back of their fluffy head.

“Hello, good morning!” said the rabbit-eared figure, after jumping to their feet. “Wow, what happened? Did you trip? Need a hand?” They extend their hand to the blue-haired kid, seemingly oblivious to the fact that it was them who knocked him over.
