SEA CLEAR is presenting a workshop called "Time is Running Out!" this Tuesday from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM in Math and Sciences 5127. One of the biggest regrets many students often have is not taking advantage of everything that is there to offer at UCLA. Come join us this Tuesday and learn more about time sensitive topics such as study abroad, academic policies, travel studies, and much much more. This is especially important for Transfer students who only have 2 years here at UCLA. There will be an Q&A session from previous transfer students to answer any questions you may have and food & refreshments will also be provided.

SEA CLEAR'S Mentorship Component presents: Let's Get Phy-SEA-cal!

Kick off the year with SEA CLEAR Mentorship by participating in the

 FOUR-Week Challenge to get FIT with your families & mentee/mentor and earn easy points while having fun!

How?

 1)  Finish a Blogilates challenge (chosen by the Mentorhip Coordintor) Mentor/Mentee at least once a week during Weeks 5, 6, 7, and 8, upload a video of your workout to the Mentorship page at the end of each week and earn 8 Points! NO EXCUSE IF YOUR MENTOR/MENTEE IS FAR!  You can do this through Skype!!! NO EXCUSE TO NOT BEING ABLE LEAD A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE! :)

OR

2) Extra points for those who exercise with SEA CLEAR @ HUMANITIES A36 on Tuesdays! (10 Points)

Special prizes will be awarded to the Pair with the most points!!!

Challenge completers with 4 submitted videos will also be rewarded with a consolation prize!!!

Every Video should be submitted by Sunday by 5:00 PM!

Not sure how to approach your professors or TAs about questions? Writing prompts? Or recommendation letters? The Southeast Asian Campus Learning Education and Retention project and the Writing Success Program are here to demystify any uncertainties students have in utilizing office hours. Hey everyone, SEA CLEAR is hosting our annual WELLNESS HIKE early this year--at the end of Week 5 to be exact, on SUNDAY! Take this opportunity to learn and experience wellness firsthand with your friends as we hike to Topanga Lookout where we'll havelunch and take pictures and sing and do all the great things that you can do when you aren't on the computer with facebooktumblrredditmyspace. We will also be holding our second wellshop for Fall quarter right on top of the ridge! This wellshop will be coincidentally (on purpose) focused on physical wellness and the importance of living an active and healthy life. It'll be fun! SPACE IS LIMITED DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF DRIVERS WHO CAN PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION, so sign up fast!

SAC offers Study Hall every night from Monday to Thursday 7 PM - 12 AM, so come out for a nice, quiet place to study! If you stay for an hour, you can sign up for the van service that will take you back to your dorm room/apartment.

  3) Participate for points in our Blogilates-thon Fundraiser on Friday of Week 8, November 22, 2013 at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM by exercising with or sponsoring SEA CLEAR staff and Family Heads! (20 points)

Through its Mentorship program, SEA CLEAR is here to help build a community and a family with the Southeast Asian student population and our allies. Each and every one of us has something to offer, and we all are capable of making a positive change in one another’s life. Together, we can build a home-away-from-home. Prepare to meet the most fun, motivating, and amazing people on campus.  Through the Mentorship program, you will be paired with a mentor or mentee based upon the criteria that you select on your application. In addition, SEA CLEAR will place you into a family during Fall quarter with other pairs giving you the exposure to other UCLA students, Alumni, or community leader. Through the pair and family space, we hope you will take advantage of the support network & build strong relationships with each other.

SEA CLEAR's Wellness Component is recruiting volunteers! Come help plan and lead workshops, survey the Southeast Asian population on campus, and learn about how Wellness affects SEA students at UCLA. More information is on the application

SEA CLEAR's Transfer Component is holding a SEATED Reunion on Wednesda,y October 9th at 6 PM. If you attended SEATED in 2012 or 2013, come out and meet everyone! This is a great opportunity to make new friends or catch up on what everyone has been up to at UCLA.

The Transfer component seeks to outreach to transfer students, introducing them to culturally relevant issues, valuable academic and professional resources, and a support system within the UCLA community. This component has two main objectives:

To develop a strong transfer community

To expose transfers to the existing services we provide

Through 1-on-1 sessions, peer counselors help students with issues regarding academics, finances, community, & also with the student’s social, professional, and personal life. Peer Counseling provides a safe space for confidentiality and trust. With the resources to help you gain the knowledge needed to make your experience at UCLA successful, peer counselors are trained to challenge students to be empowered leaders.
