Political Prisoner: Byron Chubbuck AKA Oso Blanco

Byron Chubbuck is a wolf clan Cherokee/Choctaw raised in New Mexico. His Native American name is Oso Blanco but he became known by the authorities as “Robin the Hood” after the FBI and local gang unit APD officers learned from a CI that Oso Blanco was robbing banks to send thousands of dollars worth of supplies to the Zapatista Rebels of Chiapas on a regular basis during 1998 and 1999.

Oso Blanco is now serving 80 years in Lee, Virginia.

Oso can only receive letters, cards, postcards, photos (not polaroid). He can not receive gifts or cds. Books/magazines (subject – Aztlán) must be sent from a bookstore (Amazon.com or allbookstore.com). Newspaper articles are not allowed however xerox copies of the articles are allowed.

Byron does not accept money. If you want to support his cause with money, consider donating to ‘Schools For Chiapas’.

The item in question was a photo drawn by Oso, which was of a Cherokee burial mound and a drawing of the prison.

Oso feels that the charge is a set up and he fears that he will be placed back into Special Management Unit (SMU), where he will likely have phone and commissary restrictions and spend most of his days in the hole (solitary confinement).

Please please take a second to call or email the prison on behalf of Byron Chubbuck and ask to speak to the Warden. Tell them that you believe the charges are baseless and urge them not to discipline Oso.
