You know what? I’m so fed up with how apologetic the CS community is towards having stuff released late. Like, no. It’s unacceptable. Yes, the artists creating these have lives, but guess what, so do the artists for Magistream, Umbria, Eldemore, Petadoptables, and basically any other site similar(these are just ones I happen to play on and that I know do monthly/bi monthly releases of donation type pets) and I can’t recall any time when the pets, the store pets that the users pay real money for were released late(or more than a few hours, MS had a late release once, and that was a back end problem/brain fart on the admin’s behalf and as soon as it was brought to his attention boom, pets out only a few hours late).
But Chicken Smoothie? They are constantly late(and they don’t bother keeping them in for extra time to make it a full 2 months, they still rotate out on the first). I did some digging for this year and with the exception of the first month, they’ve been late. And they only have to release store pest every 2 months. Some of these other sites do it EVERY MONTH and still manage to get it one time.
The release stats for this year-
October-12 days late(as of writing this, they still aren’t out)
I’m not digging up previous years but this isn’t the first time they’ve had late releases.
And yet so many people are willing to make excuses and just let this slide because ‘well they have lives’ and ‘we shouldn’t rush them’. Yes they do, but this is a JOB, they should be able to balance their life and their job, and if they don’t think that can get them done on time, don’t fucking take the job, give it to another artist. If something comes up and there’s no way the can be done on time(getting sick, an injury prevents them drawing etc…) same thing. Or at least let the userbase know ahead of time that an unexpected delay came up and the store pets might not be released.
And it’s not rushing them to expect that they get released at the promised time. They’ve had at least two months to work on them, assuming they start work on them after the previous ones are done, I don’t know when they start planning and working on them, but they have plenty of time to do.
If you expect me to pay real money for these, I expect you to get them out on time. And it shouldn’t matter that it’s just pixel art, it is still a job with a deadline(new pets every two months). Not to mention, it’s just bad business to constantly release product late despite having a deadline and stating you’ll have it then.
At my job, if we did this and constantly were late on getting our product out you know what’d happen? We’d lose our jobs, because the ones buying from us would stop and go to another, more reliable supplier. And if they stop buying from us, we lose our jobs. I’m pretty sure this goes for just about anywhere, you’ll lose your job/have your pay docked/etc.. if you consistently fail to meet deadlines.
I mean, they get all the free shit out on time, why can’t they get the stuff that people pay for out?
