Well, I didnāt end up writing a full story. Iāve been sick recently and havenāt had much energy. But! I still wanted to contribute something to leokumi week. So hereās some headcanons Iāve thought of based on all the prompts for the week.
Gift/Otherās Perspective
- Both of them are headstrong and stubborn, and so they sometimes struggle to see things from the otherās point of view, especially because they come from such different cultures. It sometimes causes arguments, but they managed to pinpoint the problem pretty early on in the relationship and they know how to communicate to solve issues now.
- Sometimes the communication is just passive-aggressive notes left on benches but hey, they get there eventually.
- Gift giving in Nohr and Hoshido follow different conventions, which often leads to hilarious situations. One interesting example was the time Leo tried to be romantic and bought Takumi a bunch of flowers. Unfortunately, the bouquet included chrysanthemum, which is traditionally only used for funerals in Hoshido. Iām sure you can imagine just how thrilled Takumi was.
- Both of them like animals, but very much struggled when they wanted to adopt a pet together. Leo insisted that he didnāt want a house pet, and that his horse already counted as a pet; Takumi vehemently disagreed and insisted they get a dog. Eventually, they ācompromisedā and got a cat. Leo insists the catās fur triggers his hayfever, but Takumi thinks heās being dramatic. Especially because he has caught Leo snuggling with the cat on more than one occasion.
- Both of them are rather terrible at chores and most domestic tasks, an unfortunate side effect of being raised as princes. Theyāve mostly figured it out, but have had some interesting and embarrassing mishaps on the way. Most of these events occurred during their time at war, when all members of the army were expected to help around camp. Some particularly memorable moments include;
- Leo trying to use magic to do the laundry faster, and accidentally staining a whole load of laundry pink.
- Takumi forgetting he was cooking soup, and as a result burning it so badly he just threw away the pot rather than trying to clean it.
- Both of them working together to try and open an avocado by cutting straight through the pit.
- Takumi not realising that rhubarb leaves are poisonous and cooking them into a rhubarb pie.
- Leo trying to conjure a ālight breezeā to get dusting done faster, and accidentally blowing over a whole cabinet full of trinkets.
- They often bond together over food as they have pretty similar tastes. Food is a way for them to connect to their families, their cultures, and each other. They frequently have date nights where one of them makes a cultural dish for the other to try; both Nohr and Hoshido have some prettyā¦ interesting fermented dishes, and those who didnāt grow up with them often find them unpalatable. But neither of them have ever refused to try a dish yet.
- They are so similar in so many ways that they often joke that they share a brain. Their families agree, having continued to teasingly refer to them as āthe twinsā all throughout their relationship. All joking aside, their uncanny similarities have had both of them privately wondering if soulmates are real. Dorks.
- Worried about how their families would react to the news of them dating the prince of a rival kingdom, Leo and Takumi kept their relationship a secret at first. They would often sneak around, and meet in secluded and private areas just to spend time with each other.
- They werenāt as subtle as they thought. Both of them tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves, no matter how much they try to suppress it. When they finally came out to their families, the response was almost unanimously āyeahā¦ wait, were we not supposed to know?ā
- Leo actually has a very good fashion sense, despite his tendency to get dressed half asleep and put his clothes on inside out. Takumi sometimes takes him shopping because he has a great eye for colours and seems to almost instinctively know how a fabric is going to drape. Takumi will never, ever, reveal this information to Oboro.
- Takumi has a great ear for music and likes to write his own songs. He considers it a hobby and doesnāt think heās very good, and is often too shy to play in front of anyone. One year for their anniversary, he wrote a song for Leo and performed it for him. Leo cried like a baby the entire time.
- Leo had taken mandatory piano lessons as a child, but never enjoyed it all that much. Takumiās music inspired him to start playing again, and they often practice together now.
- (Edit: I forgot to add this originally) Takumiās musical talent is singing. That man does not have the patience to learn an instrument. Can you imagine him practicing scales? A side effect of his singing is that he hums to himself. Often. Sometimes Leo finds it endearing, sometimes it drives him nuts. Swings and roundabouts.
- When their relationship became serious and the war was over, both of them realised that the biggest issue their relationship would face would be the distance between them. They opted to travel together frequently, journeying all over the continent to offer relief aid and as a political envoy.
- Eventually, when the constant travelling became too much, they organised a āswapā system where they each would spend six months together in one kingdom, equally splitting their time between Nohr and Hoshido. When even this became too much, they had a house built right on the boarder between the two kingdoms, where they could live together for the rest of their days.
