Yes I talk about my ex being abusive and how I lived through an abusive relationship openly. Not because Iβm looking for attention or for your pity. But because of the numerous women who live through it and canβt or arenβt able to talk about it openly. I talk about it for the women who didnβt survive those relationships. For those who feel shame from allowing such things to happen to them. For those who are still living through it. For those that are just coming out of it or are about to come out of it. I have friends that say they donβt understand how a woman would stay in such relationships, and honestly, Iβm overly jealous of them. I hope they never go through one of those relationships. I hope they never want to get into a new relationship filled with doubts and insecurities and fear that it will just happen all over again. I wonβt hide it. Iβm jealous. But Iβm also aware of how much that relationship changed me and my perspective on things. I no longer see just the good in people. I second guess peopleβs intentions towards me. I doubt their presence around me. On good days, all is great. But on those bad days, one small thing can set me off. Yes talking about it for the women is great. But we also have to remember the men that go through the same thing. Not only does society not believe them, but we also donβt give them the opportunity to be heard and listened to. We donβt give them the chance to express their experiences. Yes I talk openly about my abusive relationship. But itβs in hopes that it can help someone realize they arenβt alone and that they shouldnβt feel shame in regards of what happened.
