I have a theory that these posts actually gather energy from the wishes of people who reblog them and that’s why they work. Plus, yanno, they get passed around by witches…a lot. :)

Nothing to aim at? By doing what? Killing ourselves? (That wouldn’t work. They’d continue throwing stones at our dead bodies.) Or what do you mean? Just “stop being weird”? A person trying to “not be weird” doesn’t necessarily mean that people will stop bullying them. For example, let’s take the experience of one of Stephen King’s former classmates, which he described as partial inspiration for his novel Carrie. He said that there was a student in his high school who was often bullied and outcast because she was poor and wore shaggy clothes. One day she came in all decked out with new gorgeous fashionable clothes and a haircut to look beautiful. They all just made fun of her even more because they didn’t want her to “break from her chains.”

Violence aside, just losing weight probably won’t get people to stop bullying you. They’ll probably feel jealous and then try to make themselves feel better by putting you down some more.

“that’s the way the world works” illnesses and diseases are also part of how the world works. should we not try to get rid of them? of course it’s always good to better yourself…but the fact is that it’s not an effective way to stop bullying. “let them be petty…haters will always hate” is easy to say when your school-life isn’t hell because you have no friends, you’re an outcast, and everyone bullies and makes fun of you

Yeh except if we said things like “I can open the door for myself!” when dudes open doors for us, people would freak out about how we are “feminazis” and rude and can’t appreciate a favor. You just can’t win. (By the way most feminists don’t agree with “chivalry” anyway. Entire articles have been made about this. It’s been placed under the category of “benevolent sexism.”)

if a stranger is in front of you and holds a door open, at least in my own anecdote, it's probably not the best way to respond to them being polite by trying to make them feel bad about it.
