A look of content quickly transitioned to one of concern as Marcus pushed himself off the bed. “Wait, wha…?” She sat up, eyes stuck on him. Pushing her blanket aside, she came to sit at the edge of the bed and reached for his hand. “What’s… going on? Are you okay…?” Just in that instant, a million things were flushing through her mind —- was he okay? Were they okay? Was he finally realizing there couldn’t possibly be a real future with her?
Grabbing one of many light jackets from the floor, Marcus pulled it on quickly. Hearing Kerria sit up in the bed, he turned back around. He was too tired to try to soothe both himself and his girlfriend; however, he patted her head. “Go back to sleep, Kerr. I promise...breath of fresh, and I’ll be back and in bed.” Holding his pinky finger out, he gave her a wink. “Pinky promise.”
