Zipper sewing lessons today for the kids with homeschooling. We've come so far. This time last year I was a little daunted by the prospect of homeschooling & pulling the kidlets entirely from the school system for this school year. The growth the kidlets are going through is pretty awesome to witness firsthand. For once, we're actually really involved in their education. Sure, we did stuff before, but honestly, we got a little lazy when we had it in our heads that we'll just them off to be educated by someone else. Now, if they don't understand something it's 100% on us to rectify that & understand more of what makes them tick. I know it doesn't work for everyone, but homeschooling can be really amazing if you can make it work, even for a short time. https://www.instagram.com/p/CPYf7aUsOGLFI9FUbEsVwwcw4zGyTupp_csmLw0/?utm_medium=tumblr

The sushi (maki rolls) we made yesterday, tie in nicely with this addition to my fibre art journal, a couple of maki rolls. I used double-sided interfacing to hold the pieces of fabric together to create each of the roll’s. They’re made of scraps left from other projects, mostly masks, but the white material came from a tablecloth that I upcycled into a weighted bag. Rolls are much smaller than this image alludes to.
I have been working on a fibre art journal of sorts for the last little while. I love creating tree’s with the thin scraps of fabric I have from other projects. This tree is made from scraps that came from making masks over the pandemic to date & some free motion sewing. The trunk is a larger piece of scrap, again from masks.

Playing in his chair. When he hits one of the animals hanging down (blue fish, yellow lion or red bird) lights flash & a tune plays. This photo captures him hitting the red bird (the one he gets on a regular basis). Oh if he kicks down on the seat (& is strapped in properly) he can also make it play a tune.
Amused with his hanging rattles
All worn out
